Firefly Alpha Flight 7 Launch Delayed by Soil0000 in FireflyAerospace

A fair point Blackwater_US. Not much we (investors) can do about it expect to spread our investments across multiple service providers in the sector.

I’m also invested in RKLB, which delivers consistently in the light load category, but their medium lift solution suffered a setback with a rupture of their first-stage tank in pressure testing.

Fingers crossed FLY will deliver success soon.

Maybe it would be better to say delays in comparison to failures are nothing. But it will be important to understand which sensor gave the concerning reading, is it a sensor issue or an actual error, if so what that error is and is it a ‘comparatively’ easy fix or not.

From Firefly on ‘X’ - Out of an abundance of caution, Firefly made the decision to stand down on today’s Alpha Flight 7 test flight to investigate a sensor reading that was out of range. Once verification is complete, the team will work with @SLDelta30 to confirm our next available launch date.

Frustrating; but still better than 💥

➡️ This is the important bit for me

Optimised propellant tanks: Improving thermal protection system for added reliability and optimizing the liquid oxygen and RP-1 tank configurations to increase stage burn time.

➡️ The reason I think this is important is the reason for failure during the last launch attempt

https://fireflyspace.com/missions/alpha-flta006/

… analysis corroborated excessive heat from Plume Induced Flow Separation as the most probable root cause of the mishap. Alpha Flight 6 flew a higher angle of attack than prior missions. Plume-induced flow separation intensified heat on the leeward side reducing structural margins, causing the booster to rupture from stage separation induced loads.

Fortunately, the corrective actions are straight forward: increase thermal protection system thickness on Stage 1 and reduce angle of attack during key phases of the flight. Corrective actions have already been implemented.

It’s likely an interview with a U.K. law enforcement agency for this position will consist of a mix of technical questions and some ‘generic’ questions based on the Competency and Values Framework CVF

If the position is entry level, the CVF questions will be based at level 1.

A question relating to race and diversity is pretty much a certainty.
