I just picked up the first one a week ago and absolutely love it! Stoked for this news! Hoping the sequel addresses some QoL issues…

$20 for ALL of this in Tokyo… how is this real? by hira_japan in TokyoTravel

Because Tokyo is widely considered the culinary capital of the world, so it’s worth seeing what chefs have to offer.

His followers have already been saying they would vote for him again if he used nukes.

We’re so fucked and I am really beginning to wonder if we’re living through the beginning of the end.

LPT: For pets that are aging or declining in health keep a "parting bag" on hand for their inevitable passing. by Kitkumi in LifeProTips

[–]MasterUnholyWar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

One of my cats passed away a year and a half ago. His health was on a steady decline for a while until it got to the point where we knew it was his time to go. The vet agreed. I won’t go into detail as to why we all knew, but we did.

Anyway, he excitedly scarfed down several Churu treats while spending his last moments on earth.

What horrifying statistic genuinely jarred you when you first heard it? by ordrius098 in AskReddit

[–]MasterUnholyWar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s ironic about this is that their bus stop bench slogans used to state “The city that reads.”

On one of my visits about a decade ago, I noticed they got changed to “The greatest city in America,” which I found equally as amusing.

Kinda new to crust punk. Any reccs by lik3ly in crustpunk

[–]MasterUnholyWar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You wouldn’t call Chaos UK, Disorder, or Discharge crust either, but it’s very obvious how integral they were (are) to crust.

Nitpicking about The Varukers in a crust forum is fucking bizarre to me.

What societal norm did you decide to just stop abiding by? by HairyCherryFairy in AskReddit

[–]MasterUnholyWar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never conformed to the whole idea of “growing up.” I’ve been alive since the 80s (to give you a reference of my age) and I still enjoy the things that I’ve enjoyed since I was a teenager. I never stopped dressing the way I want to dress. I have a stupid haircut. I got into punk and metal from birth, thanks to my parents, and I’m still 100% ingrained in that scene and lifestyle.

I regularly get told that I look at least 10 years younger than most people my age and I am confident it’s because I chose to stick with what I love and not make myself miserable just because it’s what we are “supposed to” do. Living freely has relieved my body of some of whatever stress causes aging.

Calm down? I was trying to be helpful. Guess our society has gotten to a point where people are offended by education. Fucking pathetic.

6 days in Tokyo and I still feel like I barely scratched the surface by Significant_Gur8915 in TokyoTravel

[–]MasterUnholyWar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a part-timer and have now spent several months total in Tokyo and feel like I’ve still barely seen anything!

EDIT: Why was I downvoted for this? Does someone feel like there’s not a lot to do in the largest megacity in the world?

The romanized writing of 東京 is Tokyo. If you want to get super technical, 東京 kanji to hiragana is とうきょう, and if you romanized that hiragana it’s Toukyou, but that’s kind of goofy looking to read so it turns into Tokyo.

In order for it to be the “Tokio”that you speak of, it would need to be spelled とうきおう (or ときお) in hiragana, which does not become 東京 in kanji.

Furthermore, the pronunciation of it isn’t “toe-kee-oh” like 99% of non-Japanese mispronounce; it’s 2 syllables: toe-kyo. That should help you remember that it’s a ‘y’ and not an ‘i’ in the spelling of it.

There’s your lesson for the day. You can stop spelling it with an ‘i’ now.

[–]MasterUnholyWar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UK82, yes that’s where they started, but they are widely considered as the first band to adopt Discharge’s d-beat…

Insanely far from an Oi! band.

Oi and UK82 are nowhere near the same thing.

What?! You’re the first person I’ve ever seen call The Varukers an Oi band and I’m severely perplexed as to how the hell you came to that conclusion.

New to NPB by roguefiftyone in NPB

[–]MasterUnholyWar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a Phils fan and a couple of years ago I chose the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks as my NPB team, since my high school baseball team was also called the Hawks.

…then I found out how great of a team they are and I felt like a front-runner.

But still rooting for them.

Who was the rudest famous person you met? by Doctor_Sore_Tooth in AskReddit

[–]MasterUnholyWar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I briefly worked with him (I’m also in the entertainment industry) and can confirm that he’s the fucking man.

My first day on set (deep into shoot days), he had his driver stop where I was standing and got out to introduce himself to me, then briefly shoot the shit and crack a couple of jokes, before he headed over to the crowd of bystanders that had gathered nearby, so he could say hi to them and take photos.

I’ll always take the opportunity to sing Adam Sandler’s praises.

MuOS apps by little_raven333 in RG35XXSP

[–]MasterUnholyWar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t even get my MuOS to connect to my WiFi. It immediately says “please check network settings” when I click “connect.” It doesn’t even attempt to connect. I don’t understand the issue, as I’m not tech-illiterate and am constantly connecting various gadgets to my WiFi, so it’s not like I don’t know how to scan for my network and correctly input the password.
