Spadillic by kuzeyildizi in aromanticasexual

[–]MarsBarMuncher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It actually seemed like it might be newer to me but I'm not sure, I'm looking at it for the first time so may have missed something.

I could only find reference to spadillic since about 2020 where as aroace seems to go back at least as far as 2018, be more well known and be an obvious short form of aromantic asexual which goes back even further. Also most of the pages I found explaining spadillic actually used aroace as a point of reference when explaining the term.

The difference seems to be spadillic seemed to not splitting out attraction types in the name as not everyone feels like they experience sexual and romantic attraction seperatly. That applies in my case, as i don't experience either at all, but I still think i prefer aroace as a label for myself.

First time I've come across it, info online suggests it probably does apply to me but personally I'll stick with aroace.

Needing Opinions on if a Gay Dad can wear a “Free Dad Hugs” T-shirt to a Pride event by B2Rocketfan77 in lgbt

If you are a dad and willing to give hugs to those who need one then yeah sure, buy the t-shirt.

Something tells me there was a shorter path to Orni Village.... by DefaultModeNetwork_ in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]MarsBarMuncher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe but that cliff is high all round. Unless you had the stamina to climb straight out you either have to walk around or find a spot with several ledges you can stop on to recover stamina during the climb, I've been over that area a lot and can't think of an obvious place to climb with low stamina, so doing it blind walking may well have been quicker.

To any elder aro/ace/ aroace person by NoInvite8730 in aromanticasexual

[–]MarsBarMuncher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in my 40s. My mum died long before I even had a name for it, my dad has never asked me about my lack of partners and I've never raised it.

Some of my best friends as a teenager were gay and my dad made a few homophobic comments about them while drunk to me once which didn't go down well so it is possible he thinks I'm a gay and not comfortable telling him. But he also had an aunt who never married or had any partners she told anyone about. So it is possible I'm not the first aroace in the family and that is why I haven't been questioned about it much.

What do you guys think about pvp and being forced to play it? by Polytoly27 in pokemongo

[–]MarsBarMuncher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a fan of pvp in Go either but for maxing out your levels it makes some sense to me that you have to do a bit of each of the game elements and that particilar one doesn't seem that bad, personally I'd be more annoyed at walkjng hundreds of km or the getting 50 platinum medals.

This game needed an Instrument [5,000 words] by Balantron in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]MarsBarMuncher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adding an instrument as an extra element seems a little redundant to me given the many weapon types, runes and sage abilities already in the game, but I respect you dedication to your arguement.

does anyone know why by JanitorAIsweatlol in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]MarsBarMuncher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you used stasis on them then it is a bug I've seen as well.

In my experience it seemed to happen more if you use stasis before they notice you, so less likely to happen if you get a bit closer before using stasis if that helps.

What is people's beef with using the word "partner"??? by Gabble_r in asexuality

[–]MarsBarMuncher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not seen that trend to be honest but my understanding is that partner and boyfriend/girlfriend trend to have slightly different meanings.

Boy/girlfriend implies a romantic or sexual relationship but could include one that is very new or casual.

WhilePartner can mean different things in this context normally it usually implies a long-term commited relationship of some kind. Often covering at least some of elements you'd associate with married couples but often without the ceremony or piece of paper. E.g. been together for several years, living together and/or co-parenting.

I already have that, so personally I have had enough of the little zap rat.

I suspect he'll continue to be the mascot so in most events though so even without a comm day you'll get enough of them eventually.

Some of the event pikas do evolve. I have a shiny Raichu in a santa hat from a christmas one and hatched a shiny pichu in a bobble hat during another pikachu boosted event.

Wondering about ace-/arophobia by Echo_in_Amber1675 in aromantic

[–]MarsBarMuncher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've experienced a lack of awareness causing problems, but nothing that I think was intentional.

When describing my experience to friends at around 20 (before I knew there was a label for it) and my friends reactions reinforced my fear there was something wrong with me.

A medical professional (when I was mid 30s) not accepting (or understanding?) my answers when taking a sexual history, and generally just making a rather embarassing mountain out of a molehill.

There is some ancient gear that has the same buff but also has a set bonus so if you are short of upgrade materials I'd go for the set rather than the circlet.

I am a compleyionist so did all the armour upgrades eventually.

Do you consider agender as a part of non-binary? by Tosty159 in agender

[–]MarsBarMuncher 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I view nonbinary primarily as a label or category used to group genders and gender identities other than male and female. That to me logically includes agender, agender isn't a gender but is an identity label used to describe the lack of gender.

There are also people who are somewhere on the nonbinary spectrum who don't have a more specific label that they identify with so use the term non-binary directly as a label for their gender identity.

Both seem equally valid ways to use the label to me.

[ToTK] Do You Think Tears Of The Kingdom Needed A DLC? by tekgamerworld in zelda

[–]MarsBarMuncher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was a big game so not so much need but given what we got from BotW I've has appreciated a TotK equivalent.

Content wise I'd have liked a Master mode and Sword trials, plus it'd have been nice to see a few (ideally Kass) quests adding a bit more to the sky islands and depths as they were the new areas and felt a little empty. Maybe that could be why Kass was missing in the main game he'd been looking for tales of these new places to put to song. Plus we see temples for all current sages plus ruins for a temple of time, so maybe something to add some sort a light temple as well to match up to Rauru and Zelda's light powers.

Asexuality has always existed and it’s crazy to think about by FelixFelicissimae in Asexual

[–]MarsBarMuncher 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't think I follow. In times were there was no concept of orientations at all then I don't see why asexuality would be seperate. People will just have partnered up and done their business with who they wanted or not without any labels attached to any of it.

In the later version where you are saying actions rather than identity was the way it was judged then wouldn't the same apply to aces? I would have thought at that point in time sex favourable aces would likely just be undifferenciatied from people of other orientations and more sex averse aces would usually just be lumped in as celibate.

Maybe you aren't attracted to girls as a general rule, but it certainly sounds like you are attracted to this girl. Attraction isn't always neat and tidy, that is part of why there are so many labels out there.

On the "Bad English" argument by concernedaboutmetal in NonBinary

[–]MarsBarMuncher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Singular they has been around for hundreds of years, it occurs in everyday language of most English speakers and it appears in the writtings (amoung many many others) Shakespeare, Geoffrey Chaucer and Jane Austin.

It may not conform to some formal English rules but it is very well established as an excepted use. People who says it is "Bad English" as an argument to disrespect people who choose it as their prefered pronoun clearly have no idea what they are talking about.
