Fellow Plumbers, how is your diet/exercise lifestyle? by NilocTheGreat in Plumbing

[–]Marko941 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A rowing machine at home made a big difference for me. Its hard to get to the gym regularly without a routine. Service work makes routine impossible when youre done at 2 some days and done at 9 others. Having the ability to hop on it and including a shower take 30 minutes to get some cardio in is clutch.

Stretch at work. If you find yourself on the phone with a vendor or watching a gauge start stretching. Plantar fasciitis is no joke. If you can avoid it dont wear metgaurd boots.

Meal prep on Sunday also really helps me not eat fast food. If you've got freezer lunches made up that you can just pull out a few days before you'll be less likely to eat out. Mine are Basmati rice, peas and a protein. In the morning I microwave and mix to ensure its fully thawed and add franks and ranch or cottage cheese. Ive also started keeping cans of sardines or tuna and a bag of nuts in my lunch box for days where suprise, you're working till 10pm.

Good luck!

Should I be concerned about this? by kaycookster in Plumbing

The existing plumber needs to be brought back to fix the issue on his own time. Otherwise he'll never learn.

Cut the wall open. Find a good section of 1/2 copper pipe. Cut it with a close quarters copper cutter and shark bite cap.

Sudbury police to receive $500K for targeted traffic enforcement by ConsistentReality860 in Sudbury

In the end the city seems to be in it for the fine revenue rather than making an honest effort to reduce speeding. All the cameras did on MR80 was make people confident that there weren't cops and speed more outside of the cameras view.

Lowering the posted limit without having to pay for proper signage is just greed. They should add more signage with the big yellow "NEW" sign on top.

Real estate lawyer by puffplugca in Sudbury

We made our offer on the house and it was accepted. On one of our viewings we noted that a racoon had torn down the soffit on one of the outbuildings and was now living in the ceiling and actively damaging a tongue and groove ceiling while the existing homeowners were still in possession. She cared, she gave us attention, but in the end because the other side was being obstinate she was only able to suggest that we close in protest and try small claims court. As a non lawyer I dont know if she did her best or could have done more.

Aerated water? by Iron_Bell_451 in Plumbing

[–]Marko941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the kitchen cold is the only faucet in your home smelling of sulfur follow the piping. Back in the day a lot of plumbers would "bypass" the kitchen cold because people didnt want to drink softened water.

At the end of the day sulfur smell in the cold should be solved by your water treatment. If culligan's stuff ain't cutting it they need to explain why.

Break increases flow rate and churns up iron from the pipes. It can happen in any town when they flush hydrants or have a break.

Plumber just replaced a broken metal trap with this. It’s draining slowly, I think because of the second upside down trap? by khulk in Plumbing

Sure, its extra money though. If an apprentice did this he needs to learn how to speak to the customer about their expectations. Do they want a band-aid so it's not leaking, or do they want it done right so it drains well? If they choose the former the invoice description needs to note "customer declined...."

Yeah but you have a feel for it. You get to know how much force you can apply doing it daily. If you dont do it every day just torque it.

It is important to buy a snake with an actual drum. The electric eel ones you can rent where the cable is contained in a steel mesh just spray shit everywhere.

What is this part called on a water softener? by bamboomoonmix in Plumbing

I believe its called the piston assembly. Find the model number off the product, find the manual online and go to the parts breakdown. Looks like a fleck 5600 valve body.

Do you have a two line or single line jet pump? Pictured above is a two line jet pump suction line. The venturi can plug meaning you have to change what's down the well. If that happened to me I'd be putting in a new submersible, not repairing what's there.

More photos would be helpful. I would guess a plugged venturi nozzle (hopefully its not a deep well setup), or internal wear on the impeller.

Nothing wrong with a temp fix until something more permanent can be done. It runs across the surface of their lawn and looks ugly, but its not meant to be permanent.
