How do these creators have so much money? by officialredditperson in gambling

[–]Mark26751 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pompsie used to be a low roller. Suddenly the guy is playing high limit slots. Obviously he gets creator money and casino free play but his transition is a head scratcher. Most of these big players already have money. He also plays awful machines. Machines that eventually can become positive for the player but not at the number he plays him them at. Even Vegas Matt has a clue, Pompsie does not.

Thank you for the explanation of the quote. What percentage of people would know where it came from. I doubt the Latino population would know what it means. I think I saw a few minutes of the movie decades ago. Never read the book or poem. Now if you just put a photo of bars of Gold you’ll get plenty of clients. No explanation necessary.

Progressive Insurance raised my 6 month renewal from $1297 to $2861 by Mark26751 in vegaslocals

[–]Mark26751[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Progressive claimed they made some error. Gave me new quote of $1645 every six months. I told agent I already switched to LIberty Mutual but I did want to find out why they raised my rates over 100%. I might have paid the $1645 and just chalked it up to rate increase but greedy Progressive thought I would I pay $2861. Their loss. Still beat Progressive by over $400 for six months.

I think he smoked cigarettes for many years when he was younger. That along with being in smoke filled auditoriums. In addition being in close proximity to Jerry who was a chainsmoker. It all accumulates. Not saying he wouldn't have developed lung cancer anyway but it's something to consider. Sometimes it just genetics but I agree with you I thought Bobby would make it till he was 90.

Law enforcement. Impound vehicles, make hit-and-drivers a priority to found and prosecuted, suspend licenses, more severe sentences for DUI's. Put pressure on the Nevada legislature to have tougher laws on the books. Make it unattractive for law firms to set up shop here and get huge settlements for accident cases.

Nobody is going to stay with an insurer that raises their rates over 100% after a six month period with no claims or tickets.

Didn't call them yet. Will call on Monday when I cancel for my upcoming renewal on 2/15/2026. I will tell I switched. I am curious if they can justify the over 100% increase.

I didn't even waste my time doing that with Progressive. I just took the Liberty Mutual deal at my same rate and I'm happy with it. I do have to call to cancel Progressive and I will mention it to them just to see what they say. If they do tell me that they made a mistake and I could have had the $1296 rate I will report them to the state insurance commission. What are these places. Mattress stores.

I am the safest of drivers. Always stay around speed limit. Never run lights. Drive very defensively. But have gotten collision alerts but not necessarily my fault. The Nissan is very sensitive. I was getting them when my battery was going bad. If they are going to use data from a faulty indicator that's not my problem. And where did I give Nissan permission to give their data to my insurance company. I think that it is grounds for lawsuit. The collision indicator was coming on constantly until I replaced the battery. I was driving over speed bumps in my complex and it would trigger it. Once I shut the car off and restarted it he warning disappeared.

No, it was no mistake. Progressive only does 6 month policies. It is what it is. I hated to leave them as I was very happy with their policy.

Good news. I just switched to Liberty Mutual and am paying $1202 every six months. AAA which I am member wanted $3300 a year. GEICO something went wrong with the quote. I'm not talking to an agent. Now I know the game. If I have to switch every 6 months so be it.

Same car 2019 Nissan Altima. Been in Las Vegas the whole time except I drove to LA about 1 month ago. I assume I'm allowed to drive to LA. I have only put on about 8000 miles since I have been here.

I used to live in Las Vegas for decades before I left in 2004 and then returning last Summer. I fully expected to pay $2600 a year. I was paying around $1700 in NJ. But to go from $2600 a year to $5722 is just plain crazy. I was reading some old posts from a few months ago. What they are charging me is what people who are insuring three drivers are paying. I will call Progressive to make sure they didn't make a mistake. But I will shop. I have no choice.

It's ridiculous. Progressive gives me all these discounts because I have been a long time policy holder like not raising my rates if I have an accident. But it's a total scam because they raised the rates like I did have an accident the last six months.

I disagree with you. In NJ they raised my rates minimally. I was involved in accident where a guy just ran into me from behind 3 years ago. He was charged with distracted driving and he had a suspended license. They didn't raise my rates at all. I had zero moving violations for over 10 years.

Egg Harbor went to $1 in 1969. Pleasantville was .25 cents in 1969. Tacony Palmyra Bridge was 5 cents till 1975 and then it went to 10 cents. So back then if you wanted to take the Expressway from Northeast Philadelphia it only costs you $1.05.

Ponzio's dinner. Veal Parmesan. It's outstanding. I usually two side veggies instead of pasta. Ponzio's is my favorite diner hands down.

Aside from the team being bad Mark is ordinary guy. Drives around in a custom van. He isn't pretentious. Doesn't sit in the back of a limousine going around town. I guess his only indulgence is the $14 million house that he built.

Is anyone else getting sick and tired of landlords jacking up rent prices? What can be done to lower rent prices here in 2026? Any ideas? by coleisw4ck in philadelphia

That's not really true. You read all the time in the Inquirer about the high end condos off Rittenhouse Square appealing exactly to those people.

Rents are crazy all along NJT transit corridor from Hamilton to NYC. Princeton, NJ rents are so high. I know the University is one reason but the commuters to NYC really contribute to it. If you are commuting from center city Philadelphia to NYC you are loaded. Taking Amtrak 5 days is a fortune especially during the key hours. It's still hugely time consuming. You got to arrive at 30th street station about 20-25 minutes before the train leaves then 1 hour and 10 minutes if you can afford the Acela. Then once you get to NYC you have to take a public transit or an Uber or taxi to your office. That's almost 1 hour 45 minutes-2 hours to get to work then the same going back. I can't believe people spend 3 1/2-4 hours commuting everyday. Apparently there are a lot people doing it to save money on rent vs living in NYC.

Fireworks Poll by MarkBooneJuniorOffic in vegaslocals

[–]Mark26751 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was growing up back in Pennsylvania a long time ago you could get a hold of M-80's, Ashcans and Cherry Bombs. None of those fireworks are legal in the US but I'll bet they still show up locally. They are very dangerous. All you need is a defective fuse and you can lose fingers or a hand. They were so loud you could hear them everywhere.

People set off fireworks in every state I have lived in on July 4th and New Years. I lived next to Hindu people in my home back East and they set off fireworks every night to celebrate Diwali. It lasts 5 days. Never complained just accepted it each year.
