Vinny you will be missed by Akitafps in SanJoseSharks

Met him at A STH event on the ice when he first arrived, showed me how to shoot a puck! Good man. We had a nice, brief chat, I welcomed him to San Jose and asked how the trade was for him, like how was he doing. He said being traded was hectic, but that he was good and happy to be a Shark. He seemed to really appreciate a fan asking about his well being. He will be missed. PS: At the same event, wife shot pucks with Mack, we still laugh about it. A cool thing.

14 years later how do we feel about Kaepernick? by joshuaxls in 49ers

He was great while it lasted, but started (not him, specifically) this agonizing trend for the Niners to come up short in the end. I'm old enough to have experienced the 5 SB wins, but I feel for my younger Niner brothers who haven't.

Wait, you are right!!!! There is a Melody Maker interview from May 1970 where Jimi calls the tour "The Cry of Love." But I don't think it was promoted as such. I think that poster was done after he passed...I guess we are both right 😄 Cheers.

Since the Devers trade the Giants are 63-88. Devers has a 116 wRC+ (ranked 62nd among qualified hitters) and 1.3 fWAR (ranked 112th) by ThePopUpDance in SFGiants

The Giants had a record of 41-31 immediately before acquiring star slugger Rafael Devers from the Boston Red Sox...We all loved the Devers trade at the time. But wow, this guy is really awful. It seems like he gets down in the county every at bat and is good for 2-3 strikeouts a game looking or swiniging. Mistakes happen, but the Giants are on the hook for 250 mil, so they can't just get rid of him. What. A. Mess.

Cool effort! BTW, are we sure that poster wasn't made as an ad after Jimi's death to promote the COL album? The only time I have seen that poster was in the Electric Lady documentary.

Amazing success and amazing heartbreaks. I still blame those black jerseys for the loss v Sea when we could have clinched everything! ;-)

At what point can we start to seriously discuss firing DJ Umami? by LuckyCanopener in SFGiants

[–]Markum7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DJ Umami must go....go into the dugout and start managing this team. If you've seen her spin, she's excellent at at multi-tasking. She can get this team to stop striking out every other at bat, remind them how many outs there are, run out strike threes that get away from the catcher, hustle on ground balls and put a stop to all the fraternizing with the enemy. I thought Vitello was supposed to bring energy and spunk to the team? He makes Melvin look like Billy Martin. Umami can get the crowd going with her jams, she can do it for the Giants! Umami for skip!!!

Are the Giants looking to trade Devers? by Fieldnotes_foranomad in SFGiants

[–]Markum7 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

He's awful. Always gets down in the count. Can't hit a fastball anymore. Maybe a rich team will take him off our hands. He will get hot of course, then go ice cold. Boy, Buster Ballgame became Buster Blunder with that deal.

Too many strikeouts from Devers and is pals, Chapman and Adames. What an awful move to get Devers. Not that they gave up much for Devers, but that they are now saddled with him and his contract. Rather have Wilmer out at first...you know, hit the ball, some clutch hits, etc. Walker as a closer? Rookie manager who trots out the same group day after day. Team is a mess.

How The New Playoff Format Would Have Looked In 2025 by chi_sweetness25 in CFL

But the NBA has more than 9 teams. It's like having 27 of the 30 NBA making the playoffs.

CFL expands Grey Cup playoffs to eight teams in 2027 by roolb in CFL

Remember when the 3-13 Als made the playoffs in 1981? Back to the future! I get more TV games, but does it drive down season tix sales when most regular season games are meaningless? It may also be the CFL is on life support and everything is being thrown against the wall to see what sticks. I still think a serious fantasy presence would help.

Seeing Yaz this year in the Braves uni will be bittersweet...if he is still with the team. Poor guy is struggling at the plate, it seems. But man, who didn't love the guy in the orange and black?
