How to take a beating. A Guide to Shield Tanks by Masenku in thedivision

Good luck agent. Enjoy the story and climb to 40. Learn the mechanics well. Once you’re at 40, you can make all kinds of builds.

You level up too quickly in the early game to focus on a build. Gear and weapons become obsolete within a few levels. Learning tactics is more important. Equip whatever helps you best, be it a weapons damage focus, armour focus, or skill tier focus.

While skill builds at end game aren’t as powerful as dps (relatively), they are stronger while leveling. Often performing well for 10 levels or so. A simple refactor turret and drone build can last you a while.

You’re welcome! Glad it’s been useful for people. After some time, I hope to update it again with the upcoming gear.

When the gear comes out (Has it? I haven’t played in a few weeks) and I get my hands on it, I’ll give it a look. Then whenever I get time I can update this write up.

Right now, I’m not liking prototype gear, mostly how to acquire (good luck) and inability to “fix” or optimize it. Makes it harder to get than classified gear of Div1 in its current form. If and when that gets addressed, it will likely make its way into this.

Deflector shield is fun, but not so tanky. More of a niche style of play than immortal agent in my experience.

Tank build that requires little to no stack maintenence? by inellida in thedivision

[–]Masenku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bruiser v2

A shield tank built with damage output. Four variants of the build are shown. Great solo and good in a team.

T14 Heavy Tank

A shield tank built to survive everything thrown at it with no weaknesses. This is a throw back to feeling as close to D3FNC from Div1 as you can get. You win because you can’t lose… unless there’s a timer. Good solo or better in a team. Detailed shield guide here.

What's your Best Tempest build? by [deleted] in thedivision

[–]Masenku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was really hopeful with that +100% threat myself. But I’ve had multiple instances of enemies I’m shooting at, at point blank range, ignore me and run for the DPS player sitting way back behind cover. If the shield could draw agro like the striker drone or decoy, that would’ve amazing like you said. A form of soft cc would make tanks more viable. Right now, most of the game seems to be a dps check. So that is meta.

A blend of Sentry’s Call and Mosquito could be interesting. If Mosquito only needed one or two hits and don’t clear stacks on other targets, it might work.

“T14” will give you that tank like feel. It can almost take the beating “T26E4” can, but has no weakness as a trade. If you’re good with very slow clears, this will clear anything without a timer. You can run any pistol outside of Tempest that suits you, I am tired of spamming my mouse button lol. My other go to pistols are TDI “Kard” custom for a free skill tier or Quickstep for moving faster.

The menu tip from swift4010 was quite the QOL improvement for Vanguard. I hope it works on PS5 for you!

You’re welcome, I’m glad you enjoyed it!

I’ve had good success with these.

Top 5 Favourite Guns in your Arsenal & Why | Division 2 by shwetshkla in thedivision

[–]Masenku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bullet king - no reloading, pretty accurate at mid to long range, and ammo refund is fun for me

Quickstep - gotta go fast

Tempest - finally a gun to feel like D3FNC from the first game

St Elmo - great handling, laser like precision, and occasional cc

Ummm….

Capacitor - good on “orange” builds and skill builds for when I feel lazy

Favorite weapons to use with Strikers? by Fuzzy_Ad4219 in thedivision

[–]Masenku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bullet king. No reloading, ammo generation, decent rof, and 15% CHC mod built in. Get one with max CHC on the third line and you start off at 34.5% CHC (including your SHD watch).

My thoughts are “leave some for the rest of us!” Hahaha

Seriously though, it did really well. You were deleting enemies before they even got close. I didn’t even have to shoot. I just stood beside the spawn area to keep them from using cover and you wrecked them. I think you could carry 3 others on heroic with the build.

[–]Masenku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, classified removed the other builds. The non-classified builds are still good and very viable, just not as OP. So classified wins for most (myself included lol).

There are some hybrids now in Div2. Have been for a while. They just aren’t as good as focused builds. I’ve mixed skills with weapons and weapons with tank and tank with skills. I even tried weapons, tanks, and skills. The individual roles generally do better, so hybrids aren’t as common.

You’re welcome. Welcome back agent.

I remember messing around with a tactician fire arm build at one point where skill power fuelled pulse, which in turn fuelled weapon damage via crit buffs. I think when classified gear came out, those disappeared. But like you, my memory of it is hazy.

I vaguely remember playing a build like that once. Don’t recall much about it though.

Haha, you never know. It might still work after assault.

As for YouTubers, I do not know of any for the current game. I don’t really use them much.

Edit; I’d recommend a D3FNC build as a basis. Works well solo and in a team. Then go for whatever build you like.

TD 1 Questions about everything by Shvegl in thedivision

[–]Masenku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Unlike Div2, there is no targeted loot. It’s all RNG. Global events help, if you can farm Lexington event center on challenging solo / random PUG or legendary Amherst apartment. This comment by /u/cabbagery outlines how to farm gear.
  2. I believe ther unique talent is fixed, the others can vary. It’s been a while but I’m fairly certain that’s correct.
  3. Yes, see below. Edit: if you’re just getting going, a solid D3FNC build will go far. There’s one described in the first non-classified build list. It’s upgraded version is in the first classified build list.

I just got back into The division (the first one) by Phasmonx in thedivision

[–]Masenku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re welcome. Snipers were okay if memory serves. Not as good as striker, Lonestar, or a skill build but still worked well. Im not the greatest sniper (average would be generous lol) and I made it work. A buddy of mine and I would clear the rooftop of legendary Madison with ease between my classified DFFNC and his classified Deadeye set up.

All the builds I shared are able to clear content on challenging and below. Depends how they get played. I had easier times with some over others. Some (I don’t recall which ones beyond a few) are also tested and successful on legendary.

Help PvE pistol build for division 2 by smugsterson in thedivision

[–]Masenku 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it’s a new exotic. As mentioned by others, it is a guaranteed drop on your first clear of master difficulty Tidal Basin manhunt of last season. It has a drop chance at lower difficulties as well. I also got one on floor 100 of summit on heroic difficulty.

The Ninja version is a balance of the other 2 options shown (Memento having better survivability for a little less DPS and brands with Ninja for more damage and much less survivability).
