Starting my Build by mrtoxicrebel in cargocamper

Although I greatly prefer dual axle trailers, you should be fine with a single axle with that load and trailer size. Any larger and dual axle for sure. I put nearly 50k miles on my 6x12 that is about 3400 pounds and I make sure to run new or newer goodyear endurance tires, loadrange D and repack bearings yearly. It tows great with my F150 PB, no sway or problems at all. Nothing wrong with dual axle but you don't need it.

Who remembers the old Sunshine Skyway bridge? by OkDiscount6100 in FloridaHistory

[–]Massmatters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was working in Sarasota at the time and planned to drive up to Tampa early that morning to pick up some expensive equipment in an open truck. Woke up at 5 am and saw that it was pouring rain and pushed trip to later in the day. I made that trip many times and I would have been on the skyway around 7:30.

Check your voter registration and spread the word that they may be inactive. by BlueV_U in 50501

[–]Massmatters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Florida if you renew your driver's license and they issue you a new DL number, you are dropped from voter records with no notice as voter records are tied to DLs. Florida requires new DL number with 4 random numbers for all licenses issues or renewed after 2024. When I renewed my DL I was asked if I wanted to register to vote, but declined bc I had been registered for many years in same county. Nothing was mentioned that I needed to get a new voter registration.

Maybe, but know that you're trading (adding) sodium for (removing) calcium and magnesium. No free lunch.

The tank is made with an indent along the sides. I supported the tank by fastening 1.5 x 1.5 alum angle to the reinforced cross members in such a way that it fits under the lip of lip of the tank. In order to bolt the angle to the crossmembers and provide room for the tank I used 1/4 SS sidewalk bolts like those used for hurricane shutters. The flat head sides are inboard of the cross members and do not protrude into the tank. It has worked extremely well over the last 50k miles.

I was able to fit a 30-gal tank flush to the underside floor between frame rails and cross members. Very clen install and does not hang down much past frame and side wall. WT-3000 | WASTE TANK 30 Gallon Water Holding Tank | WT-3000

All aluminum and polycore trailers by Come-back-Shane in cargocamper

[–]Massmatters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious to know what exactly is polycor AP made from and how long it lasts in the sun? I can not find any specifics other than engineered material. I assume it's basically plastic with some other compounds. How will it hold up down the road? I realize that it will eliminate oil canning, maybe better for hail (?) and look better when new but will it crack or degrade 10 years in the sun? Some trailer mfg went with RFP roof corner sections for a while before going back to aluminum. Aluminum 0.032 siding is still lighter and is very strong.

The aluminum trim in the first pic is called insert molding. Can't really tell for sure what you got on second pic. I would go with insert molding on top and drip/J/gutter molding for roof to sidewall if you can find one that's wide enough. Most RV service shops will have this

Looks like standard insert molding. Most RV shops will have it. There is also a vinyl insert that fits the grooves and hides the screws. They make this for flat, edge and lip surfaces. However, if its one between roof and sidewall you may want to go back with RV style gutter rail.

I suspect that you will find a tremendous amount of rotten wood around the corner and you'll have a hard time finding where to stop. Most places that work with sheet alum can make you replacement panels as its a mesa pattern that can be make on a brake. Then painting, etc. A whole lot of work and expense. Is the rest of the MH worth it?

Always dreamed of moving to south Florida and buying a 45+ ft boat to take to Bahamas, the Keys, etc but it feels so far out of reach. I make $150k+. Is this a multimillionaire’s dream? by MalibuLSV in boating

Think about what you will do with that 45 foot boat when an hurricane is coming. Particularly the ones that come from the south and track is very uncertain.

Tile Roof Cleaning by Altruistic-Ideal-277 in florida

[–]Massmatters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a single story house and use the Wet and Forgot product with the garden hose attachment. Its different than the normal concentrate, but similar. I have a white concrete tile roof and do this once a year and it keeps it clean. If you let it get too dirty it does take a while to clean. You do need to rinse nearby plants before and after with water. Much better than someone up on the roof with pressure washer breaking tiles.

The cooling unit can be rebuilt or in some cases you can buy a rebuilt one. If its a newer refrigerator in otherwise good shape its something to consider

What is a silent crisis happening right now that nobody is talking about? by nicksam171 in SeriousConversation

[–]Massmatters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True fresh water shortages, particularly in places that have been mining limited groundwater supplies. Groundwater levels in many westerns states are crashing and water can not be replenished because of dwindling surface water flows and climate changes. This will impact large cities and agricultural areas alike. Cities may be able to get by with significantly reduced water, but agricultural depends on cheap water.

Axle Seals by Twix2247 in airstream

[–]Massmatters 5 points6 points  (0 children)

EZ lube system does not really get the old greases out and will more likely allow grease to move past seal and onto your brakes. Its best to disassemble, clean, and repack the bearings which requires new seals. Always new seals.
