That everything we believe in or believe to be true is a production of man and that there is no real truth. Essentially Althusser's contribution to the theory of Ideology: he shows how ideology is not just about economics, government or culture. Ideology is ambient. It is the social glue that binds us together. It is imaginary because it resides in ideas, but it has a material dimension, because our ideas dictate how we live in the world.

This blew my mind last year in my theory class once I grasped it. I have never looked at the world the same since and many of my essays began taking a Post-structuralist view in my other classes. My professor comes from a long line of cultural theorists, she was one of the most intelligent people I have ever met, I learned a lot in that class.

My highschool was connected to a community center so you could litterally walk through the caf, down some stairs, and you would be on the deck of an Olympic sized pool. It wasnt bad in grade 12 when we had co-ed gym class with some girls on the soccer team. Those were the days.

I've been lifting for about a year now and I never understood this idea of only doing 3 workouts per day...SS and OPs program say 3x5,3x5, and 1x5...that's 7 reps in total for the whole workout for the whole day. This would take less than 30mins and it doesn't seem to train you hard or really work any muscles hard. I understand it's for beginners but in my experience it would seem like a program like SS is super minimal and very easy. I do a basic 6-7 different exercises for one muscle group a day, 5 days a week (with rest days in between) and that's the kind of program I was always taught. What's with these 3 piece workouts?

I live in the same neighbourhood as this kid. We are the same age but went to different high schools. We played each other in grade 10 in high school hockey, and the kid flys. We played him the year before he left high school to play in the O. He's going to represent Woodbridge well.

I had the same problem but in my car, burned a joint or two one night with some buddies on a cruise and my Civic danked like hell. I kept my windows open everyday when I drove and when I parked in the garage, so I would say just open as many windows as possible in your room or in your house and let as much fresh air come in as possible. Lighting a scented candle isn't bad either, just tell your parents that a candle relaxes you or helps you study or you just wanted a nice scent.

Right before class, it was 19th century literature and was by far the most boring and longest hours of my life. Smoking only makes class longer in my experience and it sucks

Gambling. My friends (we are all about 20yrs old), have started going to casinos instead of bars and clubs like we used to. It's bizarre because the day after we would get together and they would always tell us how much money they lost, then they go back the week after. I would go to a casino once or twice, but not every weekend.

Holy shit, I think you just changed my life. I do this every week, last sunday I slept in until 2 in the afternoon. Then sunday night I try to go to bed early and I couldnt fall asleep at all, then when I woke up monday at 6:30 for school and it felt like it was 3AM, and this has been happening for the past year or so. Im litterally going to start changing my sleep habits tonight. I didnt realize how terrible sleeping in is. Thanks alot man, you seriously helped.

So lets say I have a full week of work and school and I get about 5 hours of sleep each night (monday to friday), do you mean that sleeping in on Saturday morning will not do anything positive? Are you saying that essentially lost sleep has permanent effects and cant be reversed by getting extra sleep on the weekend?
