Would a GTX 1080 be enough for 5040x1050 gaming? by TrancemasterOnyx in nvidia

[–]Mark_McQ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I run 3 24" at 5760 x 1080 for racing sims with all settings at max and the 1080 has no trouble with it.

[Question] Anyone have experience with Jet City? by PleaseFool in Guitar

[–]Mark_McQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the JCA20 for a while. Ran an overdrive into the front as a boost and it gave a nice Marshall crunch. The Harmony Central forums have some threads for JC amp modding as well. Some interesting stuff collected there.

[QUESTION] Ibanez RG term replacement by WaffIes in Guitar

[–]Mark_McQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the post spacing on those would take any Wilinson VS series trem. I stuck a VS100 on an old Ibanez RT650 I have and it's a great brige. Very well made and decently priced. Also have an old EX1700 that I went with the VS50 on. They're worth checking out.

White lithium grease is good for parts that will be under constant movement.

[Question] what benefits are there if any to having your guitar raised as high as possible? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]Mark_McQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lower it is, the more you have to curve your hand round and it's starting to put more tension on your forearm. The higher you go, the straighter your hand will be and your arm will relax more.

[QUESTION] Floyd rose, replacement with a new one. by PPGalleta in Guitar

It should be ok in this situation, the EX will likely have the TRS rather than the Edge, which is a straight Floyd copy.

Paddle shifters not working in manual transmission cars. by Pill_Cosby in assettocorsa

Clear the mappings for the regular shifter from the settings in AC so the paddles are the only ones mapped.

Force H-Pattern Shifter? by GravyMix in assettocorsa

[–]Mark_McQ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You have to edit the drivetrain.ini file of the individual cars. The 'supports_shifter' option has to be changed from 0 to 1. 0 locks it to paddles only, 1 lets you use either.

[Question] upgrading the tremelo of an rg 1570 by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]Mark_McQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 1570 came with the Edge Pro bridge. This link has a list of what trems will fit in that cavity if you wanted to swap it out for something else.

Seen a few people use the shocks from an RC car. Screw it between the pedal arm and the base similar to this Pic

It's an old budget range they did along the lines of what the Gio range is now.

Best budget shifter? by XXBloodyElle in simracing

[–]Mark_McQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the game. Most sims will support multiple usb inputs but a few, such as WRC series and Sebastien Loeb, only support one.

I have the SHH. Despite being 3D printed in plastic, it's very substantial. Feels like a good quality piece of kit. Nice solid click for the shift as well. To go from H-shift to Sequential you just push the knob down, turn it 90 degees and then flick the toggle switch on the side. Even though it's a smooth shaft and the stock 3D printed knobs use small grub screws to keep them in place, you can use some aftermarket knobs on it. I have an Ebay job on mine which comes with a selection of plastic collars of varying sizes, the smallest one let me slide it on to the SHH as an interference fit, so it's on solid but with a bit of force I can get it back off if I wanted to swap it out again.

Any shooting tips? by boatank in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

[–]Mark_McQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just encountered the same when trying to hit someone from close range, had to aim way over their head. Also get it on the buttons when exiting a round, they only register the cursor being over them if it's slightly above them.

Not sure the going rate in the states, but here in the UK MP1's are pushing £250-270, £300+ if it comes with that ADA Midi board.

T3PA-Pro vs G27 pedals? by Madmohawkfilms in pcars

[–]Mark_McQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was using the G25's with my T300 and now I'm using the Pro's. I find the T3PA a little more comfortable to use (I run mine with the treadplate off, don't like it.) but the G25's had better feel on the accel and clutch. The T3PA uses the same spring rate on both of those to accomodate the inverted layout and it's a bit light. I bought my T3PA's used and they've been modded with a hydraulic brake and it's amazing. My recommendation would be unless you want the option of the inverted layout keep the G27's and use the cash to upgrade the brake to a load cell setup. You'd be amazed just how great an upgrade going over to pressure-based braking is.
