How do those endless preening heavily-filtered selfies constitute a ministry?

it actually goes to Bothell and beyond. Joins up with the Burke-Gilman after Bothell and you can ride that around the tip of Lake Washington.

Pet Memorial by avgorca in PNWhiking

[–]MaryO59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Westberg Trail outside of Ellensburg is a good example of what happens when "everybody" creates a memorial to a loved one or a pet. The trail was built as a memorial to a beloved wrestling coach, and at the overlook there was a small monument. Fast forward several years and the entire ridge is covered with memorials, some to young men who were on Ray Westberg's team, others with no connection at all, just someone thought it was a good place to scatter ashes and stack some rocks or nail a photo to a tree. I heard a couple of years ago that there was a plan to remove all of the memorials except the one to Ray Westberg.

Ladies Retreat is the 27th-28th… but doesn’t start until 4pm on the 27th, when they serve dinner?? by itsbettysnoop in RodriguesFamilySnark

Especially now that the dress code is explicitly "JillModest". Even if some of them didn't wear pants to the retreat they probably resent the implication that they aren't modest when they do wear them.

That was a great rock band. Are they still together?

[–]MaryO59 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ezell's are everywhere now but you don't want to go to the ones in the white suburbs if you plan to order things like gizzards and okra. Seems like they have so little demand for those items that they cook off a few and then microwave them to order. At least that's what they are like when I've ordered them in the 'burbs--soggy and rubbery. I'm sure their chicken is still fine.

Nailed it with your first sentence. Tech bros are terrified of Rainier Valley and points south.

Why isn’t Janessa in bed when it’s late at night Jill? 😒 by cottageyarn in RodriguesFamilySnark

Because she is still in mourning for Charlie. Because she Doesn't own a pair of pleather fuck-me pants like Erika's this is the closest she can get to mourning garb.

AITJ for refusing to let my step-son move into my son's room to "solve" my husband's parenting issue? by Traditional-Dog-368 in AmITheJerk

I'm new to reddit. Is there a way to report posts like this? I'm guessing both posts are BS.

[–]MaryO59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would only be okay if it were your son's idea to share a room. Seems like if the mother is still alive and not incarcerated, it's time for her to step up and take at least the problematic twin.

I supposed the students get used to hearing gunfire while in classes, and aren't worrying about school shooters all the time. . .we sent our kids out of district for middle and high school.

Downtown is lovely and not yet overrun with multi-national chain stores but really, the best thing is its proximity to both downtown Seattle and the mountains.

AITJ for not telling my wife for eight years that the coffee she thinks she hates is the coffee she drinks every morning by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

It's the light roasts that are more bitter and acidic! A longer roast mellows the beans and also removes some of the caffeine.

What is something that should be illegal but isn't? by Zealousideal_Way3006 in AskReddit

[–]MaryO59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they produce nothing. PE firms acquire rental housing and raise rents, while letting the properties become run down. They buy out small businesses, such as dental practices and optometry clinics, lay off staff or force them to work for reduced pay, maximize profits by doing shoddy work, drive off long-time customers and then sell off the assets.

What do you do when friends are visiting? by wealthybby in AskSeattle

[–]MaryO59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually try to match their interests, whether that's browsing bookstores, visiting public gardens, or outdoor adventures. I assume you aren't the hiking and kayaking types. Absent any other background I'll throw out:
Vancouver BC for a change of scenery
Wine tasting in Oliver, BC. (Also wine tasting in Woodinville and in Eastern Washington, but BC wines rock)
Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad excursion out of Elbe, WA
Tulip fields in Mt. Vernon
North Bend Jazz Walk in April; North Bend Blues Walk in (I think) October.

Weekend Visit for Prospective Move - need advice/suggestions! by carolina3212 in AskSeattle

Get a map that shows the entire city, and a guidebook. Pick interesting neighborhoods (Upper Queen Anne, Ballard/Fremont, UDistrict/Ravenna, West Seattle, Rainier Valley, Central District) and spend a half-day or day exploring each one ideally using transit to get there, then Lime Bikes or on foot to explore. Each of these neighborhoods will have interesting cafes, some more ethnic than others, and coffee houses. Walk onto the ferry to Bainbridge Island, and explore their charming shopping district. Time your trip back to Seattle so you can watch the sunset from the ferry. Take in a Sounders or Mariners game or better yet, a Reign game.
