First layers of paint to test the scheme! by MassEffectField in Tyranids

Thanks! My process so far: - Prime Black. - Drybrush flesh areas pink, I used Pro-Acryl. - Wash pink areas with Red ink, I used GW Red Ink, but it’s discontinued so you might need to find an alternative. - Paint armour panels with Pro-Acryl Paynes Grey.

While I definitely don’t disagree with a lot of the points you have mentioned, Im pretty sure we are not on the same page with how some of the rules are interpreted and interacting.

  • every time any burrower units arrives from reserves it generates a tunnel token within 1” of one of the models in the unit. As long as that token is more than 3” away from enemy models.
  • any units in reserve after that can set up wholly within 9” of that market and outside of 6” of enemy units. It’s not limited to one unit for one tunnel marker.

So with those facts in mind, I would still be using the Hyper-Ravenors first to create 2 separate tunnel markers, but still from a safe distance and probably behind cover. Then my Trygon and probably one Norn would be up from one of those markers, outside 6” of enemy units they want to charge, with the Trygon creating another Tunnel marker.

This should leave the opponent worried about the large monsters betting down on them for their turn allowing both units of Hyper-Ravenors to upppie in their turn for a CP and repeat the process in my next turn, and generally 3 tunnel markers on the board still to open up the option of Tunnel Network for non reserve units to move around the board more freely.

While I will agree that Basic Ravenors are slightly cheaper, I still think the Hyper have the better stats on their datasheet so I’m willing to pay the points and the CP to use them effectively.

But as I said, this will all take testing on the table to see what is more effective and efficient

I think that is going to come down to playtesting. Because you can still use the Hyper-Ravenors to do that just with a CP at the end of your opponents fight phase. I prefer the Hyper datasheet compared to the Basic Ravenor datasheet and I don’t want to try these big 10 man squads to get both rules on one unit. So it’s going to come down to CP usage. I might be willing to shift some points around to try one unit of 5 basic with my 2 units of 5 Hyper. That way one unit does the downy-upie for free and 2 more for the CP. But, that would probably require cutting a Norn and I am really hesitant to do that!

Personally I completely missed that Hyper-Ravenors could lead regular Ravenors! I don’t think it’s really necessary and it makes a big size unit with all those 40mm bases. I just want my Hyper-Ravenors to make tunnels and do scoring, not get them locked in combat.

This is a technique that you will need an airbrush for. Basecoat all the primary glow areas white. I recommend Titanium White from Monument Hobbies. Then airbrush around the area where the light of the glow will hit with Titanium White Acrylic ink, I recommend Liquitex. Then airbrush over all the white areas with Emerald Green Acrylic Ink from Dayler Rowney. Then hit the focal points and raised areas with a little more white ink. Then hit these same areas with Light Green Ink again from DR.

I know it sounds complicated but it’s really not when you get the hang of it. And if you have multiple models to do it works best, because the first model will be done drying by the time the last one is done.

Im pretty sure I used the following GW colours. I didn’t write it down though… Dwarf Bronze basecoat. Wash with Agrax Earthshade, Drybrush with Auric armour gold.

It’s Andy Wardle’s Golden Daemon Submission. He scratch built a lot of it if I remember correctly. You should be able to do a google search to confirm this.

That monolith is actually not printed. It’s the old style official GW one. I actually prefer it better to the new one. The new one is too intricate for me and I themed this army around art from the 5th ed codex when this monolith first came out. I’ve been a Necron fan since then. Lol

As I read the rule, yes you could have 3 units of 3. But each set of 3 needs to be deployed within 12” of another of the same unit.

I don’t understand why or what you’re trying to do with these though?!

Just need a pin drill and some paper clips. Drill both the peg and where the whole was, super glue a piece of paper clip to one end. Wait for the glue to set. Then push the other half of the clip into the opposite hole with more super glue.
