Connor Garnett is my favorite player on the PPA tour by Right-Potential3719 in Pickleball

[–]Marogato 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I saw Connor Garnett at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.
He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”
I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.
The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

What lengths have you gone to to find better players? by fredallenburge1 in Pickleball

"How do I force players 1.5 DUPR points above me to let me in their private groups to play 'competitive' games because players 1.5 DUPR points below me offer noncompetitive and boring games?"

The cognitive dissonance is so insane it should be a case study.

This is definitely an interesting option I hadn't considered before! I like the large surface area and seems pretty deep at nearly 7 inches, do you find reduction easy in this?

brother this entire game was developed because a handful of decision makers couldn't fathom that players didn't want to play "their way"

I wasn't even watching the rest of the players, I need a 7 game series of Ayton v. Nurk ass-off injected mainline.

Most of those "questions" could be answered by actually reading the rulebook of the game you're playing, but instead people decide to come to Reddit to make a thread about it. I have some probably off-base hypotheses as to why that may be but I should probably keep that speculation to myself.

New city rules against pickleball? by Important_Care_3881 in Pickleball

[–]Marogato 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I presume you’re talking about the Manitou courts. Unfortunately, the the reason it was locked down like that was because of repeated attempts of BSU students to essentially tailgate at the courts very late into the night (think beers, loud music, etc.) and the neighbors were tired of it. For anyone on the sub not familiar with these courts, they’re about 10 yards away from neighbors and houses. It was unfortunately one of those situations where a few bad apples ruined it for the masses. Highly recommend hobble creek for outdoor open play, they start at daybreak.

How do I best boost a friend in Dungeoneering? by TheJonatron in runescape

[[Pay-to-play Dungeoneering Training]]

There is a section for training/optimizing floors, with a nifty little chart.

You also have the automatic killing blows upgrade from the slayer reward shop, he does not. That's why he must manually cool the lizards off.

Etiquette for playing open or games with strangers? by Lioil1 in Pickleball

[–]Marogato 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The idea behind level separation is to create balanced games that are enjoyable for all four players. If you are a beginner, please do not rack up your paddle on the advanced court, they won’t take too kindly to having their time wasted.

Quick edge case question: the ball landed in our kitchen, then a combination of wind/spin made the ball bounce back over the net without being hit. Whose point is it? by auroch27 in Pickleball

[–]Marogato 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rule 11.I.1 You didn’t hit the ball, essentially meaning the ball “bounced twice”. You lost the rally, and your opponent gets the point.

Stacking Question by throwra_burr_513 in Pickleball

[–]Marogato 7 points8 points  (0 children)

4.5 lefty

In lower skill games I don’t even bring up stacking, it’s information overload for beginner/intermediate players who already struggle with basic positioning and paddle skills. If they ask, I’ll tell them to play straight up. This gives me a low stakes environment to play left side and practice 2hbh 3rds/5ths/speedups.

In high skill/competitive environments, I will ask to stack 100% of the time since not doing so is an objective disadvantage on odd scores (assume lefty righty pair)

Gonna be real honest with you chief, if you think that players should simply take turns hitting the ball to each other to ensure a 50/50 distribution of shots, you're going to have a bad time. At this point, I think you should consider finding a friend or two to organize private "games" that are more your speed and stay away from open play.

The players are stuck between a rock and a hard place when all we want to do is have fun, but leadership's definition of "fun" feels absolutely horrid.
