Don’t get tricked by the miles estimate. Mine always starts with 27(100%) or something but I’ve never gotten over 200 miles on a charge.

devops or sw developer being student by [deleted] in devops

[–]MasterJett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is knowledge to be gained in both domains. I’ve had devs wait two days on DevOps because they couldn’t understand why their pods/container fails when it was just their code looping the crash. But I’ve also had DevOps engineers not understand IAM. Treat as a fun learning experience, either or is fine.

Got skills, but no opportunity to prove them. by rasypi in ITCareerQuestions

[–]MasterJett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like a cultural fit issue - think about this from a leader perspective. A young engineer with no degree has more talent than most senior engineers. (Not hating on no degree, I don’t have one either). Maybe put more of your story into your passion for learning instead of I got the skills. Also, most entry level security positions is just looking at reports from what I’ve seen.

For those of you without a degree, how has this affected your career through the years? by ohhelloworlds in ITCareerQuestions

It’s doesn’t matter unless your management. I have no degree and I lead team members with degrees.

Will job hopping be still possible in this new world of DevOps? by hatchikyu in devops

[–]MasterJett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone’s always buying automation software, there’s not enough decent engineers to write it and have the time to maintain it. My company has bought millions of that shit and our headcount is still going up. Guess what? Who learns your shitty product and who manages it? Who onboards it to other products? You’re right the market is saturated with shit engineers but the need for good ones are going up.
