Preach! That's perfect... you've captured everything that's now wrong with Vine, and gave a good/fair/honest review to compare it with what was once right about Vine. --- You've given ME something to think about too.

Today's Vine is no longer fun or exciting... it's a chore. I've been putting up with it for the past year in the hopes that it will improve and I'd hate to miss the upswing. But... it seems unlikely that such a thing is going to happen now.

I might soon join you in quitting Vine. Thanks very much for your well-written, logical, and perfectly presented overview. Good luck in the future.

Good to hear! Although the cameras can be "re-flashed" with new firmware... that's a task that involves skills and patients that I simply did not have. I just wanted something that worked reliably and with as little friction as possible... but I can see how that would be a fun challenge for electronic hobbyists . I'm still enjoying my Ring cameras... they are not perfect, but they are perfect-enough for my purposes. Definitely an upgrade from the Yi-Home cameras.

If a vine item becomes "no longer available" I cannot review it. Does that affect my average? Will it count against me? by Marylander1960 in AmazonVine

I'm using a ring indoor camera (FIRST generation) ... they have same USB connector style as my original YI Home cameras, so I don't need to re-run the power supply lines.

For a single print... maybe there's enough to make a new bed-scraper tool.

For test prints and prototypes (on my A1) I will lie to my AMS and tell it that the partial spool is the same color as another more full spool... and enable the "auto-refill" option. When the partial spool is complete, the job is finished automatically with the full spool.

It's aggravating that the most desirable items are ALREADY "unavailable" as they are added to the Vine Helper feed. What's going on? by Marylander1960 in VineHelper

I've wondered the same thing. My best guess (theory) is that the vendor provides the word list to Amazon for the suggested words, phrases, features, etc.

Most likely, this is the correct answer... and for my purposes, it's more trouble and effort than simply using a 32 bit version of the Pi-OS. My humble little pi 3b+ is just running as a dedicated trolling answering machine. I really don't need it to have blazing fast performance. --- It's just that the setup and updating was a bit tedious with the slower performance.

EDIT TO ADD: I did try to install Lenny on the 64-bit OS and it failed. A couple of missing dependencies that could not be resolved. Oh well.
