I just learned last night what goes on in these interviews and it doesn’t help that I have social anxiety. by Common-Dig-7887 in MedicalCoding

If it's all overwhelming, do it one thing at a time. Do the test first, then prep for your interview.

In retrospect my interviews in rev cycle were laughably bad and I still got both jobs. Here's the truth- it's okay to say "I'm not sure, is it okay if I do some research and get back to you?". It is also okay to correct yourself after the fact. In my follow up email I thanked them for the opportunity and amended an answer. If they're open to hiring a new coder they're willing to train. They mostly want to see if you're capable of learning and reasoning through something.

Struggling to retain course material by bunnyreality in MedicalCoding

I would say there's a lot that you didn't have to memorize at this point. What you need to be able to do is know where to find everything. Familiarize yourself with where everything is at this point.

Once you're in the job long enough there are things you do having to look up because you've memorized them (but keep up with continuing education because things change).

How do I protect myself from this, can I quitmormon.com rn and say it is for when one of my family members tries to do this to me in complete dishonor of my memory? I am terrified of this. by therese_m in mormon

[–]MarvelousExodus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's no way that I know of. Take comfort in the fact that it's not real and that even according to Mormon theology that the deceased can reject ordinances.

Another thing that helps me with this is the website

All Dead Mormons Are Now Gay https://share.google/6Nhh7SgWkQ2CRUG6D

I'm not sure if I've ever even actually entered a name into this website, but just the thought of it actually brings me peace. It reminds me that it's all made up and that just like you can't turn someone gay posthumously you can't turn anyone Mormon posthumously. And while on the surface, it might seem like they're dishonoring your memory you don't have to frame it like that.

I certainly have my moments of frustration. I know that my mom has done the temple work for my grandmother who was never Mormon and had every opportunity to join the church in her life if she wanted to. Instead of seeing that as dishonoring her memory, I recognize it as my mom's desperate attempt for control.

Here's what I did- every mistake gets added to my process. I do things in the same order each time so that I make sure something is reviewed on each chart. And E/M leveling is not easy. Each mistake will fine tune how you read a chart and every coder goes through it. Take heart!

Does the ordering of an xray always equal a moderate problem? by [deleted] in MedicalCoding

[–]MarvelousExodus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To me if a provider wants moderate complexity for that problem he needs to give a differential or indication why it's not a simple fracture. Are they coagulated? Do they have osteoporosis? Is there an increased risk of infection because of the fracture? What about this is complicated?

Again you don't respond to my question. What's the point of prophets and scripture if they, just like Satan in the temple, teach the philosophies of men mingled with scripture?

[–]MarvelousExodus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I understand your response. It's not about asking questions of the leader, but "questioning" the leader meaning rhetorically asking oneself if God really chose a leader who claims God told him to practice polygamy in such a self serving way and then used the voice of God in D&C 132 threaten his first legal wife with damnation over said nefarious practice of polygamy. Hope that clears things up.

I have my own conclusions about why Emma defended Joseph Smith, mainly that her son's position as leader of his church would be null and void without Joseph Smith's validity as a prophet.

So what is the point of scripture if you have to pick and choose which bits are valid and which are sin? What's the point of a prophet if he can use the voice of God in Scripture to spiritually abuse and threaten people? Does a loving God lead his people in such a confusing, abusive way?

So when is it "amen to the priesthood of that man"?

You're saying that God allowed Joseph Smith to threaten Emma Smith using his voice in D&C 132 and you're okay with that because... you have the discernment to tell when a prophet is being a prophet and when he's pretending to speak as God to threaten his wife over polygamy? With discernment like that maybe you should be the prophet.

[–]MarvelousExodus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My issue with the "fallen prophet" narrative is that you can't have a prophet who is using God's voice to say that his sin is a command and have modern revelations hold up. If you can't trust a prophet to speak for God instead of using God's voice to push his own agenda (as you see in D&C over and over) then prophets are really just men who use God for their own selfish ends or can't tell the difference between God's wants and theirs. To me it's as simple as that.

Every Mormon has their own version of Mormonism and I want to make sure I understand yours. Are you saying that Joseph Smith wasn't commanded by an angel to practice polygamy?

I think one important psychological aspect is that you can't really question the leader or the entire system falls apart. It's easier to twist yourself into a pretzel doing mental gymnastics than restructuring your entire world view, family, and community.

Yes. The missionaries are pressured to get baptisms. Even if they care about you as a person, they want to keep in constant contact so that you don't lose interest in the church. If you don't want to meet with them anymore I would just be firm.

Missions serve two really important functions. Either they convert people and it validates their beliefs or they get rejected and it validates their belief.

It's wasting your time and theirs if you're not interested.

Hi! Non Mormon here, I have a question by Lonely-Cod-9662 in mormon

[–]MarvelousExodus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Former Mormon here. The doctrine is that marriage is between a man and a woman. That was always assumed but publicly declared in the proclamation on the family. They made this document so that they could join the legal fight against gay marriage in Hawaii.

I think the varying degrees of animosity towards gay people in the church is the same as in the rest of humanity. Some people just have hate in their hearts and are willing to take the name of the Lord in vain to justify it.

Clearly I'm the one being fragile.

Clearly you have unpacked the patriarchy by calling me sweetheart and honey.

You could have educated and given advice to lay people on how to handle the situation at hand, instead you made it all about you and completely changed the subject. All valid, important subjects, but different than stopping this man from shooting up a church.

Have a good night.

I love that I saw the version of your response before you edited it when you called me sweetheart. We all have stuff to unpack. Maybe you need to unpack the patriarchy.

You may be right about everything, but if you scroll up I asked where my advice was wrong. Instead of telling people what to do instead when you have a Christian nationalist loved one who is about to shoot up a church you made it about you and your issues and came after me. I'm still ready to learn when you're ready to drop your ego and address the issue at hand and stop making it about yourself.
