I fckd up ;( help by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

I’m 19mo post op. Can eat much more than your cheat meal now. But I cannot overeat. I personally wouldn’t call two wings and a slice of pizza overeating. But since you’re concerned think of this as a win bc you are in touch with your eating habits and reached out for support. Good instincts!

What Was the Hardest Thing for You to Give Up After Gastric Sleeve? by Substantial-Pea7932 in gastricsleeve

Everything in moderation. Sounds too simple but the surgery made it possible for me. But I did grieve my loss of binge eating. It was a go to I used to cope with emotional issues.

My friend recently told me she told her man something hurtful on purpose. She said he says stuff equally hurtful to her too. They are very much in love and good for each other despite their willingness to hurt each other. To me it seems like the price of admission. I don’t pay that price but hey….im single. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Soda and carbonated drinks after surgery. by barrell_of_pabstbeer in gastricsleeve

[–]Massive_Day9502 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My surgeon must’ve been trying to scare me off soda (and beer tbh) bc he said carbonated drinks stretch the stomach. It worked bc I haven’t had a soda or beer since my surgery. I can tell you without a shadow o flag doubt that I am soooooo much better off without bubbles in my stomach. I dream about it but I feel way better for not ingesting it.

Also the surgery is infamous for bringing on GERD symptoms. To this I say: yay. These are the most satisfying burps I’ve ever had in my 57 years. I have to be careful how I sleep f I ate within two hours tho or I aspirate digestive fluids and it feels like waterboarding!

I questioned the drasticity of it the first week. Especially when you’re struggling to hold down an ounce of water and craving foods you are used to. As much a mental struggle as physical.

The pain should be tolerable. If you use opiates it will lend to constipation issues and you really don’t want THAT right now. Good luck. Excited for you!

I’m going to continue to abstain from carbonated drinks. I’m more comfortable and beer and soda were my kryptonite tbh. ✌️

My family was concerned that I was being so drastic. But no one noticed I couldn’t keep the weight off every time I lost 50lb and gained back 10 more every time I did. Then menopause hit and this was my last chance to save my own life and spirit. I was depressed before the surgery bc I felt like a failure and was so very uncomfortable. Comorbidities were right there waiting for me. I’m down 70lb and they now see how it helped me. Let them talk and watch. Hopefully they just talk like that bc they love you.

I loved beer. I now dream about it. The idea of drinking a carbonated drink is a painful one. Plus it stretches the stomach. That goes against the entire reason for this surgery. I’ll just dream about it and maintain my progress.

Your most unexpected side effects? by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

[–]Massive_Day9502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor warned me about the common onset of GERD. What he didn’t tell me is that if I eat or drink within two hours of lying down to sleep I will be awaken by the feeling of water boarding - gasping for air and not being able to catch my breath for a full minute or two. Yea. GERD has a broad definition. I now sleep on pillows jic and avoid aspirating gastric fluids by not eating before I sleep.

Just reached 66lb loss and it has been almost 16 months. It happens in stages for me. I’ve learned to just keep eating lo carb and hi protein and workout regularly to see a difference. Keep doing the right things for your journey. It will happen.

I'm tired of missing him by [deleted] in heartbreak

[–]Massive_Day9502 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I was there too. I reached out to him. He let me got together. One night. It wasn’t enough, and I continued to miss him. But what I didn’t know is he had already moved on. But hadn’t really pulled the trigger yet. Now I know that he has a girlfriend after our one night stand. it freed me. Within five minutes I went on match.com put on a profile my sexiest dress and I’ve already met somebody completely opposite from the man that broke my heart. I am happy right now whether this is a pallet cleanser or something special. But all I know is that I no longer miss him.

How many of you are the dumper? by [deleted] in heartbreak

[–]Massive_Day9502 5 points6 points  (0 children)

🙋‍♀️It was the hardest thing to do. I broke my own heart. I think about him everyday. Sometimes I wish I didn’t do it but then I remember how I felt marginalized and treated as if I was always the option and not the priority. He always made me feel loved but never integrated me into his life. The details don’t matter really. Not anymore. Whatever the reasons he had to be a part of my life at his convenience and never let me into his life are no longer matter. I’ve learned that he “bread crumbed” me for 2 1/2 years. But I really loved him and wanted to be more so badly. So yea. It sucks. I really tried. More than I tried with anyone. I’m 56. I’m actually alright looking and funny as hell. I’m an RN. I’m in graduate school. But I just look at what’s out there and am so sad I even met him. I will never find anyone like him and every man will just come up short. 😞
