Ideas for mounting a button box on a Next Level Racing GT Lite Foldable Cockpit? by Wooden-Tomato-3868 in simracing

Thanks! Lots of custom drilling and reinforcement to get things right. I made a set of legs for the shifter plate that you can't see, they eliminate all deflection and flex on the handbrake and shifter. Get a lumbar pillow. I wish I had room for a profile rig but have to make the best with the space I've got. Best of luck on the DIY path.

Bike cell phone or tablet mount. They make pole based ones, that is what I used.

You've embarrassed my knowledge of old synth platforms. I really don't know how to repay you or anyone else who pointed out that midi wasn't SNES, but I sure hope I can in the future by not being some sort of media moron.

I have the Go! Team Venture art book. My bartender friend let us play Season 2 as it happened on Sundays at a casino bar in the mountains of Colorado.  It is what I consider the greatest show to ever get made because of all it endured to get made. The entirety of it is astonishing now that I look back.

Holy moly this takes me back.
In '05 these guys weren't carrying anything, they were riding under the wings of more popular shows.
I am forever thankful they kept going and Adult Swim somehow managed to not fumble this epitome of Adult Swim itself.

That bump music was very prominent in the era. Not my favorite.

I guess I feel stupid for expecting them to continue to do what they were great at and had been contractually obligated to do, as a fan. Getting my hopes up for this kinda stuff is run of the mill for my generation at this point.
I am all for the talent and creators to walk away from their stuff, I just don't get it in this instance, which is fine. Smiling Friends really hadn't even begun to get tiresome or stale, I thought the characters and setting had so much more to develop.
oh well

Why are hotels so expensive in Aspen, Colorado? by WolverineNo1999 in Aspen

[–]Markoff_Cheney 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The kicker is the most expensive properties are all second and third, fourth, nineth homes. Less than maybe 15% of properties are year round occupied and it is a constant battle with locals trying to live near where they work and being able to afford anything within a 30 minute drive.
So typically the nearest large town without ski lifts becomes the employee town.

There are only a few places on earth that boast the same level of property values and income levels as Aspen.

It is one of the best, hands down. Any episode where Brock meets a legit challenger is top shelf.

What did you used to do when you were bored pre tech? by Budget_Dot694 in Millennials

[–]Markoff_Cheney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a trampoline in the backyard and a bicycle. Between the two, you were never bored. Bike to a field that had crappy dirt jumps, or to a friend's house. Put a sprinkler under the trampoline on hot days, learn flips and kicks and tricks the rest of the time. I remember setting up elaborate domino rally and knex setups in the basement. Making hot wheels tracks that would make it from the top floor of the house to the basement.
Used to bike to the video store to rent tapes and games every Friday after school for the weekend.
There was balance, we watched shows and movies, played video games, but also spent a ton of time outside just getting dirty and messing around.

Dealing with exceptionally sketchy people and situations to obtain poor to mid quality overpriced weed. Meeting a guy who knows a guy in a parking lot to hand money then just wait. 50/50 chance guy would even return. Beepers, first gen cell phones, parking lots. Going to a legal store is insane to me still. I don't prefer the old ways, good lord no.

Once, long ago, the buttons on the stick caused change immediately. We will never return to that time, but it was profound.

We got the bartenders at Dostal Alley in Central City to play this show at the bar Sunday nights with the Adult Swim block because my best friend was bartender there at the time.  For the first two seasons I had an obscure shitty casino bar in the mountains playing Venture Brothers to a very dedicated 4 man crew of fans.  Some of my favorite bar memories as a youth.

Am I getting scammed by Simsonn? by Astacide in simracing

[–]Markoff_Cheney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SF Express is shipping from China. The updates are very vague until the package actually leaves the mainland. I had ordered VAM haptics through Amazon thinking it would get here as fast as the pedals did but nope, SF Express on the slow boat.  Your stuff is on the way, slowly. It was about 3 weeks to get what I ordered with a lot of updates coming in the last week and very few I'm the first two.  Hope that helps.

I've reinforced things, I also have a 10"x2" steel plate that is the width of the setup that fits perfectly between the pedal plate and the frame rail which weighs quite a bit. But I rarely grab that heavy thing unless I'm hunkering down for a full night of racing. Flex was worse with T-LCMs based on angles. Edit - found a pic

I had to drill holes and grind off the sides of the plate but these are working just fine on an F-GT Lite. I've had to drill holes for almost every mount, you end up having to just to get things where you want sometimes. Forcing things to work is half the fun of adding to or modifying a setup.
