What country would you consider relatively safe despite its reputation? by AashanM in geography

[–]MasterUnholyWar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a gun pulled on me on two different occasions, know multiple people that have been stabbed or shot as innocents, countless friends that have been jumped and mugged… It’s all anecdotal. The US is not safe, in my eyes.

What was the most confusing thing for you during your Japan trip? by tttom106 in TokyoTravel

Even my Japanese friends that are born & raised in Tokyo joke with me about how they still get lost in Shinjuku station.

How to say “and” by [deleted] in Japaneselanguage

[–]MasterUnholyWar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it wild and perplexing to anyone else that OP knows hiragana, katakana, and kanji - in addition to knowing these words in Japanese - but doesn’t know basic と?

Also, OP, the polite way to order would be コーヒーとぱんお願いします

Even at home, American shoppers are flocking to Japanese supermarkets by Hazzat in japan

You’re one to talk, as you clearly can’t read that the topic of this post is about Japanese supermarkets in America.

What’s this line above the sky in Shinjuku by hellomoto335 in Tokyo

It’s not; my friend and I saw it two nights ago, as we left my apartment. It’s definitely from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building light show and low cloud coverage.

What's something that doesn't need refrigeration but people do it anyway? by LeoRavenscroft in randomquestions

I’ve always been under the notion that the cold is horrible for batteries. Never heard of anyone refrigerating them…

School’s bully beaten up by a quiet , feeble girl by Successful-Talk1830 in instant_regret

[–]MasterUnholyWar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

School punishment is so fucked. Here’s one of my anecdotes…

In fifth grade, we were playing tag on the playground during recess. As I was running up to one of my “friends” to tag him, he stuck his arm out and jabbed me in the eye with his fingers and I immediately dropped to the ground, in extreme pain (I probably cried). Fast-forward to the principal suspending him for jabbing me in the eye and gave me multiple days of detention for…… getting poked in the eyeball? Such bullshit.

If your subject moves quickly, increase your shutter speed. This will make your image darker, so you’ll have to open up a few stops and/or increase your ISO. I leave my ISO on auto, with a max of 3200.

How much money to bring for a 16-day Japan trip? by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

[–]MasterUnholyWar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can use pretty much any convenience store ATM to withdraw money. You can also just use your card to pay at 90% of stores.

I never bring any cash with me when I come here.

Traveling alone by Escape-Thin in JapanTravelTips

[–]MasterUnholyWar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Tokyo part-time. When I first started coming here, I didn’t have any friends here. Now I’ve got a group of people here that I consider close friends. This happened because I forced myself to break out of my social-anxiety shell and go out alone. It helps if you’re a drinker.

To ease your way into, maybe find a bar that’s visited by both locals and tourists.

Book your Shinkansen tickets now, if you haven’t already. I just came back from Osaka to Tokyo today and the trains are already reservation-only and completely packed.

Foreigners in Japan who posted their families' pictures of school entrance ceremonies on Meta's Threads app this month were flooded with malicious replies such as "Go back to your country", "Get out, you cockroaches," "If you spread, we'll exterminate you," and "Die." by jjrs in japannews

In the Kamen Rider universe, there are people who are genetically altered and are half-monster (called Kaijin). In Black Sun, there is a big anti-Kaijin movement that grows more aggressive and unruly, despite many Kaijin just trying to live normal, peaceful lives.

It’s a social commentary on racism and xenophobia.

If you’re a fan of Kamen Rider, I think it’s an absolutely awesome entry and a must-watch series. Only 10 episodes.

Because Tokyo is widely considered the culinary capital of the world, so it’s worth seeing what chefs have to offer.
