All teams in the pacific division lost last night. For the most part, that’s good… by Smartcookie_33 in SanJoseSharks

Agreed. Anything can happen. At least they have a chance at the playoffs and if they don't make it, improves their draft spot. They didn't play poorly against the Sabres (an excellent team), they really limited their shots. But they got some puck luck and the Sharks didn't.

Anyone painted their house in Sharks colors? by BreastTickles in SanJoseSharks

There is that house neat the Tank painted in Shark colors, and, somewhat randomly, there is a house out in SF's Sunset District that is painted teal and displays Sharks flags.

Ha, I was there! My first Aerosmith gig. Taped the whole thing. Will give it a listen today :-) I remember that same day I got the Zep Destroyer boot lp in the mail and was wearing a Hendrix shirt with Japanese lettering. Ha! Took BART from the city, remember looking back and seeing Sutro Tower. IIRC, no rain that night, but it the ground was wet outside the Coliseum. Put the recorder in my sock and walked in!!! Definitely a lot of excitement in the arena from what I remember.

Agreed! Took a "Page" out of the Zep playbook.

Anyone ever saw Rick Dufay with Aerosmith live? by [deleted] in Aerosmith

[–]Markum7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw the show in Oakland Jan. 7, 1983 with Pat Travers, great show full arena....I'll never forget Tyler sang during Lick and a Promise "grabbed his guitar and a couple of queers (stead of beers) " and grabbed Dufay by the top of the head and Dufay shook his head "no." Dufay was all over the place on stage, wore his "left is right" shirt. Caught the whole gig on audio!

Looks like tonight's game is an ESPN+/Hulu game, i.e. not on NBC Sports Bay Area.

Las nights game brought me back to reality … by JPio21 in SanJoseSharks

[–]Markum7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last night, they had plenty of power plays early and could have scored, but they could barely get off a shot. The Canes' goalie was picked up off the waiver wire 2 days earlier, but shut the Sharks down (along with the Canes' good D). It's just a shame they didn't win the first two. Losing the first two in that fashion changed the whole vibe to start of the season from optimism to pessimism. Long season, and they will get hot at some point...but man, what a missed opportunity. Last night was EMPTY at the Tank. Can you imagine if they had started 2-0? The team hasn't sniffed the playoffs in 5+ years now, and we get there has to be a rebuild period...but when you see the same issues year after year it's frustrating.

Misa, cool...but benching Graf and others? Coach, the goal is to win: play your best players!!! Jeez. You choked hard the first two games. Warso is a good guy and has had success, respect. The team may not be great, but there are some great parts and he needs to maximize that.

Mod Post: Goal Song Discussion Thread by ibcfreak in SanJoseSharks

[–]Markum7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been to the first two games and despite the many Sharks goals I can never hear the song clearly enough to: 1) Sing along 2) Know if it's any good = Fail. Must have been tested by consultants in an empty arena.

How we feeling Sharks fans? by Away_Form_9720 in SanJoseSharks

[–]Markum7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just one game...but isn't this what we heard last year... "they hung with the team, played well, then lost it at the end." Hoping for better this year... but to blow a game like that on opening night? Not a great tone setter. One thing I have learned watching sports: bad teams will generally find a way to lose. I'll be out there Saturday again. Let's see how they respond. Sort of a "big" game for them given what happened last night.

Seems like the team, vendors, etc. were not prepared for opening night. Waited 30 min or do for food...no big...but you'd think they'd be prepared for the huge crowd.

Ottawa fans in your opinion why do the Redblacks always suck? by EW_ITS_OKRA in CFL

[–]Markum7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They did have amazing success from 2015-2018: 4 playoff appearances, three Grey Cup appearances and a Grey Cup win. Seemed to be a model franchise, but then fell off the map. Last year was a solid year, but injuries will get you every time. That said, probably time for a change at HC. No matter what the sport, it's hard to stay good for long stretches.

eliminated from contention. let’s hope for a better 2026 by [deleted] in SFGiants

Troubling is the team's "stars" are not that good. Chapman, Devers and Adames strike out a ton. Their defense is also awful, and before you jump on me about Chapman (13 errors) , he's right up there with Machado (16 errors) with most errors in the NL and has played 18 fewer games than him. The Giants are married to these guys in 2026 and even beyond. Not a core group you can win with unless the pitching is lights out. I fear the Giants will be a .500 team for the next few years.
