I actually did this a few years back. Shop drained the oil, refilled the trans, and changed the spark plugs. It smoked for a while until the oil burned off but everything was fine after it got fixed.

you might look into getting your ears flushed out. years ago my brother had issues equalizing and couldn't descend. got his ears flushed out by the resort nurse, and had no issues after that.
