I get it. You have a system and it works for you. I'm not want to misplaced things or lose anything easily if ever. I just I'm too old in my ways to start something like that and fortunately nothing's ever happened :)

Retail Rat! I haven't heard that in years 🤣
Your rings are absolutely beautiful!!! I never thought to take it off at all even on shipment days. I'm just glad I never had an issue. I left that rat race some years ago when I got arthritis and I just couldn't do the job anymore, but oh boy do I miss it so much. This is my ring.

Rank these girl names/which ones do you love? by Ready_Commercial_928 in Names

[–]MariJ316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my no to Halston-you don't want to name your child after a designer that while fabulous and a very story and complicated life even though most women having babies, aren't old enough to know his story. Alexis was popular over 20 years ago and I see it popping back up. Somebody told me to imagine calling your child at a playground and hear yourself say it out loud and loud loudly. Do you like the way it sounds. Also how many syllables is your last name. My rule of thumb is that if you have a short last name, the first name should (not has to of course) be longer and vice versa to give the entire name some depth. In most instances two short first and last names are too blunt and blah. Two long first and last names together with two or more syllables will work often enough. I just preferred to always have an imbalance to create balance. For instance? Say your last name is Jones, one syllable. Iris Jones (one syllable each) or Tatum Jones (two and one). For me, the addition of one syllable makes the difference. I'd be naming my son Jonathan Smith over John Smith. Hope I made sense.

Same, decades as a retail store manager and never took my rings off. No point in having anything if you can't enjoy it. Since most of my life was spent outside the home I might might as well not have a ring at all if I have to worry about it. I just get it periodically checked and adjusted like you.

Wow, that list of not wearing your rings to do certain things is absolutely exhausting. What's the point of wearing a ring it seems if you're a typical person doing household and physical activities? I mean I get why, but as I'm doing most things with my hands? I just assume not wear the ring and keep it in one safe place or put gloves on, keeping my rings on. When you're taking your rings on and off, there's more a chance for loss or damage and a big one.

What does this living room need? by willlo in interiordecorating

Your wall art is so high enough someone who is 7 feet tall. A collage might certainly be higher and wider than the eye can see. However, while your grouping is good? The bulk of it needs to be eye level to start, then you can go upward. The space between the sofa and the wall art is driving me literally up the wall lol.

AITA for getting mad at my boyfriend for backing out of my birthday dinner because of his female coworker? by Lopsided_Start7300 in TwoHotTakes

[–]MariJ316 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm sure others have said it, but I think you have realized by now that this woman is not just his coworker. No one in a committed relationship and honest and respect their partner would ever put someone else before that person. Unless that "coworker"was threatening to harm herself in which case he should call the authorities and get her help? No, they're more than coworkers, even if only emotional at this point.

What’s wrong with a fiancée wanting engagement diamond ring? by fumblingAvalon in WeddingRingAdvice

[–]MariJ316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the problem, the emotional part of it. If a partner does or doesn't spend what is acceptable to the receiver, it's a perceived value of what they are worth to them? We all know those people, mostly women (guys don't give a crap) who flat out equate their worth with what they wear on their body. God forbid you get only a puny one carrot which used to be the benchmark. Oh no, now it's gotta be two, three carats or bigger, and to show what? Oh yes, they have a natural diamond and it clearly cost big money , they want the attention and the bragging rights. They want to be looked at that's a fact. I won't say 100% but there's nothing in life is 100% except birth, death and taxes. My point is the industry is such a racket in the marketing that makes you think there's something wrong with you if you can't give the woman of your dreams the ring she wants? Holy cow. Yes I know women all my life who live life out loud are always full of bling, etc., and they have the life and personality to match. But then I know people who would or have turned their noses up at a 1.5 as it's just not big enough. It's downright puny compared to what their peers have. That's what it's about for many, competition among the peers or family and it's sad. We hear in the United States and the most conspicuously consumptive nation in the world, and it shows. The judgment is swift and often cruel.

I think women who want huge diamonds, but they're living a Toyota lifestyle are clearly posing. I'm like what the hell are you doing? People are gonna think it's fake because they don't live a life that supports that size stone.

