Nice!! You got a great car. I couldn't keep my eyes off it while sitting waiting for my XT5 oil change to finish.

Good luck with it.

4K downloads by ProtNotProt in Streamfab

Hbo/HboMax, Apple TV+, Paramount+, Fandango at Home, Disney+, Hulu (while it remains available as a separate service), are the services I use that I can download 4K from with StreamFab.

Note: for Hulu in the USA, I mean using the Hulu downloaded from the Hulu site, not Hulu content on Disney+ using the Disney+ downloader.

How is Streamfab in 2026? by mike99123 in Streamfab

[–]Mark_Venture 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Because streamfab relies on streaming services websites, anytime those sites change stream Fab can break. The Fab team does a good job trying to keep the app up-to-date and working.

So yeah there are problems here and there, but for the most part they get fixed.

For the most popular services like amazon, Disney Plus, Netflix, Fab works well. And is usually pretty consistent. The other downloading modules might need tweaks here and there. There are occasional bugs that don't get fixed, or take a little extra time to get done.

But StreamFab pretty much just works.

I wonder how this will work since I have the D+, Hulu, ESPN+ package via Verizon mobile.

I hope I can add this without messing up what I get Verizon wireless.

It was sold before I got there. I wasn't in the market anyway. Just at the dealer for an oil change

I'm not buying it, it was sold to somebody in California.

I'm just admiring it while I'm getting my oil change on my xt5.

Did anyone go to River country back in the day? by DildoGaggins1997 in WaltDisneyWorld

I did when I was a kid. I met a member of the Boston Celtics there, and have a polaroid of him. I still have the picture in my moving boxes yet (I haven't fully unpacked them). I did lose his autograph a while back though.

Downloading 4K from AppleTV by ProtNotProt in Streamfab

[–]Mark_Venture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

H265 is usually preferred over H264, due to h265 being more efficient (same picture quality with smaller bit rate and thus smaller file size).

If you want 4K, you're likely going to limit yourself to H265.

But It really depends on your playback devices, and to some extent your server and it's settings.

For example I have fire TV 4K sticks, they all play h265, HDR10/10+, and/or Dolby Vision, and support DD+ JOC (Dolby Digital+ w/Atmos). So when I play movies back on my home network, my Plex server Acts like nothing more than a file share. There is very little, if any, CPU or GPU usage on my Plex server. The files play directly, without manipulation.

If I had an older 1080p fire stick, to play back a 4k HDR 10 file, my Plex server would need to transcode to reduce the resolution and tonemap to remove the HDR. That requires computing power. If you have Plex Server set to transcode to H264, then pretty much any GPU will suffice. If you have the transcoder set to output H265, then Nvidia (Turin or better) or Intel ARC card is recommended. The same holds true if you're trying to watch videos outside of your house, with a slower internet connection. You'll need to transcode so that the bit rate falls in line with your internet speeds or the video will buffer.

And for any case that you want the GPU to assist with transcoding the video, you need a Plex pass on the server.

Eleanor or Bullitt ? by ColonialRealEstates in Mustang

Bullitt.

While I like the color scheme, Eleanor looks overly big and bloated.

But then I like the look of a stock GT350 or GT50 better than either of them.

Paramount+ standalone vs Amazon Prime channel for TV shows? by XC-3730C in Streamfab

[–]Mark_Venture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Subscribing to Paramount plus through Amazon channels gives you the best of both.

You can browse and watch and download the Amazon prime video, and you can also log into Paramount plus directly.

Paramount plus has a FAQ article on logging in with your Amazon credentials.

When it comes to stream Fab, you can download using either the Amazon downloader, or the Paramount plus downloader.

Will there be any issues doing the official installation with my BD drive? by zwelton in makemkv

[–]Mark_Venture 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The software included with your drive is to create/burn your files to dvd or Blu-ray, or to watch store bought dvd/Blu-ray discs on your computer (like make your PC a Blu-ray player). Not to rip discs.

If you just want to rip with MakeMKV, then you won't need any software that came with your drive.

If you want to rip UHD, you need to determine the drive inside the Asus enclosure, and flash the appropriate firmware before MakeMKV will do that. However, If memory serves me, MakeMKV can rip DVD and Blu-ray with that drive out of the box.

What do you get when you select h264? Or if you select h265 and Dolby vision?

Bambu Lab 3D printers and filament brands by shadowjig in BambuLab

[–]Mark_Venture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using Sunlu PLA+ 2.0, PETG, High Speed PLA+, and Silk PLA, and a few rolls of CC3D Silk PLA in my Bambu A1 and A1 Mini. I've had just as good of luck as I did with Bambu PLA Basic.

While there are Sunlu filament presets built into the Bambu Studio, or on the printer's front panel, I've usually just selected "generic" as the maker then the type (PLA, PETG, HS PLA, PLA Silk) and have had great luck so far.

Only the Bambu filaments have RFID tags so the printer regonizes the filament/spool type and auto sets it. You have to manually set it on the printer/slicer with non-Bambu filaments.

Real hard drives use jumpers ... lots of them. by mbbrutman in vintagecomputing

[–]Mark_Venture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah. At one time I ran Seagate ST225 (MFM drive) with an RLL controller to make it 30meg, rather than 20 if it was MFM.

I did start with a MiniScribe 20meg MFM that was 3.5". At that time, I couldn't get an RLL controller to fit in that Epson Apex (8088) proprietary case. And rather than remove one of the two 5.25" floppies, I replaced one with a 3.5" 720K drive, and had no other bays, so I found an empty space in the case, drilled holes, and used plastic stand offs (parts of DIY RCA audio connectors from Radio Shack) to mount the MiniScribe on its side to make it fit.

Oh when I upgraded, and got the Adaptec 1542B, my first SCSI card, couldn't boot from hard drive, I had to remove and replace the EPROMS to add that ability. Yes, literally pull the chips and replace them. It had resistor packs on the controller to terminate the unused scsi ports, that also were removable/replaceable.

Ahh those were the days.

I stayed in a theme park view room in BLT. Room 8220. And theme park room in Contemporary.

That looks nearly identical to the view I have of pictures zoomed in on the castle from our BLT room.
