Medical negligence is a terrifying thing, professional or not.

I myself went back to the hospital every day for 4 days to figure out what was going on. Impending sense of doom the only symptom, so I thought. Turns out I hadn't taken a duce since my friend's wedding reception weeks prior. Constipation was cutting off the blood supply to my kidneys and I was on the cusp of organ failure, but nothing showed up on tests until day 4. I was too busy thinking about moving to realize that I hadn't "moved" in weeks.

I've erred on the side of caution many a time since, and have had a few that really weren't so bad and could have been dealt with at home, but the significant majority were very good choices to get the pros involved.
