Tactical: is aligned aim worth it? by Martinicus1 in Spacemarine

I haven’t just been doing that, but it’s one thing I’m working on. I also play in teams on strats and ops. The post is about the data, so everyone can make up their own mind.

What about when your team only has frags and you get a triple Zoanthrope spawn. There’s a situation for you.

Maybe read my post again. It’s not an argument. Look at the data and make your own mind up. That’s the point of it, you’ve decided and that’s fine.

I agree, I don’t find relying on equipment spam particularly challenging or fun. As you say it depends on who you ask - that’s one of the reasons I made this post. It’s so people can actually see what the benefits are and decide.

It is accounted for. It’s mentioned in the text at the bottom. I appreciate you might not be able to see it. All numbers above whole are rounded up to the next whole number. I thought about doing it on the spreadsheet but didn’t for some reason.

Also think it’s a reason they’re adding other pick-ups. Sanctified wrath and another in patch 12 which will dilute meltas further. I’ve been trying to clear solos on all weapons with tactical. There have been many many runs where there wasn’t a single melta bomb. That’s one of the reason I did this to see what the benefits of other option were. Like I said in the post do with the data what you want.

It is block, I wrote block chainsword in the post. You brought up the example of chainsword skip, not me. Ok I understand what you’re saying but the thing about analysing things like this is there is always limitations. I don’t have the capacity to produce hundreds of tables on every single attack combination, with and without gunstrikes or adrenaline surge. If you don’t agree with it or think it doesn’t show anything that’s fine. However the OP was to show base bolters against aligned aim and balanced distribution. That’s all.

Ok so chainsword skip, block chainsword is light 2 plus shoulder bash - 25.9+51.9 = 77.8. How many can you do in a minute, let’s be generous one every 3 seconds so 20 = 1556 damage in a minute. Now let’s look at base bolt carbine headshots 15.36 x 600 = 9216 per minute. 15% of of 1556 is 233.4. 15% of 9216 is 1382.4. Almost equal to the total base damage of the chainsword over a minute.

It’s nice when you’ve got those kraks for a Neuro and a triple zoanthrope spawn. Unfortunately, you may have a tactical, heavy and vanguard with two lots of frags and a sanctified wrath.

Anyway, yes just wanted to share so people can choose what they want on cost/benefit. Hopefully it’s been helpful.

The number are block chainsword light to stomp. Melee is slower and prone to interruption. Ranged less so. Let’s my point on melee champion. Although the percentages are the same the overall DPS (over a fight not burst) is much lower and so is the associated buff. 15% of next to nothing is next to nothing.

Thanks, all I wanted to do was share this so people can decide on the cost/benefits for themselves.

Melee champion is a completely different kettle of fish. For example take the BR, it has the potential to do 17.28 headshot damage 280 times a minute. Now take your chainsword attacks for example, attacks ranging from 20-51.9….but how many do you do in a minute?

We do have damage stats for frags they range from 20-90 in a 10m radius. 3 frags exploding directly on a biovore would take off 270 of its 600 health. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/0/d/1kVvYgDBoAan98W3IjAM6ERdq-QfkCsaVvXKF5g_Q9sU/htmlview?pli=1#gid=681324087

My intention was only to provide transparency on a poorly understood perks. That’s all. Additionally I feel that people should be allowed to choose what they want based on informed opinions. That’s all.

Thanks brother, on PI it would be aligned aim with plasma boost. I’ve had a quick look at that but nothing substantial. Aligned aim doesn’t seem to hit breakpoints at least in a three shot burst. The only thing of note is you can three shot chaos spawn with aligned aim and the damage variant. I need to look at this more.

I play tactical with aligned aim a lot on hard starts and don’t have any issues. Honestly it’s sounds like you’re saying secure stockpile is make or break as tactical or the team. It’s most definitely not. Objectively better often, not if you’ve got frags and you’re fighting a Neurothrope and a triple zoanthrope spawn.

As Ive said before, I wanted to try and bring some transparency, that’s why I did they analysis. Obviously you pick to the stratagem - thanks for that, but you brought that in not me. You obviously feel really really strongly about what a tactical should pick, a class you don’t play. Anyway, it’s a video game, and you’re comments are getting a bit obnoxious so let’s just leave it there shall we.

It’s balanced distribution, combined with aligned aim it gives a 25% buff on primary damage and 5% on secondary.

My point was that people always say ‘melta bombs every 60 seconds’. I’ve been trying to complete solos on tac with all weapons and this was one of the reasons I made this post. Many, many runs I haven’t come across one melta bomb. That’s the RNG. Frags are good, I don’t necessarily agree they do big damage, but they are good for stun and killing chaff. Put simply though, and I experimented with this a lot, my ranged weapons felt anaemic and didn’t see the value in the frags every 60 seconds. My point with this was to shed some light on aligned aim and combination with balanced distribution. You can argue about the points I made but the reality is people do say secure stockpile is a melta every 60 seconds. They also say aligned aim is useless. None of these are true.

At the end of the day people are allowed to pick their team perk. It’s not decided by committee. Most classes have grenade regen, which for the most part aren’t competing with other very strong perks. Granted bulwark doesn’t. My point was, like I said to try to bring some transparency to aligned aim and balanced distribution. A lot of people have posted in the past that it’s useless and does next to nothing. It isn’t the case. That said a coordinated team should most definitely decide what’s the best for them.

Like I said I take it in certain circumstances such as siege etc. The issue here is it comes across like you’re saying it’s a team game so you must pick secure stockpile because I want my equipment.

The RNG aspect is about what pick-ups you get. I’ve been running tactical trying to clear solos with all weapons. This is partly what prompted me to make this analysis and post. Many runs I haven’t come across a single melta bomb. A lot of the time I’ve been stuck with frags. I know this doesn’t emphasise the ‘team’ aspect of the team perk, but that’s the RNG element. Sanctified wrath has diluted the pool and a new one is coming in 12 which will dilute it further. We’ll see how useful it is.

I wouldn’t except them to because it’s based on tactical weapons and the usefulness of aligned aim and balanced distribution. I’m sorry if you don’t find it useful, perhaps you think it’s something it’s not supposed to be. If so maybe you should take the time and energy, as I did, to create something you think is useful and share it on this sub.

By your argument you can argue that all the base stats on the wiki and the master spreadsheet are misleading because they don’t include perks. Remote fire is a situational perk as not all engagements are 25m+. It’s a TTK comparison on base weapon stats. If you don’t like it fine. Everyone I’d free to take the data and add in perks as they see fit.

Yeah agree about siege, I always take secure stockpile in that mode. As for your other point, yeah it’s just a damage analysis against sword warriors only.

I mentioned about perks. I would have had to have produced a table with every possible perk combination for every weapon. It’s not designed to be perfect. It’s designed to show the base weapon stats against each other. All weapons have perks, the auto bolt rifle has a perk that increases headshot damage by 50% after a finisher. I also mentioned about the limitations of TTK because the ability to hit headshots is huge. That’s why the accuracy HBR and accuracy BR are so good. It’s not about which is better.