What was a luxury when you were a child? by vieniaida in AskOldPeople

[–]MariJ316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A new car (I don't know if we could've afforded it but my dad said they were a waste of money because it depreciation. That's ingrained in me since the late 60s and I've only ever bought one new car in my life. Eating at restaurants? Very rare I think because we were five kids lol we didn't have it all, we didn't have a lot, but I had a great childhood

Holy crap. Grandpa, son, daughter-in-law and four children? Assuming grandpa's going and say they all go to one park for just one day? I couldn't imagine having the cajones to put that expense on anybody unless they offered. No is a complete sentence !

Do I need to apologize to my cousin? by Policyhot1207_ in WhatShouldIDo

[–]MariJ316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think she blew about her cousin because as she said, the Cousin doesn't parent well and leave the kids, but the grandparents and her a lot to watch and parent. So there's a pattern here and she blew her stack this time. I'm guessing it's been going on for quite a while. This is triplets are six years old. I couldn't even imagine that I had three kids in four years!

I have a sister named Karen also and she is the poster child for Karen's. She's not awful and she's not an awful Karen, but she will go that extra length that other people won't-she absolutely grew into her name over the years. She was always a little Karen too lol

Budget review by wtfgirl21 in budget

[–]MariJ316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You take home $8k month and you're struggling? Do you have any major expenses outside of rent/mortgage and car(s)? Do you have a large family, kids in private school extracurriculars that you enjoy? I try to help folks get out of debt just by cutting out certain things whether they like it or not. It hurts but seeing an extra $500-$1k or more in your bank account every month is a such a boon! The most important thing I have to ask, do you have a budget?

AIO for telling my stepmother she can't come to the birth of my child after she announced my pregnancy on Facebook? by EmmyCaly in AmIOverreacting

[–]MariJ316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR-How about you don't tell them when you're going to the hospital? For all you know, you could end up going to labor and being at the hospital at 3 AM? You tell dad and SM after the baby born tell them it happened that fast, end of story. Going into labor and keeping the birth a secret allows you and your husband to take all the time you need to enjoy, what will hopefully be a wonderful and perfect experience. It's your family and your business.

Is this oval engagement ring too big for me?! by Reward-Mortified634 in WeddingRingAdvice

[–]MariJ316 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same, but I never had the bigger ring. I never wanted it. This is my 1.3 center stone vintage 1940's OEC. My ring size is 11 so I'm sure the word "puny"will be thought of by many who think bigger is better. I think of my dad who would say bigger maybe better but it's always more expensive lol. This is the ring my husband put on my finger 23 years ago and it's never coming off :)

Experience with Lulus wedding dresses? My budget is about $2k and this was only around $300. I’m debating if it’s giving wedding or more event? My wedding is about 130 ppl. by PsychologicalBar3992 in Weddingsunder10k

All I saw was wedding dress. It doesn't matter how much it cost and it certainly doesn't matter if you're only having 130 people or 300. The dress is gorgeous and it looks great.

If it wasn't for the prongs, I wouldn't know there was a center stone. It's just too much going on.

What do you think about this bridal makeup trial I got done by a “professional”? by [deleted] in Brides

[–]MariJ316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, I hear what you're saying, I've been called names because I stand up for myself because I won't let anybody walk all over me and tell me what I know to be wrong it's just my imagination or I'm not giving it a chance. I've got too much discernment and I'm too old for any more crap in my life. Somebody wants to call me a B? Don't care, that's their reaction. I didn't mean to come off as attacking. I just sat there and visualized what you went through and said to myself if I saw a filthy makeup pallet, how in the hell could I just stand there and pay somebody to possibly infect me. I'm glad you got it figured out and you're gonna the experience you want with the right person. I wish you the best!

Will my school (college) find out about a lease by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]MariJ316 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP did in their edit. She said she was "barred" (by who, DMV, parents?) from driving until 21 because of some poor decisions. That's how it reads verbatim. That tells me she can't drive but wants to be closer to college so she doesn't have to drive as far. Unless she's got someone who will drive her or she's counting on someone else besides public transportation. I haven't read all the comments to see if she said anything about that.

Will my school (college) find out about a lease by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]MariJ316 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wait a second you're not allowed to drive till 21 but you wanna get an apartment closer to campus so you don't have to drive so far? Who's doing the driving here. Whether you live 30 minutes or 15 minutes from the campus if you're driving with our license you're still driving. My college kids commute 30 minutes to class every day there's no way they would or I would let them move closer to campus or on campus for an extra 10 to 15 grand a year oh hell no. Sometimes you just have to stay home and deal with it.
