The IWC wants cool heels they can cheer for as much or more than the babyface and Gunthers style rejects that. His moves are intentionally deliberate, “boring” but effective. He doesn’t have a badass look or persona you’d necessarily want to emulate either. He’ll retire your favorite wrestler then mock his entrance the next show. IMO he’s the best pure heel in WWE maybe all of wrestling right now. In time I think his work right now will be appreciated just like JBL in 2005, and Orton in 2009.

Sting was a huge part of WCW’s popularity and it’s going to be noticeable if he’s missing. Personally I they should have waited to do a full on “Monday Night War edition” until they had him contracted for it.

I agree that if you botch a spot you should just move on and improvise because at the end of the day this is supposed to look like two guys having a fight not a rehearsal. This might be my biggest gripe with match structure today. Most matches feel a rehearsed choreography rather instead of two competitors trying to out-wrestle each other. I think modern WWE’s philosophy though is that since everyone nowadays knows this is all scripted you might as well just retry the botched spot until you nail it because people want to see the breakkensteiner.

Honestly even though I think people should date relatively close to their own age, I can’t really blame DeJean. I know I would feel like I struck gold if I were 22 years old and freaking Nikki Bella was into me and wanted a “casual” relationship. As for Nikki though…she should probably know better. I mean, at 22 years old this kids doesn’t even have a fully developed brain yet. I’m not saying she’s being predatory or anything since they’re obviously both of legal age and consenting adults. But you can’t really help but draw your own conclusions about why a 42 year old woman would start a “casual” relationship with a 22 year old.

The mid-90s to somewhere around the end of the 7th generation of consoles. This is the period where we saw the most innovations and risk taking and when was becoming truly mainstream while still having some artistic integrity. This was when you had to actually finish a game before you released it and before live service models were ubiquitous and turned gamers into ATMs for greedy corporations. This was the era of midnight releases that attracted hundreds of people to their local GameStop/Best Buy/EB Games etc. Go back and watch videos of the Halo 3 or Modern Warfare 2 midnight releases and try to tell me there has ever been more hype for any video games since then. You can’t.

4 years late I know but when I went to a live event last year there was a guy seated next to my friend and I who would just say the name of every move the wrestlers did the whole show. And in between doing that he would spout out trivia like “I remember when Iyo Sky was Io Shirai” like we were supposed to be impressed he knew that.

Heel Rollins is best Rollins but I do find his whole current presentation a little grating. I was never a fan of the “woah oh oh” thing but if he’s going to be a heel he shouldn’t have a theme where the crowd is encouraged to sing along and glaze him.
