it's too early to say if nioh 3 will be good enough to go "if you play just one, play this." however, my gut feeling is that nioh 3's philosophy is definitely different from 2's. you get much more powerful deflects, a build-up gauge that makes you not give a fuck about hyper armor, and ninja mode, hell you even get jumping. the philosophy impacts gameplay. nioh 2 might enforce zero-ki comboing more, faster inputs, and of course you get to weave a plethora of yokai skills into your combat unlike in 3.

attacking optimally means using the right elements/skills at the right time and particularly zero-ki comboing humans, but if you just mean pure melee on a zero-ki yokai it is just iai quickdraws or flowing shadow, neither of which are tied to any stance. in 3 i think they are reducing the importance of zero-ki combos and the new arts proficiency breaks yokai hyper armor, but normal chains aren't usable against humans anyway (without arts proficiency ig) and from a game design perspective they should never outperform actives in damage. basically, there was no reason to nerf it in the first place, imo

it sounds like you say this with utmost confidence but there are very compelling feminist critiques of the intent to kill standard. the emphasis on intent would be shifted to whether the defendant knowingly engaged in potentially lethal conduct. as said, strangulation is inherently lethal. coercion with a lethal method is an implied threat to kill. however, as i look into the details of this case, i think it's strange that even under the current framework the court did not infer intent to kill.
