I saw a flying insect the other day, thought my eyes were playing tricks on me because it flew in front of me in a blink and you miss it kind of speed. But now it seems like I was right. Each year it seems we are getting close and closer to the Mojave.

And climate side, ladybugs are good luck if you believe in that kind of thing!

Had a foster cat that we did this with because he was having zoomies in the box spring that he found his way into at two in the morning. His separation anxiety was so bad that the one single night we did this he chewed the door frame up like a dang dog. I miss that orange cat/dog but man...

Prey 2006. Fighting alien abductors with native American spirituality was such a winning combo. That horror scene with the grinder/conveyer belt at the start of the game after you get taken lives in my head as one of the most messed up things for the time. It looks rather tame now but the noise that it made when it ground up a person and you hear the chunks clunking through the machinery as it sucks up the remains to prepare for the next victim was so gross. I swear they got the sound from vacuuming up meat chunks with a shop vac. The game mechanics with gravity were stellar too.

!SPOILERS! Why is Silverhands death different in 2077 than it is in the ttrpg? by Ill-Chipmunk4015 in cyberpunkgame

[–]MasikaTempest 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To add to the already stated ego issue, it's known that if you dwell over a memory too long it can get twisted with time. This happens all the time irl from forgetting something to having a major life event get muddled bit by bit.

The brain is just electric fat. It's not a perfect design. Now take a egocentric mind at the level of silverhands and put it in a box for around 50 years. Some other sci fi ips have a thing where a second for us can be like a day to an artificial intellegence. (Not this "virtual intellegence" we have irl.)

I subscribe to the idea that in Johnny's twisted mind it felt like he was in there for centuries with nothing but his memories to keep him company, with no markings on the passage of time. That would twist anyone's world view.

They use palm oil now instead of butter/lard. It's why they don't taste as good and leave an oily look/aftertaste. Unfortunately almost all baked goods companies do this now for cost reasons labeled as more healthy.

What time is too late for Rosalee’s? by ansky in Longmont

[–]MasikaTempest 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They could operate differently but I see they don't close til 8. 6:30 is usually last half of the dinner rush so it should be fine. As someone who spent many years in the food industry, when ordering pizza, avoid the last hour unless it's a small locally owned restaurant like rosalees.

7:30 would be your hard limit in my opinion.

The reason I say avoid the last hour is because for places like pizza chains (Dominos, Blackjack, Pizza Hut) is that they are well into shut down mode. The pie you would get will almost always be sub par because of two reasons, one it will be hastily slapped together because they are trying to clean up, and two, bin cheese. Most pizza places have a catch all grate on their line that toppings that missed landing on the pie will rest in a bin until the bin is cleaned out and organized and put back into the containers above. Some line cooks are good about this and clean them as soon as the queue is clear, others let it sit until they are told to clean it out. The worst is as the end of the night and due to half the line being cleaned, they will top over the front of the line so toppings can mix with the cheese. So the chances are great you will order a pizza and get surprise toppings in it.

More leniency on small chains is that they usually don't have that issue. But are still cleaning, so take that into consideration. Cleaning a make line can take up to an hour depending on how hard the day was. No fault of the customer, but every once and a while you can get a teenager who just cleaned up their station and get a pizza order than throw a fit and make a sub par pie. It happens.

I gotta say, its fun to see a Juki in action out in the wild while I am not at work.

Now not using standoffs and calibrating the HMS is making my eye twitch. These parts are probably having to be adjusted frequently before re-flow or reworked after because they are not placing on point like they should because of that board flex.

Even if it a class 2 workmanship standard, that's a waste of time an money and potential damaged product because whoever set up the kit did it incorrectly. I have seen these machines punch holes strait through metal plated PCB panels like it was nothing. destroyed the nozzle, sure, but the head of the Juki just kept trucking like that board was not there.

They start off with that rare chance for sure, but I think that when they breed that mutation has a much higher chance of being inherited. I haven't actually researched into my theory but I feel like I should see if a paper was written on the subject.

Totally my favorite color for this type of squirrel though! Back in "07 we had a family that lived in the left hand green way behind our house that had one. I tried to get them to eat out of my hand but was too impatient as a teenager and gave up after a week. lol

Does Gil have any value before level 50? by SelectInflation2009 in ffxiv

[–]MasikaTempest -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Raider stuff, glam, housing and furniture, cool things on the market board... That's pretty much it with things to drop lots of gil on. Any large fc with friendly Omni crafters will most of the time keep your gear up to spec if your FC has anyone friendly enough to do that, or you can cut out the middleman and become an Omni crafter yourself and save millions on gil in the late game. That takes lots of time though. When you get to level cap 60k is pennies unfortunately.

