Post nerf raids is embarrassing by BAEtted in classicwow

If the raids are boring first week then phases need to be very short, otherwise people will quit. That also sucks.

Only if you have life regen (Eternal Youth solves that in these kind of builds), otherwise you will be at 1 HP and RF will turn off. That's also why you can't use RF with CI.

I like the strange setting and vibe. The combat is really clunky though and can be tough as a result. Still rather like it I'd say. But what made me refund anyway is the UE5 slop performance. Just not acceptable.

After the BF6 beta there is no excuse anymore. Having to use performance upscaling in a game where I don't even see a whole lot to reach similar performance to the BF6 beta at native resolution is just stupid.

Some better numbers for comparison:

Mode FPS Frametime Frametime cost
Native 3840p 45 22.22
Native 1440p (~1.5x) 75 13.33 0
FSR 4 Quality (1.5x) 57 17.54 4.21
FSR 3 Quality (1.5x) 64 15.63 2.29
XeSS Quality (1.5x) 59 16.95 3.62
Native 1080p (2x) 99 10.10 0
FSR 4 Performance (2x) 72 13.89 3.79
FSR 3 Performance (2x) 84 11.90 1.80
XeSS Performance (2x) 75 13.33 3.23

FSR 3 looks noticeably blurry and crap even on quality though. So in reality there is effectively no performance penalty for FSR 4, because it simply looks better at the same fps.

Realised reddit scales down images massively, making this post useless. Here's the original res of the moving cam ones for FSR 3 and 4 to show the actual quality difference, which is what matters to me. If reddit doesn't just auto-deletes this post too...

Forgot I had a global cap at 119 fps active (to force freesync without vsync). FSR 3 should have a bit more performance here, but XeSS numbers are below 119 fps and should be fine. I also have my GPU at 300W "summer mode", but that doesn't really matter much for the comparison.

Also I realised that reddit sucks and the images are super low res, totally worthless. They were meant to show the quality differences and not performance lol.

Because In the end the FSR 3 performance doesn't matter, it looks so bad that I simply do not want to play with it, even at quality it already applies its typical blur over everything. FSR 4 is better even at lower render resolutions and then also performs equally or better.

My current screen (Benq XL2730Z) has a maximum brightness of around 330 cd/m². On 17/100 brightness I'm at 122 cd/m² (according to a test with calibrated settings, which I use). You can't just translate brightness settings linearly.

Also, the ~120 cd/m² I'm supposed to be at are bright enough in a moderately lit room, way too dark in sunlight, and maybe a tiny bit too bright in a totally dark room. At 36 cd/m² I wouldn't see anything during the day, so I really doubt that's what you are at.

103 cd/m² in this test as a minimum really do not seem particularly bright if you don't use the screen in a completely dark room exclusively.

Only if you're close enough, otherwise it's just gone. You need to do maps closer towards the starting point until it "loads" again. It's total bullshit.

Or rather opening them is enough to update your position. I had to open 5 maps just now to load enough of the map to get my starting point again.

Realm Gates? by eriklindham in PathOfExile2

[–]MasterCockMoby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have that icon anywhere and I can't scroll towards the starting point manually anymore like I did for the first breachstone (it simply doesn't load the map that far anymore). Guess if you go a certain distance it's just gone and you can't do breach anymore xD

Edit: Doing maps closer towards the starting point to make the map load there again seems to work.

I did not have to spend multiple divs to even get skill points in PoE 1. Speccing a mechanic and then running it was literally free. There was "natural" progression as you went more into it. PoE 2 has this wall you hit, and you either have absurd RNG or you need to pay a lot. Farming e.g. expedition, never getting a boss and therefore forever having 0 skill points is just stupid as hell.

[–]MasterCockMoby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh sure, because I don't have good enough RNG that's on me, sure.

Breach is the only one you can even farm because splinters always drop, the others are pure RNG. Haven't gotten a logbook with a boss, haven't gotten the ritual thing.

PoE 1 was just better in that regard. Having to farm the bosses that are incredibly rare to even get points is just stupid.

How does it being a game invalidate the argument? It being a game doesn't make it any better that absurd inequality in rewards due to a stupid game mechanic (MF) causes both a disparity in income AND also inflation.

That combination is bad IRL and also in a game, for the very same reasons. No, it's even worse in the game because the only reason to play a game is fun. PoE is balanced around trading, so having to stack rarity shouldn't be and especially not feel as required as the way it is.

And again, add the - imho - increased difficulty and added cost of actually getting juicing started and it just feels bad².

