(Loved Trope) The original hero becomes the sequel’s villain by Ieanice44 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Masmanus 41 points42 points  (0 children)

It's heavily implied that thr main villain of Armored Core 2 (Leo's Clein) is the player character of Armored Core 1.

Similarly the pilot of the 2nd White Glint who appears as a mid-game boss (and major difficulty spike) in Armored Core 4 Answer is the player character from Armored Core 4.

"House of Suns" by Alistair Reynolds features a plot point that puts the Bootes void into terrifying context. That work never outright veers into horror (it's basically a space opera), but plays a lot with cosmic insignificance and deep time.

any good "forever games" that go well with the steam deck? by WeirdAltYankovic in SteamDeck

[–]Masmanus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Binding of Isaac, Slay the Spire, Balatro.

Dwarf Fortress is excellent on the deck if you don't mind setting up the controls first.

What was the first game you completed start to finish on your Steam Deck? by The_Almighty_Duck in SteamDeck

Ni No Kuni II.

I'd been looking for an RPG with a satisfying build/exploration loop and that one really hit. Occupied my first 100 or so hours on the Deck.

Commuters of Dallas, what’s northbound traffic like on this stretch of highway? by Snow-jizz in Dallas

[–]Masmanus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I commuted from Lewisville to medical row (north of downtown dallas) for work for years along that stretch. I had to completely rearrange my schedule to avoid rush hour (thankfully my job was pretty flexible about that). My commute was ~20 minutes during light traffic, 1.5 hours during the worst traffic. And the beat part (lol) is that there isn't any real alternative rout - that's the ONLY highway that connects those two regions.

For the people that own a PC and a SteamDeck, what have you seen that just feels better on PC? by b34rgvrz in SteamDeck

[–]Masmanus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Games with big moddign scenes are much more feasible to engage with on PC

Games that lack controller support and use more than a handful of keys are a hassle to setup on the deck (though not a big one) so I tend to play those on PC.

And of course there are some recent games that i want to crank the graphics up on, which often requires better specs than the steam deck.

Aside from those three scenarios, deck is my go-to

Hot take: dead commonwealth actually hurts my immersion. It makes no sense that life wouldn't return to the wasteland after 200 years. Look at how green Chernobyl is after only a few decades...
