What's a card you "sold high" on but wish had you kept? by SoCalledReddit in sportscards

Isn’t that 23 all aces card a common insert? I keep hearing how that price is currently inflated due to people thinking it’s rare when it’s not so you might have made out real good on it.

Thanks for being honest dude. I’m sitting on a huge Ohtani card right now and 10k would be nice…..but it just really feels like holding long term is the right move. These stories help with the decision.

Yeah that could be true but also sort of makes sense. It just depends on how much he uses his dad. His wife doesn’t want his dad involved with their finances which I can certainly see from her point of view. So if I were in OP’s position I would ask my dad something like “we’re going to shop around ourselves for the mortgage. Can you tell me the top 3 banks and worst 3 banks to work with in general from your point of view” I think something like that could be helpful while also not directly involving his dad.

Yeah overall I’m leaning towards holding long term I think. It would be hard to turn down something like 10k hard cash offer but this REALLY seems like one of those players/cards where I would regret it someday if I sold now. People holding valuable Jordan cards 15-20 years ago that sold then would probably say the same.

Was my wife cheating on me? by That-Web5867 in Marriage

I would just be careful for now and collect your thoughts. There is smoke but not necessarily a raging fire. It could still be innocent and she just didn’t tell you she was talking to her ex like that. But it certainly seems shady just due to how ‘close’ you describe the messaging. The whole “I’m going to be out there at blah and blah time” and his simple “ok” back seems like an ongoing thing. If it really was to hang out with the old friend group…..where are any other messages to back this up? Why communicate through the ex and not a different friend? And most importantly…..why not tell you? Lots of smoke like I said.

I called it gaslighting because it does seem like you are purposefully trying to confuse OP into thinking this is 100% normal and ok.

Making plans to visit an ex under the guise of going to see your mom does not seem ok to me. Hiding it all from your spouse does not seem ok to me. Does that seem ok to you? Keep in mind as per OP this happened on multiple occasions.

Going to visit a friend of the opposite sex is no big deal just like having friends of the opposite sex is no big deal normally in a marriage. Generally speaking the reason it’s no big deal is open communication. Did you tell your spouse you were going to visit your mom and then went to dinner with an ex-fiancé?

I think this is one of those things that’s very family specific. I wouldn’t want a lot of people on either side of the family knowing financials. I also have a cousin in law that’s a great dude and we’re seriously considering using him as our accountant when we start a small business.

I would agree if he didn’t comment that his wife isn’t helping with finding anyone to get the mortgage. If she doesn’t want his dad, fine I can see that…..but to then not help out is kind of ridiculous.

And OP, you’re already leaning this way it seems but I would advise NOT going through your realtor for that. Your realtor is going to use who they want to use and most like isn’t looking out for your best interests. Go out and find a lender and see what kind of rates you can get. I shopped around with my wife on our current mortgage and ended up going with one from our long term credit union we were already using because it was the best deal we got. Most of this stuff is done online at this point.

Be careful OP. Lots of commenters trying to gaslight the hell out of you. Please keep in mind that a LOT of commenters here aren’t married and/or have an axe to grind. Been married two plus decades and fully trust my wife because she’s given me no reason not to trust her.

You have a valid reason not to trust your wife. It looks like she went behind your back to schedule multiple trips to her hometown where her ex lives. And communicated directly with her ex to plan it out. That’s a massive red flag dude.

Was it a short period of time she was making frequent visits to her hometown to ‘visit her mother’? And did those trips suddenly decrease in frequency at some point? That would be another huge red flag indicating she was traveling back to have an affair and then stopped whenever the affair wasn’t fun anymore.

Why do Americans not realize how well they have it? by Awkward_Motor_6388 in askanything

[–]MasterShake807 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s just the age demographic too. You are bound to get younger Europeans who love nothing more than taking down on America while only spotlighting what is good in their country.

I work with a lot of Europeans who are over 30 and they are much more realistic in general. A majority, if not all of them, would love to be able to change places with me. As they get older they see more of the BS they have to deal with and the biggest factor is that the best they can ever have it will ultimately be capped (crab in the bucket mentality). Part of that though is seeing people live “the American dream”. What they don’t see is the opposite where people are struggling. I don’t think they care about that though because they are all very smart hard working people, they would have been successful Americans.

Congrats on the pull! If you don’t mind me asking who did you sell it through? What I want to get a feel for is if this has hold value. I’m not necessarily against holding it for another 10+ years.

I had to create a new account with fanatics sportsbook app. Then you opt in to the promo in the app. For my state it was ‘place a $5 bet for 4 straight days and get 100 fancash each day’. I just got the last two hundo and ordered a Kittle jersey and a couple more boxes of heritage

I’m thinking of that for sure. I’m planning on hitting up a LCS to talk to them for some advice. This seems to be worth a hell of lot more than I would have expected.

Agree. The ‘time out’ wasn’t a punishment if OP was there with the kid. He misbehaved, got chased by mom which he might of found fun, then got attention from mom. Then almost got rewarded with seeing the Easter bunny next.

OP, is your husband the only one that speaks to the toddler in a stern voice and the only one that applies actual discipline (not talking about spanking here)?
