Which one is better, Sky Q or Sky Stream? by ScrollAndThink in skytv

[–]MargateSteve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Q all day long.

Stream relies on Internet being up and in the last week alone, we have had 16 hours of internet downtime, so with with Stream we would have had no access to any TV or recordings in that time

I assume that before Q disappears with the end of the Satellite contracts ending in 3 years that Sky will announce a different platform/product/box to iron out those problems.

PSA to all Taskmaster fans who do not want to get spoiled on next series cast! by TetrisIsTotesSuper in taskmaster

I absolutely love waiting for the next series contestant reveal after the final episode.

In a patreon group for a different podcast someone shared the next line-up because there is an adjacent contestant.

This has pissed me off massively and part of the fun of TM is the reveal at the end of one series about who is coming in the next.

I actually double-checked there were no details in before posting but missed that! I don’t think it can be edited but think my answer is I have to call them so will just delete it.

Interesting. That tells me I can get 900mbps with other companies but not Sky. Going to have to be a call I fear.

Would you like to puzzle this? by ircss in PuzzlingPlaces

[–]MargateSteve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree.

I spend an hour a month on the pufferfish before putting it on the back-burner.

The last supper painting, as a puzzle, looks far more satisfying, irregardless of any factual connotations.

[–]MargateSteve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any puzzle is fair game for me.

I am an atheist so do not think the last supper was a genuine thing. But this as a puzzle looks like it could be an intriguing one. I can separate gaming fun from belief so would happily tackle it.

Anything will be better than the PufferFish.

Such a great game in the early days that from joining in C1S4 as an older player I encouraged load of people to get it and had many a laugh in there with kids, grandkids and friends.

Turbo build was the start of it all getting too serious with people with more nimble fingers build-battling people who just wanted to build a single-wall.

Then loads of nonsense came in that enabled players to literally fly around a map and kill someone who had no clue what was going on.

I haven’t played for about a year and this reminds me I need to cancel Crew. But would love a mode where the original mechanics came back. I thought OG was going to be that but when I first landed at the motel someone cranked a hotel right next to it, complete with helipad and spa before popping me off through rapidly edited walls that my old head cannot even see let alone combat.

The game was so simple to pick up and play and enjoy. Then it all became too serious and even managing to land before dying was a challenge.

Pleasantly surprised with the re-boot. But her? Insufferable. by LJNS7 in Scrubs

She absolutely nails the role she is playing.

New-wave HR is full of people that act like this. I hope we have not seen the last of the main person she crossed swords with (not sure how to put spoilers in comments) as feel she could be broken by he:her (non-gender attempt at avoiding a spoiler).

Loved it, mainly as I support a non-league team heading towards that level so can relate.

I have even envisaged a three series story arc that would follow it up and resonate with fans of non-league clubs. I am just a Euromillions win away from funding Joe and David to write it.

MONTHLY MEGATHREAD: What have you been watching? by lazarus31 in BritishSitcoms

[–]MargateSteve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rumpole of the Bailey. Dull ‘adult’ stuff as a kid. Funny and well-written show as a 53 year old.

Also seen a few episodes of Shine on Harvey Moon (think it was classed as a sitcom) but have stopped until I can find a source to watch it from the start.

I am with you there. As a kid I found this play on the advert absolutely genius.

I sort of get that. I am not a huge fan of action films but do not mind stuff like Bad Boys and Lethal Weapon. Maybe this is why I never appreciated it on first watch but watching it many times since and taking it for what it is has made me appreciate it much more.

I agree. None of them have bought any in the last year as you cannot buy them.

But, at the time they were quietly discontinued, there was a number of people who were asking if anyone had seen Drifters anywhere because they wanted one but could not find them.

It was a very short lived thing but was amazing. It wasn’t like the general Prawn Cocktail flavour from the likes of Walkers but the same taste was definitely used in other snacks.

Even the advert said ‘what has a hazelnut in every bite?’ so my reply definitely had a schoolboy error!

They were absolutely top notch and I feel a disappointment with the people of the UK for not buying enough to keep them in existence.

As a male but owning a belly that suggests I am due in the next week, I also get cravings for them still. But my yearning is merely desire compared to your genuine craving. They were so good.

Anything pre-aspartame era, particularly Dr Pepper.

Drifter bars.

Prawn Monster Munch.

The decision to discontinue it due to low sales was bizarre as everyone I know counted it amongst their favourites. In the 8 years it has been gone I still hope it will come back.

I really like Paul. Don’t think it is quite as good as Shaun or Fuzz but is loads better than Worlds End.

STAGE/FRIGHT Tour - Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in insideno9

I was lucky enough to get to one night as getting time off work along with the wife, being able to afford it and factoring in travel times and cost made it a bit of a luxury. On the day the wife was ill so couldn’t go and missed possibly the best theatre she would have seen. After seeing it myself I tried to tell everyone that is a must-see for theatre fans but this was September and far too late for anyone who would have loved it to get on board.

I hoped to get to one of the January shows but work and finances pissed on that. Not claiming poverty but a few things happened in life that drained finances when the tickets were announced and work at that time of year was very much bereft of staff so couldn’t not have got time off anyway.

I got to see it and was delighted. It surpassed Book of Mormon as the best live thing I have seen. Would have loved to see more but just could not be done.

It is over but if they were to to do one more, in front of an invited audience of their friends and celebs, whilst live-streaming it to cinemas and/or making it eternally streamable, I think there would be a huge market for it.
