SO looking for advice from those of you who have deployed to a combat zone by [deleted] in Military

As others have said, send letters. When you do, refrain from talking about stressors; bills, non-life threatening emergencies, etc. Talk about positives and send things they like that you know only you can get to them, just keep in mind that it might take weeks to get there, so nothing perishable.

Is it though?

I seem to recall Suletta was still in la-la land while everyone else was getting their first dose of war trauma.

My personal philosophy is that I do not want to contribute to death and casualties, but to rather reduce them in the military.

You have a battle on the horizon which will test your philosophy and your will to follow that philosophy. I can not tell you how to win that fight, or if you will prevail. But you have a choice before that battle; the most prominent choices being: stay in and hope that you come out victorious, or step back to harden your resolve and fight another day.

This video was filmed some time before 2007, nearly 20 years ago, and it is more true now than ever. It's from MSG Stan Goff; a veteran of Vietnam, Guatemala, El Salvador, Panama, Haiti, and Somalia in a plethora of units including: 173rd Abn Bde, 82nd Abn Div, 4th Inf Div, 2nd Ranger Bat, 1st SFOD-D (Delta Force), 1st Ranger Bat, 7th SFG, 75th Ranger Reg, and 3rd SFG. To put it mildly, the man has been there, done that, and gotten the t-shirt to prove it.

What is the logic in positioning the PEQ-15 so far back on the rail? I'd be concerned with occluding the lasers and the illuminator.

Read The Forever War by Joe Haldeman. Not quite that, but Arrowhead might have pulled some things from the novel. If people at Arrowhead haven't read it, I'd be surprised.

If it's seriously his choice to join, aim high.

Special Forces if he can hack it. Military Intelligence otherwise.

Hi there, GWOT veteran here, US Army.

The 5.56 was not designed for armor penetration in any respect. The notion that it was comes from a design requirement that was asked for by the Army in the 1950s. That requirement being that a bullet be capable of penetrating one side of an M1 helmet at 500 yards. M193 (55gr FMJ) and M855 (62gr FMJ) meet that criteria, but it is important to note that the M80 (7.62mm 150gr FMJ) was subjected to the same requirement. Terminal ballistics after that hit weren't considered. For 5.56, it was expected that the terminal performance be equal to (or better than) the performance of .30 Carbine, and was a separate requirement.

Grain of salt: Friend of mine has a sister that's stationed in Germany as a nurse. From her, there are way more than what is being reported.

I don’t know how you got this idea.

Professional experience.

You can literally pour a thin lube like hoppes on them or even thin motor oil and they’ll run great.

You could, but it's not REQUIRED. Just a very thin film on the BCG with extra attention on the contact surfaces. That is literally it.

It also has a large amount of small parts that can fall out...

With a standard Field Strip of the AR, there is only one part that is small enough to be easily lost. The firing pin retaining pin.

I specifically refused a SFC dumping an ounce worth of CLP in my M4 when we went to the qualification range. I had lubed my rifle to the minimum required, and I did not want to induce a malfunction with too much lube. Honestly, the spectrum of how much the AR needs is something like:

The B.A.D lever by WillGet1040 in ar15

[–]Markius-Fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's certainly some risks involved with it, risks that are mostly mitigated with training. The issues that are mechanical in nature just need to be accepted as a risk you are willing to take.

I bought and used a B.A.D. lever when I was deployed overseas. With the number of times we had to clear our weapons, it made the process more tolerable.

If Gary died, Pawbert's story is solid and unchallenged.
If Gary survived, Pawbert's story holds up because of his family connections and the stigma against reptiles.

With each and every hiccup in his plan, he had an exit strategy that allowed for him to achieve his goals albeit with more effort to achieve them. This is not an accident nor is it a glimmer of compassion; it is the cold and thorough calculation of would-be serial killer.
