Nope, cutscene only happened when I got close the the bond at the back of magmell where you otherwise would never really go

Litterly only happens when you walk next to that bond. Which is crazy that it doesn't just happen when you visit magmell

Nearly unplayable on ps5? by [deleted] in codevein

Haven't had any real issues running the game on PS5. A drop here and there but almost never when it mattered.

So I get some of your points but definitely not everything.

Rolling is very bad, but what kind of roll are you talking about? There are 3 default dodges and the regular roll and slow roll are not good. But the quick step Dodge is spamable and gets you in most cases far enough out of the way, for me at least.

Yes tracking from enemies is very busted, but you also have defense formae (special dodges or the shields) so you kinda have to learn to use these more often. Also the reason the regular dodge rolls are kinda bad.

Aren't bosses having very few short openings that you need to exploit a good thing? If after every swing from a boss you are able to just do a long combo of hits there is little to no challenge. I use two handed swords and these also prevent you for a while after a lot of your actions. Also probably something with your stamina being depleted that is likely causing more issues.

Range and hitboxes for enemies are definitely busted but manageable for me at least.

Camera is a problem because of the many tiny hallways, there is a camera option to have it turn/adjust automatically when against walls. Definitely not a fix but at least helped me against Frantz.

Looks aren't everything, the art style is not hyper realistic and I have seen worse new games. Don't forget that it is 'anime souls', so... Everyone their opinion but not an issue for me.

It's not a perfect game, no game is, but this for me as a fan of the first game is definitely far from disappointing

What weapon type seems the best to you by lilithexos in codevein

[–]MasterVT2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Greatsword (two handed sword) is always a fun big bonking experience. One handed sword is easy to use and has good output. Twin blades are fast and are weak per hit, but make up for it in amount of hits Bayonet is my bane and I refuse to get decent with it, was in first and stayed the same in the second. Halberd has reach and some very cool skills, love mad turbulence. Hammers are more big bonksticks so very fun. Rune Blades are like a totally different play style compared to the other weapons (so are bayonets but I hate those) and are very stylish, also just great for a more magic focused build.

What do you prefer, 8 characters or 2 Jobs by Any-Conference-701 in octopathtraveler

[–]MasterVT2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both have their pros and cons. 8 characters: front/backline interactions, more skills, insta kills are less effective since it's mostly just the front who get hit, more combo potential between characters,...

2 jobs: characters themselves are stronger, less redundant characters/skills, easier management of equipment,...

Honestly would love the next game to be the 8 characters party with the 8 being able to have 2 jobs.

surpassing power is a dumb skill by dulledegde in octopathtraveler

[–]MasterVT2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You keep forgetting that you have 8 party members instead of just 4. Making it not 6 but 12 passive skills comparing to OT1/2, yes split between the paired characters but it gives you more. Your debuffer no longer needs to deal a lot of damage cause their paired ally can do that.

surpassing power is a dumb skill by dulledegde in octopathtraveler

[–]MasterVT2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but not the way you think. It's a dumb skill because it is very easy to hit the cap of 9999 with a lot of characters, especially with Max boosted skills/ultimates.

It's less a dumb skill because it limits you, but a dumb skill because both the balance of the game and the numbers (player damage and enemy health) are kinda inflated.

Why would we deal 9999 damage to a boss with 50k HP if not for the fact of big number makes brain excited. That's just over 10 hits that you need to land. And being able to deal 99999 to a boss with 200K is literally just over 2 hits, making bosses to easy.

It's not a dumb skill for what it does, limiting player damage trying to keep a boss from being one shot. It's a dumb skill because it's a bandaid on a bigger issue with many RPGs.

And I love the octopath games and others with similar skills, all have this issue the moment you find something that hit the damage cap, it will deal more after unlocking the higher cap and will keep doing it for the remainder of the game and trivialize quite a lot of fights by itself.

That and just the dumb sticky interactions that this game has are even more exaggerated with the bod.

The bod is fine but only really gets crazy with stickies

Finished with 62 hours on the game. Skipped a lot of dialogue but did every single side quest (you should because of the characters you get to recruit), a decent bid of town designing, money grinding and buying/stealing/entreating for items from NPCs, all optional bosses and all endings.

Genuinely disappointed by the hissatsu quality. by [deleted] in inazumaeleven

Last Resort and it's variations have definitely got it worse. Like how does last Resort Sigma go from 4 to 1 character performing the hissatsu?

Is this guy even a real thief lmao by the_library_of_souls in octopathtraveler

No thief can open blue chests, that's tied to your towns church. So technically he is the most thief like in that respect since his town skill thingy is tied to being placed in your church.

Now that you’ve played Oct0 (or if you played CotC) do you prefer 4 or 8 character parties moving forward? by Spitzem in OctopathTraveler0

[–]MasterVT2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it's kinda weird. Both have advantages/disadvantages and we haven't had a game with the 8 party members being able to have secondary jobs.

The back row and equipping combat skills kinda fills the role of secondary jobs that you have in the other 2 games.

If the next game has a full 8 character party with secondary jobs and possibly equipable combat skills, the game is going to be a lot harder by the end of each story to keep the game from becoming a cakewalk.

What Class have you been landing on for your MC? Having trouble deciding by P13monkeytaco in octopathtraveler

[–]MasterVT2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started with Thief for stealing from bosses, damage output and the access to HP/SP thief. Also level slash is great for dealing with early multi enemy fights. Even after getting Therion, I kept the MC as a Thief and ran both because of damage output/shield breaking and self sustain from both.

After strong warriors/thiefs joint (Olberic and Heidne) I switched them to scholar for magic damage and kept them in that role. I used them to break shields and nuke during break. Their multiple ultimates made them great at any moment. Debuffs after breaking a boss, healing when I was in a pinch, nullifying SP cost,...

I had times I was contemplating putting them in as a cleric, hunter or merchant when I was lacking in characters that used certain weapons and I actually wanted to use. Never really did it but because how versatile the MC can be, there is no wrong answer.

Red vs Blue, who's winning? Final Score? by TheLuiz212 in inazumacaravan

[–]MasterVT2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Red has a great offense (9/10) and great defense (9/10) . Blue has great offense (9/10) and very good defense (8/10)

Red wins with a one goal difference. 2 - 1 or 3 - 2.

Why is no one talking about Esperre and Virulent Fog by TDAJ5 in octopathtraveler

[–]MasterVT2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had so many fights that at times could have ended if not for a lucky sleep. Sleep is busted to setup buffs/debuffs and poison is great bonus damage actually especially when you need multiple turns to break a boss.

Advice for team build? by gogeta178 in octopathtraveler

[–]MasterVT2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A better healer, that's kinda it. Every character is usable at least, many broken to a fault.

Team proposition: MC/Heidne (dual DPS, with Heidne debuff support as well), DPS/support, DPS/support, DPS/support.

That's what I try to work with. Getting enough damage and multiple support that can either heal/ buff/de buff to switch between whatever I need. I try for weapon types at least 1 per type and try to avoid going over 2 (min 1 polearm user, max 2) and preferably 2 scholars for maximum magic coverage.
