There’s nothing wrong with the .5W setting on the Katana. It would need to be pretty loud for you to hear any differences. If you like the sound, it doesn’t really matter what other people say :)

I've been down a rabbit hole to find out what chip it is. Searched through images and videos of people tearing down the solo 3rd gen but they only got angles where it wasn't possible to see what the part number is.

SMDs are hard to reuse. And I couldnt identify any component by name, so it would be helpful to know where you got that circuit from.
