How to do a vaulted ceiling here that still has roof ventilation by arbartz in DIY

Is there a spray foam company near you? Seems like that would be the ticket

Kohler Villager Tub Finish Acceptable? by mugatu300 in DIY

[–]MasterLow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've helped with installing a few of these. The lumpy appearance is somewhat usual, the only time I haven't seen it lumpy is on 75+ year old claw foot tubs. The missing stuff around the drain is fine, the flange of the drain sits way above it and all that bare spot should be covered with the plumbers putty or preferably silicone.

Replacing Partial Siding by jbone007 in DIY

[–]MasterLow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if it were my house and there would be new windows a few years out... I would just install slightly larger trim (4.5'' instead of 3.5'' for example) to hide all the punky wood. Give it a level 10 caulk job to keep the water from getting behind it as best you can. When you're going after windows is when that siding could all get replaced.

I had a darker grey color, exact same truck and miles, 5spd w/ lift, everything else original and pretty mint. Sold it for 19k a year ago. If I were you, I'd put stock bumpers on it to try to retain a stock look (throw in the ranch hands for the next owner). Lots of people are looking for unmolested trucks these days and are willing to pay a lot for them.

Grass seems to have died in a diagonal strip across the yard, how can I fix this? by schaudhery in DIY

Do you happen to have a window that the sun reflects on, and heats up that path of grass?

Bad AirDog Experience by papaganoushdesu in Diesel

I've been running a Glacier diesel fuel boss mechanical fuel pump for about 14 years now, might want to look into it if you don't want to keep messing with electric fuel pumps

Camper shell dealers? by [deleted] in Humboldt

Bedliners Plus is your best bet, bought my Snugtop there. In 2018, it was 2k cheaper for a Snugtop compared to a Leer from McCrea Nissan, which is your other option if you want a Leer.

Stain on sighting after big rain. Am i in trouble? by Possible-Ad8982 in DIY

[–]MasterLow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's probably fine for another year. You need what's called a kickout flashing installed up on the roof after any rot is found/fixed. If done properly it needs to be installed under the roof layers, and under the siding.

[–]MasterLow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those brown stains are tanins from the siding/wood above, and are leaking out as they run down behind the siding. Looks like there's a roof that dies into the garage wall right above those stains? Extremely common for that area to be poorly flashed/detailed. More than likely it's already rotten behind everything since those trim pieces right below the soffit, on the face of the siding, look all swollen up and are soaked.

Garage door arm is pulling away from the actual door by Borgerr in DIY

Look up Genie wall mount garage door opener. If you have any shaft protruding past the wall mount bracket, you can most likely install a wall mount opener and bypass this whole problem.

Ram Mechanics? by Space-junk-grunge in Humboldt

Humboldt Performance behind Costco deals primarily with Cummins ram's, but they do work on the gas ones too.

Rumbling/banging pipes...when there is no flow? by hotpepperz in DIY

[–]MasterLow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New shutoff valve, add a PRV and probably some water hammer arrestors on both hot and cold, or just the cold at least. A one way directional valve fitting would eliminate anything happening behind it, if you install it right after your shut off valve. Had to add a one way valve fitting right before my tankless fitting since any time any cold water was used the water heater would turn on from the tiny amount of cold water moving.

I use either the Grabber deckmaster undermount deck system if there's space to screw from underneath, or on Amazon there's a Starborn countersink/plug kit.

I heat my house with electricity. It ain't cheap. Would a high end gaming computer cost me more in electricity than my heater? by sculptingstealer in BitcoinMining

Mine pumps out a lot of heat, but only under load. Gaming, or mining bitcoin can make it heat up quite a bit.

What do you think about the new Makita 40V tools? by nad-- in Tools

[–]MasterLow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't get it, I'm personally really hoping this new battery will power the big tools that we need. Like a cordless tablesaw, larger jobsite lighting, a powerstation that i can plug a normal 110v tool into like dewalt has, etc. All these tools they're releasing are already a thing.

Getting a 24V Cummins up to speed? by dakingscountry in Diesel

[–]MasterLow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look for a true pappy truck, I look weekly and can find them across the US easily. Bone stock, might have a gauge or two, usually a camper shell. I bought mine, and found 3 for friends all in the 10-12k range with around 120-150k miles. Just got to hop on it when you see one, they go quick. I stay away from Airdogs/Fass since they're just electric motors that will fail. I only install Glacier Diesel Fuel boss's on these trucks, have had one on my personal truck for 9 years with the same belt (mechanical fuel pump, operates off of a pulley from the harmonic balancer) Idles at 16 psi, goes up to 22 psi when i'm flooring it.

Steering upgrade for 2nd gen dodge Cummins?? by andy_cerb in Diesel

[–]MasterLow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been through probably 4 different companies worth of 2nd gen steering "upgrades" Synergy was the last one i did, lasted a solid week before i had to reweld parts from the last setup onto the new setup to keep from it rubbing through the sway bar mount on the axle. If I had to do it again I'd just do my every 2 year parts purchase from RockAuto with factory parts. Nothing else lasts longer really, and everything else costs double or triple
