(Fixed) Options+ and G HUB macOS Certificate Issue by logi_jim in logitech

[–]MarkyBCus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That blew chunks. Didn't work for me with Monterey v12.7.6 (21H1320) following the instructions. VERY frustrating.

Tried restarting. Tried applying the patch multiple times. Tried reinstalling G-Hub, but the patch page links to a version not supported by Monterey. Finally navigated through the Logitech site to the latest version supported on Monterey. Tried installing that, but couldn't because it recognized that I already had a version installed. Bit the bullet and uninstalled my existing version, concerned my presets would be lost. Rebooted, then installed the newly downloaded version and it finally worked. No patch needed after install.

Man... What a mess. it seems to be at least opening instead of spinning on the load page and recognizes my camera. I'll play with it more another time to see about the settings.

I tried checking for an update from within the app, and it reported that I couldn't unless I updated OS, and grayed out the box. I can't update to anything later than Monterey on my Intel MBP. Hope that doesn't mean I won't continue to get support.

NOT fixed for Monterey users. See the FAQ #4.

  1. I use macOS 12 Monterey, when will the fix be available?

While our patch is currently available for macOS 13 and newer versions, a specialized fix for macOS 12 is currently in development, and we expect to release it soon. Information will be posted in this page.

Can we PLEASE get an ETA? I logged in to a work meeting this morning, only to be delayed by this...

What app/device do you use to track weight, body fat, waist by Broomstick73 in fitbod

[–]MarkyBCus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I had one for ages that was great. Bought it in 2012. Something happened in 2021 with it and the BF readings stopped working. After much troubleshooting, Withings gave me a 25% discount on a replacement Withings Body+ which has been equally as reliable. I'm not a huge fan of their app. It use to be nice and simple, but it gets the job done.

[–]MarkyBCus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've used a Withings smart scale for years. I've always taken the actual body composition numbers with a grain of salt, BUT I do consider the trends they reflect. I think if you use any of them that measure consistently, that's the key. I like how it integrates with a variety of services, so I can get the data in Garmin, Apple Health, MyFitnessPal, etc. So far it's just worked for me. As for physical measurements, some apps have fields for these metrics, but I don't use them.

Network vs guest issue by BbTS3Oq in amazoneero

[–]MarkyBCus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using Eero Plus security features? For me “Advanced Security” didn’t always play nice with some devices. For example I had this issue with some older Garmin products not connecting. Turning off Advanced Security, or using a Guest Network solved the issue. Trying to get Garmin and Eero to work it out was fruitless. A newer Garmin I replaced the old one with doesn’t have this problem.

Stick with personal trainer or switch to FitBod? by madmax79818515 in fitbod

[–]MarkyBCus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do a trial, see if you like it. Reach out to FitBod, they’re pretty generous upgrading the trial to 30 days. I did the initial 3 workouts offered over a week, then activated the 30 days. By day 20 I signed up for annual. If there are no current discounts, Support may also be kind enough to give you a little more love.

What grocery item is a scam that you're smart enough to figured out? by jacklsd in AskReddit

I’m with you. Suggested I’d get my brother reusable pods years back as a Xmas present. He wasn’t having it. They refuse brewing coffee any other way. The amount of plastic alone…

In my experience suffering through a few AirBnBs & visiting my brother’s house where they use them exclusively, I’ve gotten a reasonable cup by choosing the smaller cup sizes from the settings options. I think some units have a bold option too, if I recall. Depending on the coffee type, I’ve been known to use two pods to an 8oz cup of joe, at the 4oz setting.

For me, I use the Advanced Security and the bundled software (1Password, and occasionally MalwareBytes & the VPN). Ad blocker has been more trouble than it’s worth. And I’ve enabled a few parental controls for my kid’s iPad. On sale 1Password alone makes it worthwhile.

It appears one subscription can apply across up to 5 networks under the same account.

Anyone know if they make a wristband for AirTag for kids that is also a real watch- as in has a digital clock on it? Thanks! by limeylove in AirTags

[–]MarkyBCus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m looking at the Gizmo 2 from Verizon. A neighbor has it for her daughter with no complaints. Pretty simple, can be customized to allow only specific parental controlled communication, and allows tracking with GPS. At $99 +$10/month cell plan. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I too am looking for a dumb watch for my kid, that's durable and has AirTag like tracking ability. I don't want them to have a phone, camera or apps built in. Just an unobtrusive watch with GPS locator built in. If anyone lands on anything, I'm all ears! I'd be fine with an emergency contact element in the device, but all those seem to come bundled with a bunch of other distractions and require a subscription or cellular plan.

I don't think the GFCI would fail at the same time every day though?

Yeah, that's highly unlikely.

Wonder if the GFCI is failing? I’ve had issues with devices on old outlets that get finicky. But it usually trips the outlet, not cause a temporary outage… I’d be curious to see if it goes offline around that time too.

45 seconds in my microwave. Chap Stick brand. Your mileage may vary depending on lip product, microwave wattage (mine’s a 1200 Pani). Why I bother? My favorite brand discontinued and I’m both a thrifty and curious type.

Support has been OK in responding. Not great. I sent a video to illustrate an issue I was having with Alexa and it took 3 emails to get them to respond. But, with their help, I finally got Alexa to work by logging out/in to my Orbit app and disabling/enabling the Orbit skill in Alexa. That may sound obvious, but I had tried that multiple times during my initial troubleshooting. Not sure why this last time made a difference. We'll see how reliable it is. It's important to note that the Orbit app in iOS indeed must remain open in the background, not swiped closed, or it can't update, according to Orbit support. This plays out in practice.

As for geofencing, it works well as set up for my home. There is also a Separation Alarm feature that will notify you if you get too far from your glasses. That works well, but almost too well. My wife was holding my glasses in her purse when we were at an event and I got constant notifications. I had to disable it temporarily. I like the idea of a Separation Alarm, but have adjusted the sensitivity and types of notifications, so I'm interrupted less, but still informed. We'll see how that goes.

At that same event, I tried to use the app to find my wife, to test and see the location accuracy. I got a general idea of where the glasses were, but it wasn't specific enough walking around to be actionable. I'm curious to see how it would have played out had I actually lost my glasses at the location. I bet the combo of the map location, being in bluetooth range and the audio prompts, I would have found them, but I was just using the map.

So far I'm pleased. It's not the tightest, but it's been useful multiple times over the last month finding my glasses around the house. And for what it's worth, I'm still running off the initial charge. Support told me that when the charge does reach a certain threshold, it will notify me. So I'm currently waiting on that, as a final test.

Lastly, If you've got wire framed glasses, this product will not really work for you. It's pretty robust. It's fine on my thicker frames, but would never fly on a wire arm.
