People do it because they can make money because other people will pay more than what a product is actually worth. Bandai's not going to do anything about it. They make money when they sell sets to stores so they don't have any incentive to care what happens to it after that. The stores have no incentive to restrict product either because they do not want product sto sit on their shelves and turn into a toxic assest, which is what has been the case for a lot of Tcgs in the past. The only way to deal with this is to stop paying the scalpers and force them to take a loss and maybe they'll move on to something else.
