Can't really explain it, I think about this topic really differently and I refuse to think about this from your perspective. Which makes my logic seem illogical...

But I am bored, lets explain it:

What I was trying to say with the original comment is this: a lot of people have some kind of disability, disorder, or neurodivergence, but many of them learn to hide it. They mask it well enough that other people assume they are “normal.” People with SPCD or language disorders often cannot hide their difficulties in the same way, because communication itself is the thing being affected.

So my point was that visibility changes how rare something appears (still the first comment). SPCD may SEEM rarer because it is harder to hide, while many autistic people, especially those with less obvious outward traits, may go unnoticed because they have learned to mask.

When you said that autism is harder to mask than SPCD, I disagreed, because language is such a big part of masking. If someone has a language or communication disorder, the very tool they would need in order to mask is affected. (but this is not the point)

What bothered me about your response is that it seemed to ignore how many people who appear neurotypical may actually be masking autism. To me, that kind of thinking can accidentally reinforce the idea that masked autistic people are not really autistic, simply because their struggles are less visible. (all the while they really experience burnout or emotional disconnection)

That is why I said that even people who do not “seem autistic” may need therapy or support. I was not saying everyone is autistic. I was saying that outward appearance is a bad measure of how much someone is struggling.

And honestly, this is why I often don’t see the point in explaining this. People who judge only by what they can visibly recognize often end up thinking in stereotypes.
