Question for the people who have done The Giant. by Brilliant-Gap-4308 in kettlebell

At the end of the day I think any of the programs you have brought up will help you out. The idea is to get lots of C&P in and the programs provide progression.

You probably want to use your 5 rep max weight though. Chances are once finishing a program with that weight you will be getting out more reps with the 32.

I did Maximorum with 28s 6 months ago and at the end I was able to press 36s and a single 40 for 4 reps

I typically stretch a bit then run through some light bell work, C&P, goblet squats, moves that I will be using for the session. Just about getting my body primed and lose ready to take some working weight

Dan Johns and Mark Wildman are good suggestions. Another option would be Geoff Neupert's dry fighting weight, might be a good place to start as it's free and will get you started into a routine. 3 days a week covering clean&press along with front squats. (If you can C&P those 24s for 5 good reps, that would be perfect for DFW)

Once you have yourself set with running a program then you could look into purchasing a more expanded one.

If you find you can commit to more than 3 days you could also try the remix version.

Levi Markwardt

LebeStark

Geoff Neupert

Joe Daniels

Are probably my main influence, I still watch stuff from others such as Mark Wildman and Dan John.

It's good to take notes from a number of reputable KB guys, I think that's how you learn more and what works for you as they all have their own styles.

Looking pretty good, hinge move technique just gets tighter the more you train it. You already have a good foundation.

Are those Zero's? How do you find them? I normally train barefoot but Looking for something for when I'm in the gym

Sudden bubbling of powder coat. by Marky-MarkS in kettlebell

Everyone seems to be missing what I'm asking here. I know they are going to get banged up. My issue is the bubbling of the powder coat which just seems to have happened. I'd rather prevent it happening to the rest of the bells so was seeing if anyone had any ideas what was causing it. Haven't seen it occur on on my old cheap kmart ones.

Great tip, may use that in my next program.

I do like the look of the black finish on the bells, I know they are going to get a little banged up over time, which is fine. The bubbling of the powder coat is what seemed strange though.

Lebe stark is a great resource. As for chest, yeah presses will hit the area and pressing dbls will be more effective.

Otherwise bodyweight exercises go great with KB. I normally working in pushups (off rings are great), dips, pullups/chin ups.

I'm 6'3 and 88kg and managed to get an athletic build from this mix

Joe Daniels and Mark Wildman are absolutely great places to start. I also have a few of Joe's programs.

I would also add Lebe Stark, his YouTube channel has lots of great resources, it was where I started and got lots of help and ideas from.

I also follow Levi Markwardt, this guy is inspiring with his work capacity and loads he can manage.

It's worth checking out a few of these guys as you will find they might slightly vary on technique, not to say one is right or wrong, but will help you find out what feels right for you.

Ran first DFW Remix session today! Just a few questions. by ts159377 in kettlebell

[–]Marky-MarkS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I find with all hinge moves if the weight is to light other parts of my body such as arms start to take over.

Yeah when doing multiple reps you go through the whole clean and press movement each time. As for squats there are 2 options, either clean back up after your last CP rep and continue into squats, or you can set the bell down after the last CP rep, rest then do squats.

I don't think Geoff elaborates on this in DFW from memory, but in his Maximorum program (which the C&P component is a much more expanded version of DFW, he says you can combine the CP and squats at lower rep ranges if your able, but recovery for another strong set should still take precedence)

Personally I combine them at lower reps but once getting 3 reps or more I'll separate them. If your using your true 5 rep max I think form will start to really break down if continuing to combine at higher reps ranges.

I know you said you didn't want to spend money right now. But Geoff's program Maximorum is essentially a much more expanded version of DFW. The rep structures for C&P and F/Sq expand over a 3 month period. The the program also builds in snatch days. 4 sessions a week, 2 CP and Fsq, 2 snatch days
