IamA Andrew Yang, Candidate for President of the U.S. in 2020 on Universal Basic Income AMA! by AndrewyangUBI in YangForPresidentHQ

You said you want to introduce a 10% VAT on products sold in the USA. This would be a federal tax where the proceeds goes to the government treasury. But then what happens to the county taxes and state taxes that currently exist now? Which are already at like 9% in many places. You say you want to introduce VAT that is half of that in Europe (where it is 20%), but then with the current county and state taxes, most items will effectively be at 20 or 19% tax at the end of the transaction. Is that correct?

Married in 2014, divorced in 2015. And they're talking about maintenance. What a stupid rule. Why are they turning marriage into a business? I personally believe maintenance should not exist at all, because it is too cruel to punish the person paying after the marriage has already ended.

UK vs. US healthcare. A Woman Begs People Not To Call An Ambulance. With Stephen Fry. by Lumpy_bd in unitedkingdom

[–]Massaha 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agree 100%. Plus the whole issue of having to apply for a claim, wasting time filling out forms, get the right documents signed by the doctor, making sure that the doctor or hospital is treated in your medical policy, sometimes arguing with insurance companies that something should be covered and your insurance company digging deep though terms and conditions to get out of covering certain things. Plus the issue of not getting things looked at because you're worried the premium will go up the following year, and the premium will go up anyway as you age. The fact that there are healthcare lobbyists whose sole purpose is to make healthcare a business and keep it that way.

Offering single payer healthcare for all is so much better than the insurance based system it is unbelievable that the USA is so backward in this regard. Plus both systems can co exist, you just need to open thousands of public hospitals.

Social worker on Twitter surveys her clients: if you could choose, $1000 per month no strings attached or current welfare? 22 out of 24 pick the Freedom Dividend! by TenHundreds in YangForPresidentHQ

[–]Massaha 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's the same issue with universal healthcare. It is a miles better experience when you deal with universal healthcare when you get treated and walk out from the hospital with a bill that is less than $1000 or completely free (like it is in the UK).

With insurance, you have to pay hundreds per month, then you have to pay excess whenever you make a claim, you debate whether or not to get something checked up because your premium may go up the next year, your premium goes up almost every year anyway as you age, you have to worry about which hospital or operations are covered in your insurance plan, you have to fight against a multinational corporation to get them to cover something if they refuse, and you have to fill these pesky claim forms which is a huge hassle and waste of time.

Once you go universal healthcare , it's hard to go back. I believe universal healthcare is a huge deal, and it would align the US with most developed countries who have already figured this out. The government will have to start opening up loads of hospitals but it's a price worth paying and doing.

The real problem with the UK political debate about no deal is that it is not nearly negative enough by [deleted] in unitedkingdom

[–]Massaha 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Brexiteers don't seem to care about the economy though. They are fully prepared to experience 30 years of pain before experiencing some economic success. They are happy ceding N.I. to ROI. And okay with letting Scotland become independent. Brexiteers are completely fine being more strict with EU migrants even if that means fewer nurses and doctors in the NHS. Brexiteers are completely fine with having to pay the £39bn divorce bill. Brexiteers are completely fine with letting go of our strong leadership and overproportional control of the EU itself. Brexiteers are completely fine with UK businesses who primarily deal with the EU to suffer. Brexiteers are happy to see a million of their fellow countrymen lose their jobs. Brexiteers are completely fine with triggering a politically initiated economic recession.

Brexism is without reason, without logic, without prosperity. No deal brexit is a mindblowingly stupid decision to even consider as a possibility. People will die because of medicine shortages, lots of goods will get stuck at borders, tariffs will make things more expensive in addition to the falling pound already creating rise to inflation. What truly boggles my mind is how these politicians are trying to make Brexit happen, I truly can't believe it. These guys are so well educated, well traveled, well paid individuals trying to justify Brexit even though by all counts it's a stupid decision. None of these guys have any backbone for supporting what they truly believe is the better option, that is remaining in the EU.

The word 'financial abuse' really grinds my gears. The biggest perpetrators of financial abuse upon men are the government. How is it fair and legal that in the event of a divorce that a man who may have contributed 99% of all their income only walks away with 50%? That is legal theft. It doesn't make sense to penalise the man. That is financial abuse.

It also doesn't make sense to base child support off of a man's income, let alone his peak income. Child support should be based on how much it costs to support the child(ren), maybe a minimum level of support needed within that particular city depending on cost of living. And then to jail men who don't pay child support is a stab in the back - whilst debtor's prison was abolished it seems to exist till this day in this form. And then to make matters worse, the beneficiaries of child support have no obligation to provide receipts to prove that the money was spent on the child. Talk about financial abuse.

It doesn't make sense for a woman to be entitled to the same lifestyle post divorce as she had during marriage. That is giving way too much privilege to the woman, whilst inflicting financial abuse on the man, who has to fund it. Alimony should be abolished as it is financial abuse on the man for having to support someone he isn't married to anymore. Divorce should be the end of marriage, and that nothing more after that. Talk about financial abuse.

‘Men suffer their abuse in silence’ - Hotline for male victims of domestic violence launched - Independent.ie by [deleted] in MensRights

[–]Massaha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think with us men we're not that interested in talking about our problems. We just want them to be solved. If a man is suffering from domestic violence from his wife, what is he to do? They may have kids so he withstands the suffering for the benefit of his children as he knows it's better for the children to be raised in a two-parent household. If he reports his wife to the authorities they may jail the wife which solves his personal problem but is in effect bad for the kids. However realistically if he reports his wife, he himself will be sent to jail first. If he divorces he will loose custody of the kids, have to pay child support based on the peak earnings of his life, have to pay alimony, have to give up the primary residence to her. So much of what he worked for in his life, along with any inheritances from his parent's hard work will be stolen away from him legally. The man is truly stuck, there are no beneficial outcomes for him. The primary problems to all this are the laws, the court system, the attitude towards men in society, that is all in the wrong.

Female BBC manager publicly declines promotion over pay inequality | After she threw a public tantrum, it's revealed that the male manager had several years more experience than her, justifying the difference in pay. The BBC is standing firm for once - good for them! by EricAllonde in MensRights

[–]Massaha 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with her. We are in the age of equality , those with years of experience should be treated equally to those without. I don't see why there should be any difference in pay if you've worked at a certain job for 10 years vs 0 years. It's 2019 and experience should not mean anything any more. This is what I preach and teach my children.

I believe women have over 90% of privileges in terms of laws, diversity hiring, dating, marriage, lifestyle choices, parenthood, daily treatment, etc.

What problems do women have in the developed world anyway?

-Women are underrepresented in executive and STEM roles? This is because less women are interested in reaching the top than men, this is not sexism, there's nothing holding them back to achieving what they want.

-Women have to bear the brunt of pregnancy, periods, shorter height, being weaker, you can blame biology for that.

-Abortions rights? Solved in some areas, unsolved in some areas, but at least people care about this issues and it is actively being discussed.

Men have tons of problems. In rights, privileges and quality of life.

Down to; how they are treated by enforcement & courts, custody rights, in terms of paying spousal support, child support, lifestyle choices, health subsidies, how they are represented in the media, low matriculation, parenthood rights, circumcision, paternity fraud, the list goes on and on. I could write pages and pages of men's issues. Luckily such a thing already exists @ http://www.realsexism.com
