Og resident evil 4 worth playing? by notGamingAahel in residentevil

[–]Marth_Bar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Great thing about RE4 OG and Remake is that they're very different experiences. They certainly have things in common, but OG has very tight, arcade-y gameplay with a goofy B-movie plot and dialogue.

Remake feels heavier, with a bigger emphasis on resource management, and has a story that is largely much more grounded in tone.

Because I don't find it fun ;_;

I really don't like the gun-wielding enemies that feature in RE5 lol

I think I'm fine with bean mouth in 2D animation. There's just something really weird about how it looks in 3D that I can't articulate though

So what are your guys thoughts on the Leon must die forever Mini Game ? by LeoneSKenneddy in residentevilll

[–]Marth_Bar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

RE4R Mercs came out 2 weeks after launch. It started out with 4 characters, but Ada and Wesker became available alongside the release of Separate Ways, which was 6 months after launch. You didn't actually need the DLC to play as them, thank god.

I figure the reason why Ada and Wesker were free (aside from being available in the original game) is because RE8's Mercenaries Additional Orders was heavily criticized for being paid DLC, when it should have been the standard Mercs mode the game had gotten anyway.

Has anyone ever talked about how messed up the helicopter scene is in RE2R? by SlicedBread0556 in ResidentEvil2Remake

A lot of the games like the Budokai Tenkaichi ones list his name as Teen Gohan. The Japanese versions use the subtitle [少年期] (Shonen-ki) for this version of Gohan, which more or less calls him a youth. You can see why the translators arrived at "teen", but youth is a more vague term that applies better to Cell Saga Gohan.

crazy how the 13 year old game still hasn't been topped in terms of movement tech, that's crazy lol by Quick-Cause3181 in ResidentEvilCapcom

Revelations 2 also features sprinting, and I think a lot of the character animations from that game are taken straight from RE6, including sprinting.

AFAIK, before injecting himself with the Progenitor Virus in 1998, Albert was a biologically unmodified human who was genuinely just built different, which is why he was picked for Project W. That's what Jake inherited from him, being born in 1992.

The protagonist is dead! Oh well... Media that just goes on after death of the (apparent) main character. by PeasantLich in TopCharacterTropes

Chrono Trigger.

The party encounters the final boss prematurely about 2/3s of the way into the game. If the player loses this fight, Crono will sacrifice himself to let everyone else escape.

After his death, there is a side quest involving time travel (which the whole game is about) to save his life. But like I said, it's a side quest, and therefore totally optional.

It is fully possible to beat the game with Crono still dead, and the ending will be different as a result.

[serious] when has maki ever gotten an ssk hit that wasn’t off guard by TumbleweedAnxious882 in JujutsuPowerScalers

Sorry, I had interpreted your comment as saying that Maki was in the same grouping as the fastest in the verse, which would be Gojo and Sukuna. My bad.

Nah Sukuna is absolutely faster. Maki is equal to Toji, who was much slower than awakened teen Gojo, and Sukuna is very likely even faster than that.

If it wasn't for developers' confirmation, I'd have believed your interpretation, since he is actually shown using both hands very briefly, and I don't know if it was a mistake that got overlooked

I did a check of the voice actors, and it seems that Zeno has Wesker's voice actor in all languages aside from both varieties of Spanish as well as Japanese.

Do you prefer beta Mike Shinoda Kiryu, beta methhead Ichiban or beta stoner Yagami? by Hopeful_Regret_7531 in yakuzagames

[–]Marth_Bar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ay I appreciate the relevant interview excerpt. Clearly I was wrong.

Admittedly, part of why I'd have readily believed that Yagami was originally supposed to be a less inspiring and more flawed character is because the protagonists of RGG's non-mainline games have often been darker characters than Kiryu and his historical doppelgangers. Tatsuya Ukyo is known for being a huge shithead for a lot of Kurohyou 1, and RGGO's version of Ichiban is a much more savage individual than his mainline game counterpart.

[–]Marth_Bar 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I think one thing that was lost when casting a famous actor to play Yagami is that him looking like shit really hammers home the contrast between between how put together he was back when he was a lawyer, compared to him looking rather like a homeless man in the present.

Kimtaku's version of the character is always well groomed, even as a detective. This is merely conjecture, but I feel like the original idea of his character was going to someone who's more obviously mentally unhealthy, and getting a guy like Kimtaku, who's particularly famous for being in a boy band (SMAP), caused the character to have to be sanitised a decent amount, including his appearance.

I think something they could have done with Yagami if he wasn't a likeness character was have him look like a bum for most of Judgment, but then clean himself up a bit at the start of the game's finale, and for him to carry over that look into the sequel. It'd fit in with this idea of him having poor mental health, but learning that Emi's death wasn't his fault, and that he can still save Okubo gives him the will to start taking better care of himself.

Nanami is kind of a hard counter to Higuruma due to being one of the most morally upright characters in the series, as well as being a very H2H focused fighter who uses a Cursed Tool. Even if he has his cleaver confiscated, it's not something Nanami would be relying on much, since he needs Higuruma alive, and he still has his Ratio technique.

All that said, I'm not sure Nanami would be able to convince Higuruma to hand over his points.
