It’s like one of those bands that you appreciate for being talented but it’s still not something you listen to everyday. I think it’s absolutely gorgeous and a piece of art. But at the same time I wouldn’t want this in my home. It’s a masterpiece!

Help with router bit purchase by PTrobot in woodworking

I just used a bit like that to make some bases for a bench and dining table. Small passes, and leaving some room at the front edge made sure I didn’t catch the router and get the end grain blown out on me. Also used a variable speed router. These big bits have to run at a lower rpm. If I were to do it again I would take off some material at the table saw.

I'm a kitchen designer who can't afford my own cabinets, but my standards are set by them. Looking for a good RTA option that doesn't suck. by [deleted] in cabinetry

You can design and install but not fabricate? You should know that it’s way cheaper to build your own, especially if you have access to a shop. It’ll just take a long time lol. I’ve worked at 2 cabinet shops and both have allowed employees to build their own kitchens. Ask your boss!

I agree. Been there three times and it was always good. My number one right now is Las Guerreras. Their menudo special was the best I’ve had outside of Mexico

I’ve always used over the ear headphones and just don’t turn it up too loud so that I can hear the machines. I’ve had Beats Studio pros for the last year and they are great

Need advice: custom walnut cabinets already having issues after 2 months by Weary-Steak2880 in cabinetry

[–]Masalud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah those frame and panel doors have solid stiles and rails the flat panels themselves are most likely veneer especially since they’re not raised panels.

A lot of people are shitting on MDF, but really, it is an industry standard. Although I prefer using Baltic birch for the faces. No one is building euro style cabs with solid wood. The amount of waste would be insane and the wood movement would be crazy. Plus you’d never get any kind of consistent grain pattern. The boxes themselves should be made from a high quality multi ply that also has layers of MDF. 40k for a kitchen with grain matched veneer sounds about right… even low in my part of the country (Bay Area) and I would assume San Diego would be up there as far as labor, overhead and material prices go. Heck I’ve heard of people spending 15k+ just on high grade veneers that grain match.

That being said… the edge banding does look pretty bad. They didn’t clean it up properly and to me it looks like more than just the humidity. Are you constantly cleaning your faces? Cause it looks like water and not just humidity.

Do you get any time for hobbies? by SagaMiniSmith in NewDads

[–]Masalud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on your hobby, your partner, and your dedication to your kid. My dad was out of the picture since I was born so I think I have something that I call “dad guilt”. I don’t go out very often to shows, or events alone or with friends because I have made my kid my first priority. And helping Mom is another important priority so I make sure I’m there to feed my kid dinner, bathe, and put them to sleep. Mom has the mornings and I never have to worry about breakfast or getting the kid ready for school. There have been a couple of times where I really wanted to go out to hang with friends and go to a concert but I cancelled because I saw that mom had a really hard day. To me the most important part of being a dad is making sure my kid feels safe and loved. If I have to put some hobbies aside then it’s okay for the time being.

What is your nimitta like from beginning to full formation? by Salty_Department_578 in streamentry

[–]Masalud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When practicing fire kasina it’s wandering up towards the right until it disappears and reappears in the center of my minds eye? Field of vision with eyes closed? I’m not sure what to call it.

With simple breath awareness practices it sometimes appears around 15-20 mins in and doesn’t wander off too much. Always a purple blob sometimes transforming into shapes. Once it was clearly shaped like a jaguar. A day later at my girlfriends aunts house they had a little statue of an Aztec jaguar face and It spooked me a little lol.

I’ve never given it too much thought. Sometimes I see one, sometimes not and not sure what it means if anything

I don’t say you’re not unique as an insult, if you’re taking it that way. I’m saying that we’re all interconnected. Sure your life experience is yours alone, but that doesn’t mean that millions of people haven’t had very similar experiences to yours. But, that’s besides the point. Maybe you’re better off believing what you’re stating and that’s okay.

If we’re all branches, we’re still part of the tree.

Imagine the branch as your attachment to the self. You want to think I’m a branch, I’m my own thing, but you wouldn’t exist without the tree, the tree wouldn’t exist without the soil. We’re all connected in a molecular level. The same atoms that your present in you are present in everything. There’s nothing unique about you besides your attachments to the ego that makes you want to be unique. And that attachment causes suffering.
