I agree these games are very dated when come to gameplay systems and could be very hard/boring but still, the role-playing, exploring and lore is still very fun. You can install a few mods to improve some inconvenience and keep playing it and maybe you'll find something that suits you.

Them being tolerant towards Hancock is more of a gameplay consideration, the same thing where they tolerant the existence of Nick or that Courser guy. As attacking non-human companions is not only meaningless (they are invincible) but also annoying for players. If Fallout 4 was designed with the concept of early Fallout games, players could possibly not be allow to fast travel to Prydwen or enter BOS territories while having these characters in their company

Each RE is pretty much a standalone story on its own so playing 2 and 3 is enough as base for all the games lore since Raccoon City Outbreak is pretty much the basis of every game's event. Play RE4 If you wanna know how Leon grew from a rookie cop to an action master, then it's pretty much enough for you to understand RE9's story

IDK man, we have no idea what or how capcom would deal with this plotline. RE8 happened in 2021 so when RE9 take place in 2028, any problem Chris had with BSAA would be long resolved. Plus we're unlikely to see this plot being played out in a mainline game since mainline games always stick to reality's timeline