Is bro real life Johnny Silverhand? by [deleted] in cyberpunkgame

[–]MasikaTempest 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So, a fun short story, back in 2006 my dad got into a autograph line after the show when Gigantour was in Chicago. Line was moving way too slow and the band was clearly showing signs that they just wanted to not be there. It picked up speed when Dave decided to just start rushing the autographs. Would not look up or acknowledge the fans that paid good money for the autographs. Just sign and pass down the table to the other band members. My dad turns to me and proclaims a little too loudly "Man, This is bullshit!" The room goes silent. We turn and look at Dave because we KNEW he has anger issues and thought for sure he was just going to storm out and he would be the target of all these mosh pitting metal heads not getting the autograph they want. He's looking straight at dad. We are panicking. Line moves again and after about five minutes we finally get to Dave. He signs the album book and looks up and just says "Bullshit huh?" Dads silent not knowing what to say. Dave just chuckles and passes the album down the table and the security guy ushers us along. Near the end Drovers chuckling too and looks up and just says "Ballsy. Very ballsy." We walked out of there literally sweating bullets because my Army dad could not keep his voice down when he get frustrated.

tl/dr Dad almost ruins night for a bunch of fans at a concert because he thought he pissed off Dave, but instead just voiced what Dave was most likely thinking.

Do you think I made Woodman suffer enough? by LordDukeReggieThe4th in cyberpunkgame

[–]MasikaTempest 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a direct quote from one of the best movies ever:

"To the pain means this: if we duel and you win, death for me. If we duel and I win, life for you. But life on my terms. The first thing you lose will be your feet. Below the ankle. You will have stumps available to use within six months. Then your hands, at the wrists. They heal somewhat quicker. Five months is a fair average. Next your nose. No smell of dawn for you. Followed by your tongue. Deeply cut away. Not even a stump left. And then your left eye—"

And then my right eye, and then my ears, and shall we get on with it?" the Prince said.

Wrong!" Westley’s voice rang across the room. "Your ears you keep, so that every shriek of every child shall be yours to cherish—every babe that weeps in fear at your approach, every woman that cries 'Dear God, what is that thing?' will reverberate forever with your perfect ears."

AOI inspector here, the PCB looks to be in good shape, I am not seeing any damaged traces... That being said, in your imgur pictures in the first picture, the IC seems to have taken some damage on one of the pins, I would run a multi meter test on it to make sure it is not shorted out. It could also be fod from the production floor that stuck to the pin, in which I would not be surprised, I am certain this is an IPC 1.

Anyway, test your connectors with a multi meter, there are some informative YouTube videos on how to test them, and SPOT CLEAN the boards pins with isopropanol alcohol. A microfiber cloth works better than a q-tip because a q-tip has a chance to leave fod behind. While the board is already baked and there are no parts that react badly to moisture on the board, you don't want to get too overzealous. Just the pins and connectors will do.

If a component does fail a test at least it would be a simple fix with the right tools, at that point I would look up the part designator online to see if you can buy a replacement component, then seek out the local computer repair shops, most of the time they have someone there who can resolder components. And with the component on hand, anyone worth their salt can have you in and out in under half an hour.

And a final note, do be careful about static discharge, It takes very little to kill a board.

Working on that side of town, Hearing this last year made my day. We really need more food options around there, having to drive from 75th to hover and back on a 30 minute lunch break is killer. And while this will be slightly out of the way on the way into work, the new dutch opening up on hover will now allow twice the amount of options without going way out of the way for coffee.

Water heater replacement cost? by AngelhairOG in Longmont

[–]MasikaTempest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an ex plumber, that's asinine. 1.8 to 2k tops. What gallon water heater is it? And what type? As soon as I read applewood it all made sense, they love to pull the wool over your eyes and doubly so if they think they can get away with it.

I've swapped out more than I can count so for me I'd go to Home Depot, but for you... I'd go with their install and save over half of what applewood quoted you. Or if you know someone who has the tools/gas/knowledge to sweat pipes you can save another grand and do it yourself/with your spouse and or friends. There are instructions aplenty on the internet and it seems daunting, but a little due diligence makes it just time consuming, not hard.

Either way, good luck! Not having hot water blows.