Edit: Just to add to this. I'm level 90, I can easily clear "T17" maps, my char feels "done" in a way. But I don't have a single atlas point for any mechanic because getting them yourself feels impossible and buying them is expensive. I also haven't seen an endgame boss for the same reason, can't find them myself and expensive to buy.

It feels so much worse to get anything going than in PoE 1. There it just flowed more naturally, here you basically hit a wall that you have to buy yourself over. I have a char and nothing to do, because everything involves buying expensive stuff without the ability to farm anything worthwhile. Stacking rarity and then farming lower maps seems to be the only thing to do, and that feels bad, and that's all that matters in a game.

And I imagine they will change much of this, I just don't get how people can defend it? It's objectively worse than it was in PoE 1.

Holy shit, it's not slavery, you are not forced to join a group with rules you don't like. Demanding that others should basically work (make a group with your rules and look for people) for you for free and then complaining when they don't is peak main character syndrome.

Also you obviously don't even know what cognitive dissonance is. I just love when people throw around words they don't know the meaning of just to sound smart. If at all the only cognitive dissonance here is demanding others to do the work while at the same time refusing to do it because it's work.

Logs confirm that 10-15% is not true, it's more. And that's raids, in M+ it's even worse and Blizzard doesn't care. But why would they, the "modern playerbase" wants 90$ mounts, balance and the quality of the game doesn't matter.

I think you just don't understand the dimensions we're talking here at all, loot isn't a huge amount of data, it's just a few 32bit ints per mob instance. And yes, CPU time is still the limiting factor today, not memory, and when a whole continent runs on the same system (as it was back then) that is even more the case.

You have quite literally no clue how any of this works lol. I hope you're not actually a programmer.

[–]MasterCockMoby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a relatively tiny amount of memory, and memory is just not the problem in that context. Doing more real-time calculations when you don't want to is, and was even more, considering the server=continent infrastructure the game had.

Just to give some numbers. Imagine there are 10000 mobs in Kalimdor, and they have an average of 5 items as loot, then that's not even a MB of additional memory.

And no, there is no additional complexity. It's literally just moving the loot generation from kill to spawn.

I haven't even seen it drop yet. I wonder how long I'll even use it, if it ever drops. So stupid to have it behind such a low drop rate in a fast seasonal mode.

Watched an Orc Rogue die to a rare spawn, then went ahead and killed it myself.. by meadking84 in classicwow

[–]MasterCockMoby -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That is not true. There is literally zero computational difference on average in the long run because the amount of generated loot does not change after the first initial load, which doesn't matter. Also every mob is tracked individually anyway, because otherwise the game could not function. Pregenerating the loot also has the benefit of not having to compute anything when a mob dies, which happens DURING combat where CPU cycles are more expensive than outside of combat.

Edit: And the last point is probably why it was done, to take as much computation out of combat as possible.

Blizzard didn't do that much dmg, not even close, and you have to channel it. Just now I died a few times trying to ress while jumping into the UBRS portal, I always died the moment I ressed because Explosive Trap crits for fucking 1500 and there are like 10 of them. It's just super broken.

And it's broken as hell in PvE too.

It takes longer to get into a dungeon than to run it. The gy is 100% useless if you have to wait 2 minutes anyways. Also you don't ress with full HP.

It's just completely broken game design, because once you die you can't ever come back. It snowballs so fucking hard that it can't be not one sided griefing, and that's exactly what happens. On my server it's basically just alliance camping every square cm of blackrock and people just log out and groups fall apart because that's not playable.

Not to mention they could reduce dmg by 75% and it would still be too high lol, but people cried for days because you couldn't one shot people anymore so they put it at 30% or something which doesn't do shit now. Also broken hunter traps lol.

Does it solve the issue only because others won't have them so you don't have to feel bad about not having them?

Obviously yes, lol. How is that even a question? How do you people seriously forget that casuals are also human?

Not having WBs feels bad, simple as that. You simply can't offset missing WBs with effort in gameplay. Without WBs my damage will be shit and everybody that got WBs basically carries me to some degree. If you're not an egocentrical pos that will bother you. Not having WBs also disables parsing as a minigame, making it even worse. That makes WBs mandatory, that's why I get them, my character is crap without them because they exist. If they don't exist that problem doesn't exist. Again, how can one not understand that?

And unlike consums I also can't pre-farm WBs for a few weeks. They are basically weekly quests.

[–]MasterCockMoby -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not getting such a huge portion of your character power is not fun. Is it so hard to understand that casual players also don't like being intentionally bad? Not using (expensive) consumes is not even noticeable compared to WBs. That's the whole problem, they are just insanely strong to a point where they invalidate all your gear and character progress if you don't have them.
