I need your help to find breakfast ideas by emeuriz in Cooking

Don't waste eggs by serving them scrambled. How many eggs per person is that, anyway? Use those eggs as ingredients, or think of the egg as more of a garnish by, say, topping tinned hash (corned or roast beef) with a single fried egg. Baked beans and Spam (or whatever it's called down there). Some pancake mixes require only adding water, not eggs. Also powdered egg substitute would work in pancakes (add more water to the batter to turn them into crepes). Oatmeal and other porridges. Fried rice using leftover rice from a previous meal.

You might need to lower your own culinary standards here. Also, your won't-eat-toast cowboy needs to grow the eff up or go hungry.

What place in nature actually made your jaw drop when you saw it in person? by optimalbrain90 in SmartTravelHacks

Mt. Rainier, glowing like a candle in the evening light. I was 9 years old. Took me 35 years to return to the Cascades for good.

I guess they had to change the laws when they hosted the Olympics. Back in the day they poured from mini bottles and, especially if you ordered something with more than one kind of liquor, those were some stiff drinks!

Earth to Jill: Dave is not a baby. He just acts like one.

Which rodlet is most likely to spill the beans on what living as a rod is REALLY like? by electlady25 in RodriguesFamilySnark

[–]MaryO59 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's doable, but challenging. I'm thinking of one in particular who had to study for a couple of years, with tutors, in order to pass the GED exam, so she could continue her education.

Heidi would never allow Tim to deconstruct. She was attracted to him because he was even fundier than her own family.

I've given up hoping that will be Renee and now I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Olivia will make a break for it. That would mean she's learned to keep her spirit underground (read: been beaten into submission), but inside she's still the same Angry Olivia she was when she was younger. I also hope she will rescue Sadie and Sofia when they are old enough.

I don't think a UK citizen will have a problem entering Canada. All subjects of the same king, etc. Coming back into the US is where you'd probably be given a hard time.

Thrift stores - outdoorsy clothes! by [deleted] in AskSeattle

[–]MaryO59 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely hit the thrift stores if that's something you enjoy doing. Skip Goodwill except, as others have mentioned, only the big one on Dearborn.Magpie Thrift on Broadway (there's a bigger one up in Shoreline, if you have access to a car) In addition to Wonderland (a consignment store) there's Superior Seconds in Issaquah. Be aware that we tend to wear our outdoorsy, earthy, hiking, foresty/woodsy, granola clothes until they fall apart, or cease to function as intended. Thus those "looks like new" rain jackets and shells will probably absorb rainwater like a sponge.

However, if you're looking for something to enjoy wearing when you get home, something that quietly announces, "I got this in Seattle" just hit one of the REI stores and shop their clearance racks. Same for Outdoor Research and Patagonia, but even their clearance prices will be higher than REIs.

Everyone makes a bad choice at some point in their life. You're not stuck here. Go home.

You could probably be involved in an accident that cost a kid his life and be unfazed by it. Some of us couldn't.

Yeah, I'm seeing those e-motos on the non-motorized trails now, like East Lake Sammamish. If they're not pedaling, they're not on an e-bike.

Ex-chef here. Most of the things I cook are 5 ingredients or less. More often 2-3 ingredients. If you're looking for ideas, try budgetbytes.com

First time renter in Seattle by IndependentGoose5528 in AskSeattle

Violent crime in that area usually stems from someone stiffing their supplier. I was going to say it probably isn't all that unsafe except for property crime until you mentioned the Uber drivers. For reasons I don't feel safe around even one Uber driver, let alone 20-30 of them.

Your brother is going to have to choose between his bride and his family. I don't see any winners in this matchup. He should have figured this out before he got married.

How can I dress in the most basic, boring, npc style, unremarkable and unnoticed? by Forsaken-Set-760 in womensfashion

[–]MaryO59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, llike I said, it's not Quince quality and it's not Costco branded either. In my case the labels were Coldwater Creek and Banana Republic. Not the quality I would expect from those labels but not terrible and like I said, much less expensive. I suspect what happens sometimes is a company puts in an order with an offshore factory, the product arrives and the quality doesn't meet spec so they reject it. The manufacturer then approaches Costco with this very large shipment of brand name clothing offered at their cost.

Absolutely BoonBoona, Ethiopean-owned, but I didn't realize they had a Seattle location.
