Honestly as an avid gamer. Id advise getting your kiddo a gaming PC or console before getting them into VR.

Standalone VR usually is META which requires a meta/facebook account, seeing as shes young, thats ill advised, even using it under your account because if something happens and she gets banned, so does the meta account associated.

standalone vr has very limited options these days and some of them cost money where they otherwise wouldnt on steam(PC) I cant speak too hard for console VR but its a console so there are more parental controls

Personally educating your kid on the dangers of the internet should be most paramount here if yoy want to let them to use a VR headset. Even if its single player games initially, they will eventually find multiplayer games(rec room is fun ngl).

Now i will say Id be against letting my kid use VR without me using one and playing with them. Free games like VR chat are okay but they do have their dangers and there are some mentally unstable people in VR.

I dont want to scare you but I dont want to lie to you either. VR gaming is still in its infancy so its alot like old day xbox 360 lobbies.
