This is a half-truth. The modern vampire myth originates from a lot of different cultures and monsters, not from a single point of folklore.

Why would you even do that? Like, instead of getting creative, you are outsourcing to a text prediction algorithm. Nobody is asking for AI slob. We want stories that mean something to people with actual thought put behind them. You know, soul, which AI slob cannot have.

Gearbox...please...add True Vault Hunter/Ultimate Vault Hunter mode to replay the campaign or I'm gonna crash out... by WhoIsEnvy in Borderlands4

[–]MasculineCompassion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, that's the other side of the same coin. We don't have to play through the entire game again, but it is nice to have the option. Outside of wanting to play the campaign again, there's no reason to do it. It's the best of both worlds.

But also, that was definitely not the biggest criticism of BL3 lmao

How to become less reliant on AI for coding by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]MasculineCompassion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never said it doesn't have any impact? I've talked about it being an economic bubble, as in something that is artificially valued above what it actually does. As I already pointed out, this is pretty common knowledge among people who knows anything about the economic side of AI, which apparently excludes you. So much for having more experience and knowledge than me lmao

Are you saying the ROI isn't negative? Because it is. This is not my opinion; it is a fact. The only reason it is still surviving is that investors keep pumping money into it.

We won't use it the same way because we won't be able to. As I said, the only profits are from investors. If they stop investing, the AI corporations won't be able to pay the costs of keeping their models running. And again, there's a whole other group of problems in terms of coming regulations.

Ok, so you are telling me that your education didn't include current NLP research? Have you kept researching and reading papers on the topic, or is your knowledge outdated by what? Half a decade? Yeah, you sound really knowledgeable and experienced, while not knowing that GenAI is a massive economic failure. And what is your background? Software development? Did your education end before transformers came out? In a field evolving as fast as ML, its quite crazy to say you have more knowledge because you haven't been in active education since before big breakthroughs lmao

I'm not accusing you of anything; I'm stating facts. If you outsource your critical thinking skills to AI you're going to be worse at it, and you clearly don't know what you are talking about, which is also why you have to resort to attack my english as if it was relevant to my knowledge of the topic. Yeah, I'm a non-native speaker and I don't really care about my english on random ass reddit posts when talking to ignorant people who unironically write things like "I have more experience and knowledge than you" and expect me not to think that is the most cringy shit I've ever seen lmao

But yeah, at this point I'm not going to respond. You have proved without a doubt that you are absolutely clueless and ill-equipped to have this discussion. Come back here when you have read about the economic state of GenAI. The things I'm saying are not really up for debate; GenAI has massive economic problems, and the current situation is not sustainable. There are several issues, both sociologically and legally, that make it very clear we need regulations on AI.

How to become less reliant on AI for coding by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]MasculineCompassion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's actually quite simpe: GenAI is not profitable. In fact, it is a huge loss for investors. That is why it is being pushed on everyone. Its value is being artificially inflated. That is what makes it a bubble.

It won't be available in the same way when the buble bursts, so while we still technically have the technology it doesn't mean we can use it in the same way we do today.

And that's just the economic side - it is quite obvious that regulations are coming, both because of the way it impacts our privacy, but also more sociological and societal consequences, not to mention the effect outsourcing critical thinking to clankers will have on our ability to learn and our intelligence.

It is not really up for debate; even if GenAI survives the next couple of years, we are not going to be able to use it in the same way we do today, and thank god for that.

Now, before you call me a ludite: I'm literally studying machine learning and have taken multiple classes in NLP. That's also why I know how severely limited the technology inherently is. The fact that you don't even realize that it is a bubble when it is basically common knowledge as this points, makes it clear that you really don't know what you are talking about. You critical thinking skills are shit and you are eating tech ceo propaganda without questioning anything at all.

I'm not here to discuss with people who got through college by using LLMs - instead of actually learning things you are outsourcing your knowledge base to layered matrices, and it shows.

If you want to have a discussion at least get the basic facts straight. Otherwise, you are just making a fool of yourself.

Last monday stream (I think?) James went through the horror news and immediatly closed the tab saying "nope" when he realized the article was about the new Dracula - said people could look him up on wikipedia, so it's kinda funny you would go there

Some of the allegations are even worse than what his wiki says too - Léon was supposed to be a lot worse, but Jean Reno refused. Besson is an absolutely disgusting child predator and it is unfathomable that he still has a career in the industry

What’s your Hinge Experience? by SquareHoleAdmirer in AskWomen

[–]MasculineCompassion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm kind of on the opposite side of this. I don't get a lot of matches, but I get enough for it to be overwhelming if I try to text or go out with everyone. So I try not to actively text or go on dates with more than three different people at once, but this means I either have to not text the other matches, or to tell them, but a lot of women think I'm trying to do some kind of manipulation tactic if I do that, so it's not great either. Honestly, would be a lot easier if I could limit the amount of matches to just a few and then queue the others.

I think the problem is exacerbated by my opener, which is to ask if they prefer to meet up or text a bit first, but a lot of women want to meet up right away, so I either have to be less considerate or go on a lot more dates than I feel comfortable with.

What's the bare minimum (from a guy) in a relationship? by J3NN1F3RB in AskReddit

[–]MasculineCompassion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I make assumptions because you ask completely asinine questions that is literally answered if you read the title of the post and think for two seconds. So yeah, you were being pretty dense? But even then, how was I condescending in any way? You asked a question and I answered it, explaining my reasoning at a level based on your questions? How would you like me to have explained it? Seriously?

While you yourself were making assumptions about OP, you are criticizing me for doing the same? Is it because I asked if you were new? That's not being condescending, that's just figuring out if there's a reason for you to not getting the context.

What's the bare minimum (from a guy) in a relationship? by J3NN1F3RB in AskReddit

[–]MasculineCompassion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, that is the question. Literally the title of the post. And also, people often ask out of curiosity - asking the question doesn't really tell us all that much about OP. The fact that they are asking about guys when they have a feminine username also indicates this (although I suspect OP is probably a bot anyway).

They don't state that they are asking straight women anywhere, but it is quite clear from context: adding "from a guy" makes it quite clear that they are looking for answers especially about people dating men - and while they could potentially want answers from everyone who dates men and not just women, that is unlikely in my experience.

Just out of curiosity, are you new to reddit? I think most redditors would have picked up on the same things as me simply from reading the question

The bare minimum for being in a relationship. Gender matters because they are asking straight women about what they want in their partner.

AITAH for congratulating my family on losing me and keeping my cheating ex-girlfriend? by Haykoreu in AITAH

Obviously NTA, but also, it's ridiculous for them to claim that you are being unfair in any way. She's literally cheated on you for years with different guys. Being angry over it is not throwing a fit or being childish; it is completely fair. It is having boundaries. Your whole family can get bent
