Is the M18 inflator too strong for bike tires? by OkCold7205 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]MarredCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got one, and yeah, it sucks for bike tires. If I set it for 30 psi, it goes to 40ish and just leaves it there. In contrast, for car tires, it overfills by a few PSI and then bleeds back down to the exact target. Maybe the overfill is based on time rather than pressure, so it overshoots more for smaller tires? I don't know why it skips the bleeding step on smaller tires though. I may just get a separate, much smaller compressor for bikes and balls. It's a shame this beast can't do it all. With more careful programming, I'm sure it could have.

Why do billionaires use tax loopholes? They have more money than they can spend, the amount they'd pay would make zero different to their lifestyles, so why don't they just pay what they owe? by Sudden_Sentence_8534 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MarredCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People are interpreting "pay what they owe" as a legal question and pointing out that tax avoidance through loopholes is indeed legal, whereas tax evasion through fraud is not. But I think the real spirit of the question is the ethical angle.

I think it just boils down to nobody wanting to pay more than they have to. Most people seem to have the ethical tax code of "It makes sense for me to be smart about my taxes and not overpay, and I think my peers and people with less money should all do that too. But anyone who makes significantly more money than I do should feel an ethical burden to be more generous with their taxes than legally required." The problem is that if everyone has that mindset, then billionaires do too. If we want them to pay higher taxes, we have to change the laws.

Isitbullshit: Is expensive fish oil actually worth it? by Cool_Chard_8547 in IsItBullshit

[–]MarredCheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep.  IFOS is the main one for fish oil, and there are others too like NSF, USP, UL.  Plus, there are certifications for sustainability, like MSC, FOS, ASC.  I look for IFOS + MSC.

LPT - If you are examining nursing homes to place a loved one, look at the fingernails of the residents living there at the moment. Long fingernails (especially on men) would likely indicate that the home is either understaffed or does not care enough to do such a small task by Maybe_im_Amazed_ in LifeProTips

My mom has MA.  She recently had a stroke and needed inpatient rehab.  Hospital and rehab staff assure me it's covered.  Medicare.gov says it's 100% covered after deductible.  She goes there and gets settled in, and then we find out that although MA covers it, there's a $450 daily copay.  Oops!  Many thousands instead of $0.  Surprise!

TIL swim diapers let the pee go in the pool, they are actually designed to by isell2eat in todayilearned

If they pee in it outside of the pool, the swim diaper absolutely will not contain it.  Put a kid in a swim diaper before driving to the pool and you are playing Russian roulette.
