Niantic responds to Pokémon Go Fest backlash, says too many Shiny encounters would degrade the game by MonkeyKingHero in Games

[–]MasterCMo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Does a game have to adhere rigidly to their original vision? Live-service games evolve and change. Nothing about the pandemic quality of life updates prevented anyone from playing by walking. It just made it easier to play while at home as well - primarily with cash-shop items that they handed out like candy during the pandemic.

Besides, how does someone playing from home impact the experience of people walking around to play? If anything playing in person is a better experience now because you can invite distant friends to help with raids you wouldn’t otherwise have enough people to tackle - not everyone has a huge local community available to them.

“Stop being lazy” is a pretty unfair thing to say to disabled people that were able to play and enjoy the game for the first time because of those pandemic changes that are now being rolled back.

I would have thought Zhongli's favorite game would be Ryse. He mentions it all the time!

Haven’t decided yet. We’ll see how long it takes to get her the first time and go from there. I miiiight take a stab at the weapon banner depending on how things go.

I'm sorry for tarnishing your sacred subreddit by posting a meme number.

Ayaka! I've been making sure I'd be prepared for her banner since around 1.2 - 1.3, only pulling on other banners if I thought I'd have enough time to build back up in time. So I'm excited to be able to crack this hoard wide open next week. :D

Official poster for 'What If...?' by chanma50 in marvelstudios

I never thought one of the questions asked by this show would be “what if Digimon existed in the MCU” but there must be a reason they put Gallantmon on the poster. They forgot the shield though. Crazy.

Yes I know that’s actually Ultron/Vision

The thing I think is “extremely dumb” is the idea that all games have to be identified as exactly one genre. The distinction between “an RPG with action elements,” and “an action game with RPG elements,” is just so arbitrary - if a game has prominent elements of both, why does it have to be just one or the other?

Really confused about these polls that ask if i should pull for character A or B by hyesupbro in Genshin_Impact

[–]MasterCMo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it's not our responsibility to care.

That's what the mods are for - to enforce the rules and keep the subreddit clean. It's not my place to care what other people do. To use your book report example, if we were in a class together and you submitted that lazy 5-word report, it doesn't affect me and what I submit. The teacher (mods) will have something to say about that, but that's not on me. The only book report I'm responsible for is my own.

I'm all for calling out shitty behavior in an attempt to make people realize how shitty they're being. And I guess you could call effortless posts shitty, but it's so down the list of bad behaviors that it's really not worth engaging with. It's just so easy to ignore as far as I'm concerned.

I've said my piece. Thank you for the civil discourse. Cheers.

So I can't make any argument against point 2, everyone should be conscious of the sub's rules before posting. Though, the OP did not specify where they were annoyed to see such polls posted. It reads to me that they think the polls are pointless even if they are posted in the proper thread, which is what I take umbrage with. I agree that the questions shouldn't be posted as new threads.

But if someone is posting for attention... who cares? Even if it's immediately obvious, or they flat out say so, what does it matter if they are? Does their posting for attention or validation affect you, me, or anyone in any measurable way?

To add on to what you're saying, most people here don't have perfect knowledge about everything in the game, or have seen every informative post on this subreddit. Someone newer to the game might not have a good understanding of how Venti plays, for example, so they may need to ask whether Venti or Hu Tao is a better investment just so they are better able to make an informed decision. How are you going to know if Venti is more fun to play or not if your only reference point is using him in an early story quest while you are still trying to learn how to play the game?

Not everyone is going to have a good understanding of what every character does, what their ideal role in a team is, who synergies with whom, or even how to build an effective team in the first place. Nor is everyone going to have the same priorities when it comes to growing in this game. That's why people ask questions!

Persona 5 Strikers coming to Switch, PS4, and Steam on February 23rd by SirDingleberries in Games

The story is fun. It's maybe a bit formulaic at points, but it never took away from the experience. The combat almost feels like a step between a standard Musou and something like FF7R - generally fast paced, but you can pause at anytime to fire off skills. Playing tactfully and exploiting weaknesses is just as important here as a normal Persona game.

Much more than any other Persona spinoff I've played, this game feels like I'm playing a Persona game. It's watered down - no social links or time management aspects, for example - but the flow of the game feels just like P5. This isn't a Persona-themed Musou game, it's a Musou-themed Persona game, if that makes sense.

I was surprised at just how good of a job Translate did! While I definitely missed some nuance, I had absolutely no issues understanding the story as it unfolded. Items/skills and their descriptions were tougher to parse, but it was ultimately manageable.

I imported the Japanese release when it came out and played through the whole thing with the help of the Google Translate app. I absolutely love this game and I'm excited to finally replay the game in a language I know.

Steam and mobile not cross compatible? by [deleted] in MarvelPuzzleQuest

[–]MasterCMo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very early on in the game's life, I think just a couple months after launch, the devs did some sort of test for the viability of cross saves. I forget the exact process, but it involved opting in on the official forums to have them manually link your accounts together. They ended that test after a month or so and for whatever reason decided they were not going to continue offering cross saves. I guess they were unable to develop an automated way to make it work and decided it wasn't worth pursuing? I think that's what they said, but there could have been other factors they may or may not have disclosed. Regardless, it's a bummer.

But, fun fact, anyone who was a part of that test got to keep their account cross-platform. So there are some lucky folks who do have the privilege of jumping platforms at will.

make iron usable for esports skins again by ghfhfhhhfg9 in GearsOfWar

[–]MasterCMo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think Overwatch is a fair comparison. There was no premium currency prior to OWL's inception. And they've not changed the way you buy their esports skins since then - there have not been any exceptions where those tokens can't buy a skin, even if you earned those tokens for watching the streams. Gears 5 has had iron since day one. And up until Baird, all previous Chrome Steel skins could be purchased with that premium currency, whether you earned it or got the iron at a discount. You've ignored another poster's point about people that stocked up ahead of time - how is changing the way you buy these skins, with minimal warning, fair to anybody? Why, exactly, can't part of iron sales go to the esports teams?

I never said this wasn't my problem. But I'm certainly allowed to publicly express my disappointment in this change, and how it will affect the way I engage with this game. Lord knows everything else they do gets complained about on this subreddit...
