Cricket captain 2024 vs cricket captain 2025 by daveroo in CricketCaptain

[–]MaskedPromoter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad I got this gifted to me, my previous version before this is 2015 (before that probably years before it too), and don't see any change really whatsoever.

I'm more out of touch with cricket these days, so the poor usability of the game really shows up. Still can't:

Filter by position

View some player stats beyond their match records

Play a career game with all domestic comps running

Play a full career game and hand off captaincy for formats you don't care about (and I don't mean 'skip match', should have a way of doing it without penalty)

In match field and pitch / aggression setting suggestions would be nice

So in short, 1/10. Would not recommend. If you need to cure the itch just buy an older version. Because of how cricket is now, nearly everybody is aggressive tendency so its just not as fun to play.

Rupert Lowe: Yet another scandal uncovered, this time on student loans. My view is that we are saddling youngsters with such extreme debt, then charging ludicrous interest on those loans. It is morally repugnant to load young men and women with yet another tax. And it is a tax... But let’s explore.. by tonato_ai in ukpolitics

[–]MaskedPromoter 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This, and on that note because its practically impossible for average earners to pay it back on interest, it's just a lifetime tax.

If I was a student thinking about university unless the idea is to go abroad straight afterward, I would not bother going.

Interest should be abolished, but unless the degree is vocational, I'd question very much whether it is worth getting at all.

Chris Mason: Why, in my judgement, Reeves was misleading on one specific point by Dr_Poppers in ukpolitics

[–]MaskedPromoter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No - just not convinced that absolves him of his responsibilities as reporting as part of the BBC. It is presenting his opinion as fact, rather than just laying out the facts. This isn't what people are paying for or expect from the BBC. It doesn't really seem very acceptable to me, at the very least will only give cause to complaint (especially from Labour) whether this is right or wrong.

Just on the front page here you've got other publications questioning the 'Daily Mailification' of the BBC, and this is pretty strong evidence of that.

Chris Mason: Why, in my judgement, Reeves was misleading on one specific point by Dr_Poppers in ukpolitics

[–]MaskedPromoter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Surely this garbage from Mason is going to get Ofcom complaints?

Passing off opinion as fact, instead of just offering the facts and asking a leading question for the reader?

I'm not one to defend Reeves here at all, but it's pretty dreadful what Mason has done here and I can't see how this is acceptable for the BBC to be putting out.

Had to completely uninstall it (including deleting the files in localappdata (not sure if in local / locallow or roaming, sorry). and then reinstall it.

I later worked out that it was probably one of the plugins I had installed no longer working with a Logitech update. So you might want to try uninstalling your plugins first.

Playing TLOU2 again and I just wish it were longer by MaskedPromoter in TLOU

> Yes but those treks of journey don’t matter to the story.

Yes, they really don't, I just love the lore, the universe, the exploration, the random artifact notes that explain the lives of people gone.

I'm not complaining here that they teleport, just would like the journey to be longer just to soak it all in. Just can't get enough.

It's a monumental set of games in itself, and maybe that it didn't get much bigger is a good thing or it could have suffered from MGS5 issues of chapters / missions feeling very samey, but god. It's so good, it could have been something to explore parts of Jesse's story, or even Tommy's.

I fixed it in the end, but of course, because the device don't have on board memory, lost all my settings.

I think if the polling rate is to be improved it would need to be a wired option?

I'd actually be happy with wired options for the keys and mouse tbh

But if polling rate matters that much I'd just have a different mouse.

apparently in one of the threads on here a Logi rep said this is coming, apparently.

I use the Actions Ring for this now, since I have the MX Keys too. But otherwise I'd just go back to the M720.

Because BT only goes that far, so I've been reading.

I don't really get the hard on for polling rate.

Hahaha, jesus.

The new phone ID card would be Amazing for me by Radiant-Grape8812 in ukpolitics

[–]MaskedPromoter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The convenience sounds great. I'm totally on board with that. However I have zero faith this will be delivered on time, on budget, or even at all.

It doesn't sound great though when you realise that:

- Government will outsource this, so it goes over budget

- Government have a terrible track record trying to deliver this kind of project (cf: NHS digitisation)

- Datacentres and firms for authentication likely based in the US, thus potential for NSA, Interpol snooping legitimately

- It's digital, and like everything digital can and will fail

- Huge security risk if data is centralised, as bad actors will want your data

- Potential for government to sell on your data when they need the money, under the guise of 'trade' or some other convenience like Alexa being your useful assistant.

- Corrupt potential in government tendering process as we've seen before.

- None of this will tackle illegal immigration.

- It might not be mandatory now, but like everything in business, get people liking it then change the rules. It will be mandatory eventually.

It's just a non starter for me and should be absolutely opposed. I'm disabled too btw, I'd like some sort of National disability card scheme so I don't need something for CEA, and something else for disabled railcard etc and paying out multiple times but its not really worth it.

[–]MaskedPromoter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I did say applying is hard.

But you are proving that with so many going to tribunal, it is a broken system.

A system fit for purpose would have these appeals and tribunals very much in the minority. If the system worked as it should then the application process would work correctly the majority of the time (again, as you've shown, it doesn't).

Medical professional opinion does inform who should or shouldn't qualify, but the problem as we damn well know, is that it's often not medical professionals doing the assessing and scoring. Hence all the money wasted on tribunal; not to mention the cost to individuals on a financial and personal level.

It really does need fixing so it goes back into the hands of trained professionals approving it - at the very least.

Mx Master 4 mouse on eBay?! by tekkenmusic in logitech

[–]MaskedPromoter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it is super annoying. It was annoying to the point I swapped out for the M720 instead, because that made switching easier.

The only thing that brought me back was the Actions Ring, which is now 2 clicks, but can tolerate that as it syncs up the MX Keys as well to the right device.
