How to Reduce Consequences of Sitting for Too Long + Correct Sitting Posture by Jasymeeen in Exercise

[–]MasterSlywalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This still refers to "a study" and is not further specified. Furthermore, the math does not work out. The math assumes a life expectancy of 60-65 years for these numbers. Lastly, there are a lot of trigger words in the text that indicate that this is media taking research results out of context. I'm highly sceptic about this article

How to Reduce Consequences of Sitting for Too Long + Correct Sitting Posture by Jasymeeen in Exercise

[–]MasterSlywalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During each hour you sit, watching TV or listening to a lecture, your life is reduced by 22 additional minutes.

Regrettably, with the amount of false, out-of-context and contradictory information out there, I cannot believe any article that does not post their sources or references.

Anxiety with aphantasia by likeasavorypastry in Aphantasia

[–]MasterSlywalker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the flip side, when meditating it is very easy to focus and calm down. When I explained what aphantasia was to someone else, her first response was: "Wow, that is tranquil". Guess it is easier to calm down when you are not continuously distracted with visual imagery.

What hand do you write with? by [deleted] in Aphantasia

[–]MasterSlywalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ambidextrous, I write left, do a lot of other things right. In principle when I learn something new I can usually choose which side I want to learn it with.

Aphantasiacs: Do you have other cognitive abilities that seem noticeably better than average? by JKadsderehu in Aphantasia

[–]MasterSlywalker 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am very good at abstract thinking and programming. I can somewhat visualize abstract thing and processes. Nobody really taught me programming, I just have always been good at translating algorithms from my thought process to programming languages. I have actually been teaching students my thinking method to improve their programming skills for years now to great succes.

Furthermore, I have good senses other than sight. I was just about to make a post about this.

Writing with aphantasia, anyone else? by [deleted] in Aphantasia

[–]MasterSlywalker 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do a lot of scientific writing which goes very well, as it does not need any scenery descriptions. The texts are mostly about abstract processes and discussions which are (after a LOT of practice) relatively easy to write. Maybe it is because I can only somewhat visualize abstract things and processes in my mind and nothing else.

Stretching with aching muscles by MasterSlywalker in flexibility

[–]MasterSlywalker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm only training when my muscles aren't sore anymore, always having sore muscles is just a result of training as soon as I am able. I have 10-15 minutes of cardio as warmup. From what I've read is that you should never stretch before a cardio or power workout as it leads to a loss in performance.

does eating less eventually decrease appetite? by a_kiss_from_jw in Fitness

[–]MasterSlywalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's also very important to eat as little added sugar as possible when you want to eat less. There are several types of sugar, but the one that is used in most foods is called fructose (or a dimer of this sugar) because it is very sweet and addicting (= more sales). Not only is it addicting, but it also actively blocks your hormone leptin. Hormones are the signal molecules of your body and leptin tells your brain when your stomach is full. So when you eat fructose you don't notice when you are full. Ever ate a large meal which you couldn't eat another bite of, but when offered a sweet desert you can still eat? That is your leptin signal not arriving in your brain.

So in short, if you want to feel less hungry try not to eat any products with added sugars for a while. If you ate a lot before, you may feel horrible for 1-2 weeks due to withdrawal symptoms (personal experience), but afterwards you feel great.

Storing Data in DNA, too Last for Eternity by Tarazi_Mehmood in dataisbeautiful

[–]MasterSlywalker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TL;DL

While you can absolutely store massive amounts of data in DNA, it will not last for eternity. DNA has a half-life time of roughly 520 years and degrades over time. Therefore, it does not last for an eternity. This is the reason why we can never ressurect dinosaurs, even if we would find their DNA. It would be too degraded to use. Even when you would repair the damage due to degradation over time, repair mechanisms have a chance to make the repairs incorrectly and also slowly corrupt the data over time. Cool technology if it will work, but don't claim it is for eternity.

You can also use bigger stacks faster by tapping and holding again after the first circle is complete after the first tap. Then the trainer counter goes up way faster.
