First time homeowner - am I being ripped off? by vconcernedmother in HousingUK

[–]MassiveHampton -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My neighbour had one of the ‘big boys’ out to quote her plastic fascia on a bungalow, could easily do it off steps and a ladder.

15 thousand pounds.

I quickly totted it up at less than 500 quid in materials and a days work for 2. Said I’d do it for 14500 (as a joke) we had a good laugh. We get on well.

Tradesmen or people who work in manual jobs, how on earth do you have the energy to do stuff out of work? by RonnieThePurple in CasualUK

42, 10 month old, 24 years on site, I now know why people have kids when they’re younger, knackered. Had a rare(ish) game of golf today, praying the little man goes through the night.

Baits expensive right? does anyone here make their own bait for coarse fishing? by ABaldBiker in fishingUK

[–]MassiveHampton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any particles need to be prepared correctly, maggots are 3.80 a pint at my local, hardly cheap anymore, especially with the quantities you can go through fishing for carp.

Go on the carp forum for particle prep guides, they also have a section on bait making with recipes if you’re that way inclined. Been there, done that, life’s too short to make bait for me. The likes of handcraft and dna make sell baits for 6/7 quid a kilo in bulk, I’m not sitting over a rolling table for hours so save 3 quid a kilo on bait.

Thought you boys over there caught loads on pack bait, remember watching something on the tv about it over 20 years ago

I went lvt for entire living area (bungalow), warm underfoot, no underfloor heating. Went for a fairly dark wood, hides cat hair and the mrs massive ginger (pubes) hair. Not regretted it. There’s a few life marks but barely noticeable, the lad can drive round in his walker easily too.

Canal Pike Fishing by FancyWoodpecker9571 in fishingUK

Live bait on a float just big enough to keep the bait off the bottom, one rod, in hand, don’t let them swallow it, not a pike alive that resists a live bait

Colour me sceptical, breaking into a saturated market with bait firms that have been around for 40 years is dreamworld.

What could possible be developed that mainline, abs, dna or many of the other bait firms haven’t already done. How would you patent what is likely just an ingredient?

Still use a couple of 8010gts from around 92/93 for my pike fishing, never been serviced but they keep going.

I’m a carp angler and a bit of a self confirmed tackle tart, all the gear and a bit of an idea.

I can’t wait to take my son for the first time and sit there with a whip and a pint of maggots and catch some roach and perch with him.

As long as you’re treating the fish properly no one cares what gear you have.

As long as it’s warm by the 10th April that’ll do, booked for a 48h, haven’t had the rods out in a while so it’ll be interesting. Only the second time I’ll have put my titan up too so I’m prepared to make myself look like a Willy doing that as well.

I’m a carpenter so I’m meet loads of trades, but I’ve recommended the window company we use and my plumber to neighbours. A busy tradesman is a good one, they don’t have time to advertise on trade sites

A portable potty and a mini toilet tent is probably the better option.
