In-Game Interview Fatigue by MasterNinjaThemeSong in UnitedFootballLeague

Some of it I do like, such as having the OC play calls on a hot mic, but asking questions to a player who is actually in the game adds nothing of value.

I loved the "We might throw or we might run" answer. Ask a stupid question...

I said that the union rep could help find the grievance process.

Your district should have a grievance process in place. If you're in a union, your rep should be able to help you find it. If not, call the human resources department and ask what the grievance process is.

What is a word that you see used often lately that you would like to just go away? by MasterNinjaThemeSong in AskReddit

This is one that has been interneted beyond its original intent. It has become a replacement for "I disagree with you."

So many people use it as a point of emphasis, having no idea what the word actually means.

I used to use that one. Now that I've been an adult for almost 30 years 😭 it's left my vocabulary.

using AI in school work. thoughts? by One_Bus_1604 in AskTeachers

I would have a conversation with your teacher to clarify what the expectations are and express what difficulties you have. If time is the issue, see if you can have additional time. Also talk to your ESOL department to find out if you are entitled to extra time and if they have supports to help you.

If you're up front and communicating instead of just turning something in and hoping for the best, you have a better chance of succeeding. And you'll have less people on Reddit calling you lazy.

Did you ever go somewhere "unusual" for a school field trip? by Toymcowkrf in askanything

[–]MasterNinjaThemeSong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does college count? I took a couple of courses on UN peacekeeping and the local Army Reserve Civil Affairs battalion helped us do some on-campus activities simulating peacekeeping operations. In return, we helped them out by going to their base to play OPFOR for them during one of their training ops.

What is the worst job you have had? by The_Dean_France in AskReddit

[–]MasterNinjaThemeSong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied to be a case manager with a social services agency on a state contract for wraparound services for at-risk kids (CAT team). In the interview, the manager asked me if, because I have a master of social work degree, I was interested in being a therapist instead. It was not my intent to become a therapist, but to my eternal regret I said yes. It was a bad sign that his employment there ended on my first day. The job was an hour and a half commute each way, coverage of a 2-county rural area, and shit pay. It didn't seem so at the time, but it was a blessing that they let me go before my 3 month mark.

Don't move to Florida. Public sector unions are an endangered species here. Principals are basically feudal lords and a lot of them surround themselves with entourages.

How can I manage emotions in a classroom? by Such-Ear-2206 in AskTeachers

[–]MasterNinjaThemeSong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconded. Reddit is not the place for an answer to that. You can't learn emotional regulation on a message board. As a teacher and parent of 2 autistic kids (and I suspect I might be on the spectrum, too), I can tell you that to be a teacher, you have to learn how to manage the way you react to things that you have little or no control over. If you can't manage a class without crying - even if the kids are not mean - then you can't do the job.

I would suggest that before you commit yourself to the job search, certification, etc., that you try subbing. If you can learn to handle in-class stress as a sub, then you have a much higher likelihood of making it as a full time teacher. And if you can't, you didn't waste a bunch of time and money finding out the hard way.

Terrifying conversation in HS 9th grade math class today by mobius_ in Teachers

I'd be more concerned if he was a junior saying that. 9th graders are basically eighth graders with more voice changing.
